I grew up on a farm around the Tulia, TX area & it is a very hard life. It’s a life 7 days a week & starts at dawn into the night especially during harvest season. The farmer is the fabric of this Land.
Growing up in this area, not part of the farm life, I learned to sort of ignore the fields I drive past on every trip to Lubbock. But I get reminded this time of year when the cotton gins fire up and the smell saturates the air. Then I remember with appreciation that people exist who are willing to work the frustrating, agonizingly long hard hours, job of being a farmer.
God bless the American farmers, for they keep us all alive. And God bless Gentlemen like Jim, who keeps them informed with what is going on in the markets. I will say this, I personally know several farmers where I live, and they are the most down to earth true people that I have ever met in my life.
In the notes, it seems he is thankfully still with us, with a contact e-mail address at the station, etc... The broadcast date was around Halloween this year. Texas has seemingly been on the path of forgetting our history and culture, frankly we need a whole lot more Jims…
Hey! I am a radio show host here and yes Jim is still alive! This was filmed around last year I believe, he retired back in March this year. (2023) He called in today to say hello and all is well :)
Thank you for sharing

Power to the Farmers.

We need a lot more Jim’s , God Bless him!
I just noticed from a CBS Texas news article that TCR will have a new host. Guess the Phillips gang is going to retire.
49 years? Jim's still a newbie at it! At least by TCR standards....haha. Great story for sure!
Loved that story !
Is jim still alive ?
It seems like they re upload the video when the person dies. I don’t know if that’s true or not but it’s just what I’ve seen.
I don’t even know if this video is old
