My favourite slow dive song. Always loved their ‘cold’ side, smth like pygmalion demos. If they released an album in that style, it would be my favourite shoegaze record.
Ce morceau résume pour moi ce que les années 90 / 95 ont été pour moi : de la noisy de très haute qualité, pure et brute, éthérée et planante, le meilleur titre de Slowdive à mes yeux par sa fraîcheur et son innocence.
I barely heard this song yesterday and listened to it on repeat all through my work shift and coming home on the bus and then walking home. This is just ethereal.
Going down in a violent way Come on brother, he'll only make you pay Twisted mind, you break my heart I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right Dancing across the fire Down again Dancing across the fire Down again Going down in a violent way Come on brother, he'll only make you pay Twisted mind, you break my heart I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right Dancing across the fire Down again And he's dancing across the fire Down again Watching all, you lose yourself Laying low, the stars are everywhere Losing all, and lose my heart I lose myself and spend it all Twisted mind, don't break my heart Don't believe me. ________________________________________

hey dude. atm I'm not recalling of other song of them having the "drum machine" treatment. I think this comes from a recording session or jam where did didn't have a drummer and just played along to the machine
This is most likely one of the Souvlaki demos that Neil did completely solo. There was a period during the writing of Souvlaki where Neil was writing songs that were heavily influenced by bands like Joy Division, and from the sound of it I’m guessing that this is one from that period. If you want to hear more songs that they did in this sort of vein I’d recommend checking out some of the other Souvlaki demos.
Interesting question, I've been pondering the same. It's kinda hard to tell as the snares sound like they come from Linn hardware and the claps sound Oberheim-ish. Given that this track is from the early 90s and Neil being primarily a guitarist, I would lean towards Alesis as some of their kit was built for the singer/songwriter (such as the SR16, although I'm certain that it didn't come with these exact samples), maybe an HR16 or the likes. I will look into it, if I find anything that's plausible to have been used in this track I'll keep you posted
@@HurricaneRvd9 nah i don’t think it’s analog and I don’t think they could afford an analog one. The snare and clap actually sound quite digitally sampled. Probably a cheap one made by Akai or Roland
no official lyrics that I know of, mostly placeholder vocals if on these demos. there are some comments in this video with kinda accurate lyrics, at least to my ears
This is literally one of their best songs ever.
One of the best shoegaze songs ever!
real.
I agree!!!!
@@jonytubewhere did you find this? Can you please upload this somewhere? It's not with the rest of the unmastered demos online

never heard this version before. i really think this is one of their best songs and this is a great version.
like I said in my reply to Eduard's comment: this is quite possibly my favourite version and one of my favourite songs from them.

Fuck yeah! This is my favorite Slowdive's song. This version makes it even more ethereal and bleak. I love it.

I Love how it goes mental at the end
Explosions for music arr the best
Masterpiece.
LA LA LA LA LA LALA LA
Love this. Vocals aside, the influence of the Chameleons, KoD and The Cure are utterly undeniable here
For me sounds more Joy Division in the 1980s with The Cure with the drums and the atmosphere.
My god is this good. Best version. Different lyrics too
A vibe sombria e melancólica dessa música me faz sentir paz
Man this blowed my brain out! This is clearly a post punk song performed by slowdive! What a great discovery 👌🏻

Great sound, way ahead of their time!!
Going down in a violent way
Come on brother, he'll only make you pay
Twisted mind, you break my heart
I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right
Dancing across the fire
Down again
Dancing across the fire
Down again
Going down in a violent way
Come on brother, he'll only make you pay
Twisted mind, you break my heart
I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right
Dancing across the fire
Down again
And he's dancing across the fire
Down again
Watching all, you lose yourself
Laying low, the stars are everywhere
Losing all, and lose my heart
I lose myself and spend it all
Twisted mind, don't break my heart
Don't believe me.

Anyone know what drum machine they use?
its hard to tell, maybe a linn drum ? just based off the snare sound

Snares remind me a bit of a RX11. Those claps are pretty LM-1-ish tho.
