    Tell us about engine sound and vibes across the rev range especially at 70-80 mph, fuel economy (really), servicing costs for major services, daily check stuff like oil dipstick or window, and tyre valve 90 ° or straight please. 👍

    It would be nice to see a manufacturer produce a modern retro adventure bike. Something inspired by the old R80/100 GS, XT500, Honda XL. Modern ADVs all look the same to me.

    I'm planning to switch my current Z900 to this or the Touring version as the main/only bike. Alternatively, I can keep the Z900 and get an 450 MT. That said, one of the main drawbacks about CFMoto is their 5k km service interval, which I have to bring to a mechanic to maintain warranty. Why? Especially in model you hardly go offroad or NOT a high revving engines.
    I like my Kawasaki cause the official service intervals are 12k km and in between, I can do my own oil + filter changes.

    A very tempting brand; they look good, according to many YTubers, perform well and all have an interesting price.
    The MT400 could even be the next best thing to an Enfield Himmy?

    A great review Sean, I looked at the 800 but for me what killed it against the 700 was weight, height,fly by wire throttle and the silencer coming up into the storage area. Personally I also didn't want the aluminium luggage. Wasn't bothered and wouldn't use rider modes, the 700 doesn't have any modes. Would have loved cruise control but generally only available on fly by wire bikes. Just completed first 5000km and the bike has been out in monsoon rain and extreme sun temperatures and the finish still looks like new. Point on the tyres; truly phenomenal best I've ever ridden on, stick to the road and the bike handles absolutely brilliant.

      Great to hear this Bob, as I said at the time I have a soft spot for the 650 lump in those bikes. I rode it in the CLX 700 and it was great. Very punchy and fun. You've done well getting 5000km on that bike! Cheers, Sean

    Can I just hijack your vlog and ask you what you think of the way BSA are marketing the GoldStar. I paid £6800 for my Midnight Black model last March and it's now on sale, brand new for £5500. The green version was 6500 and now you can buy it for 4995. What is this doing for second hand values. It seems to me that BSA are treating its customers as fools, i love the bike but have obviously lost thousands on it if i come to sell it.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist

      You can Ian, frankly it seems they are creating enemies from owners, dealers and reviewers I've heard all sorts to be honest, not much of it good. A couple online are defending them and I like you love the bike so I speak passionately about it online. I paid £5495 for mine secondhand and even I am down because as you say secondhand green ones are what? About 4k if you are lucky... so I'm down £1.5k at the very least, in 9 months. I like a bargain motorcycle and the whole channel is built on cheap motorcycling but I think as the years go on I'm going to be buying a brand that's 'boring' like Honda with iron clad reliability, warranty and strong resale. I think you live and learn. Sorry to hear your story 😢

      If you look around there are a lot of price drops and offers a bikes from many manufacturers right now, it’s a hard year for dealers with too much stock as well. When you buy a car or bike you know as soon as you leave the dealership it’s lost value, you just have to live with it. Like stocks and shares it’s a gamble. Classic bike values are also dropping. So do you buy a bike with passion and enjoy it or are you already thinking about when you sell it?

      It's a good point, but with manufacturers like Royal Enfield reducing the price of 2023 model Interceptors then BSA had to respond to keep sales up. Us BSA owners need the company to be successful for our bikes to have any value other than as oddities. So it is a double edged sword, but it's in our interest for BSA and the new Gold Star to be seen to be a success so the odd discount now and again is a fact of life I'm afraid. Even if my £6k Shadow Black edition is worth peanuts in years to come, it won't be a patch on what my car costs in depreciation alone and I will have had a bucket load of fun in to the bargain!

      Earlier this year i went to my local BSA dealer in West Lancashire and he told me that due to BSA messing him about, from the 1st of Jan 2024 he wasn't selling any of their bikes anymore. He's a quality dealer what's going on with BSA.

    I think the KTM partnership is interesting. It suggests to me that KTM has concluded that CF Moto isn’t a sales threat to them. That strikes me as a bit of a gamble, especially at a time when most people are looking to save money.

    Dave aka BingleyWheeler's bike is the MT800 Sport. I just had a quick look. He's reviewed the one with the wire wheels tho. They've done with the two of the MT800s what Suzuki have done with the V-Stroms in offering a mainly road variant and more offroadish variant.

  • @jerrywines382
    @jerrywines382 Месяц назад +1

    That looks like cracking value for money. That price includes an £1800 discount though, so not sure if it will return to the rrp of £8,600 at which it's probably a bit on the pricey side. These discounts are a problem for second hand values short-term, but provided it's a limited time offer shouldn't affect them in the long-term. If you can buy at this price, you're covering the initial depreciation in the saving so it's a no brainer.

    CF Moto are putting out some decent bikes at realistic prices however the dealer network is sparse. I live just north of Newcastle and my nearest dealer is around 100 miles away. We have a huge number of motorcyclists in our region, strangely enough we have a new KTM showroom however they have no plans to sell CF Moto. Thanks for the overview, at the current discounted price it’s a lot of bike.

    The Enfield range of parts are so available from India can't see there being issues there.

    I have a CF Moto dealer really close to home. I am retired. Hmmmm....Perhaps this is a sign from the heavens above?! It's true you have "more" stuff on a GS but will you have more FUN?
    I very much enjoy your thoughts as I also do with "The Bingley Wheeler" and a few others. The reason I do is simple. You speak to the real world and focus on the type of motorbikes you enjoy and why. For me, looks are important. I won't buy what i consider to be an ugly bike (BMW obviously wasn't listening, ergo the FUGLY new GS1300 sAdventure.
    Buy a fun bike and have adventures! Buy a sAdventure bike and pose? sAdventure bike? Yup. That's a portmanteau of my own creation to describe what most such motorbikes wind up being. Most, not all. This genre, this style of motorbike has become (and rightly so!) the new touring motorbike.
    I look forward to more of your excellent reviews and thoughts on motorbikes. Thank you from the USA!

    Hi Sean, next video, economy, what's the average and best. International support - if taken into Europe, can the support be offered like the big names? CFMoto dealer support through the UK - what does that look like? Will it take a diver down like that (sadly) of BSA. Pillion - how does the suspension manage a pillion and is the handling affected? Just some thoughts on what looks like a great bike. I am tempted towards the Triumph Scrambler 400X but this CFMoto looks the beans 👍. Touring Europe on the 400 Scramber mmmmmmm

      Iv got the 800mt explorer , had it since March, done 4K miles , it does take about 1K miles to break in engine & Gearbox, fuel economy im getting 55mpg now and I’m fairly hard rider , suspension seems good, iv loaded it up fairly heavy and I’m 110kg myself and it’s fine , it’s also really easy to get at rear shock to add preload .panniers and top box are really good quality, finish is amazing and they are 100% watertight.

    The thing that kills Chinese brands resale is despite the deep discounting they don't shift enough units new, not enough to support a used market. So when buyers come to sell, they have a bike nobody is searching the listings for and I don't know how they ever manage to sell privately. I don't know whether the dealer networks are under-developed or they don't import enough. You must have got burned on your Voge for example. I think Benelli is the only Chinese brand to have established used prices and hopefully CFMoto will follow them off the back of strong sales for the 450MT. But for me it's hard to justify buying even a deep discounted new bike when I know I basically have to write the whole value off and if I manage to find a lightly used one it will likely be half the cost.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  Месяц назад +1

      That's a really important point. Yes I did get burned on my Voge, it was an unknown low volume model that was shortly discountinued and not supplied to the UK market. Thanks Sankara
