May be there is a mistake if im not wrong. In the start purchase price is 83. Then 17% of it is 14.11 , not 17.
So price plus tax should be 83+14.11.
In 100, 17% is 17.
Secondly, is it correct when A sells to B, B sells to C and C sells to D then, each 17% of the previously paid 17% is also added. Means why sales tax on the previously paid sales tax. It should be on the item cost and on the added profit.

Your first correction is absolutely right
And second one you are getting confused I think 🤔.
For instance in A, B,C And D case only one person have to pay tax to govt
Other persons will adjust tax in their purchasing and selling invoice
For example if there paid tax on purchasing 1000 and received tax on selling 2500
In this case 2500-1000 only 1500 tax have to pay to govt..
