That's what I'm saying. People say that because Ronaldo's physique makes him look like he is working much harder than Messi but nobody is born knowing how to play football. Messi still had to work extremely hard but in a different way without relying on his physique that's all. Still takes time, dedication and effort to become the best. Really annoying when people say that as it takes all credit away from the greats that do work hard behind the scenes.

Messi works smarter than he works harder. He knows his ability fully well so he adapts it in his personal training routines. I mean this man is such a prolific dribbler and rarely gets injured through his career. Ask Neymar how easy it is with getting kicked up and down the pitch and stay disciplined. These days whenever I watch a winger trying to beat defenders and they rarely do so. He’s just not a show off about it. I describe Messi as an “enigma” because it’s just incredible how he keeps fit through all those challenges he’s faced that could have ended his career and still bounce back and still make the difference always.

The real challange definitely isnt starting out at sporting, going into the 2000’s epl as a youngster, going to a weak madrid, getting betrayed by the team that made you, all while the media attacks you at every turn. By the way the second messi faced “challanges” (leaving barca for psg) he didnt perform well and made the previous champions league semi-finalist get knocked out at the round of 16 for both years he was there, after he left psg made it to semifinals again.

Some people don’t understand that talent without hard work means nothing, just because you don’t see Messi training doesn’t mean he doesn’t train, if you go back and check those other players that were once considered the “next Messi” because of their talents look where they are now, not on the level they should have been at because they didn’t put in the work, so again talent without work doesn’t get you anywhere

Talent is great, but you have to work for it.
It’s also the same case for Ronaldo, he had talent to be noticed by top clubs, but he also put in immense effort to sustain his talents long term.

The building/growing stage is a different phase of the life cycle than the maintenance stage. So, obviously young players in the building stage shouldn't act like older players in the maintenance stage. That's just common sense. Meanwhile, Ronaldo is a complete Athlete, and invested all of his efforts into Physicality, Speed, and Strength, but isn't very technically skilled.

    They always assume.
Some players choose to work extremely hard away from all of the eyes, when no one is watching…
That’s what Messi does and has done.
You can also read about his special training sessions away from the team online.
He had special (mainly physical) training and stretching sessions with special trainers that designed it specifically for his needs due to his growth hormone situation and surgeries.
It caused him to grow in a very unique way with a unique build.
He definitely does all of those little things more than the average player, otherwise his career would have been riddled with injuries…

I also heard team mates saying they didn't see Messi at all during training sessions. Obviously, especially at big clubs, you should have extreme dedication and responsibility. If you decide not to train, on the bench. If your attitude is not about hard working, you're out.
    However!
Messi's challenge was not to develop certain skills like dribbling or the awareness of people around him. His main challenge was simply having no injuries. So while others were training hard, he was being treated medically to prevent these injuries.
And what people forget if you're Messi, you're outplaying everyone, normally defenders simply push you around, grab your shirt....With him he seemed to slip away under their feet. So the only way to stop him sometimes would be an outages sliding or a kick on the ankles. I mean, everyone remembers Pepe?" Imagine being so desperate you can only even touch him when he's down and step on his hand??

Boateng is so dumb that even playing with Messi wasn’t enough to make him understand the greatness of Messi.
You can’t be the best in the world for 20 years straight like Messi without being an hard work athlete.
Messi made these things look easy but they aren’t, behind his standards there’s a lot of hard work.

i don't believe you can play football at the highest level for 20 years at that level without working hard. he is absolutely gifted the best gifts ever. he's an absolute baller so his game isn't based off athletic abilities, like jumping, ya know... others i guess have to do more to keep their highest level but but this man has played around 1100 games in his career, some of the best athletes in football retire playing half that number

Talent without hardwork is nothing no matter how much talent you've got no matter how insane and natural you do at something but you have to work so hard to make all the gift/talents you got to keep improve, same sh*t like no matter how much hardwork you've been through at learning something you need to remember every person have a limit in his own body, sometimes hardwork can be define as a talent to, because not everyone could train so hard to achieve something.

Among hundred thousands of football player, the one who get signed into a professional club can be consider as a big talent too, look how many promising young talents in the past failed at the age of 23,24,25 also before 30,this thing happened not only because of the injuries or just lack of motivation but you can considered for being not hardwork enough.

  • @Enchilada_72

If you are a professional football player, and your reaction to seeing the best player in the world not working hard in practice, is to not work hard in practice yourself, your issue is that you overestimate your abilities and talent.

Messi changed his ways after that defeat to Liverpool. It made him realize that he's been a poor captain. If you notice since then, he's been taking a far more proactive role in mentoring younger players and setting a good example. Without that 4-0 loss at Anfield, I don't think Messi wins Copa America 2021 or the 2022 World Cup.
