    'Both' must consent states ENCOURAGE misbehavior. What thief is going to give consent to record? What about Video Doorbells (ads show audio being picked up)?

    I have directly over my toilet. One where I sleep and change. Hell, I’ve got them in put up down here there so there’s no angle dressed and or undressed they got all angles of me. Their abusing people and the government knows and turns a blind eye.

    Hi: How can a homeowner use a front door protection camera without violating two party consent for audio “secretly” taken by countless neighbors and bystanders, that every camera naturally takes?
    The on/off button isn’t permissible as they naturally take audio in video.

      Great question! Most cameras have an optional audio recording setting. It just takes a little digging to find. You can usually turn off this audio recording or post a sign alerting visitors that they're being recorded.

      @@asksafewise thank you, the last issue about that is is a sign enough of a catalyst to have people give explicit consent? The law and MA is weird in section 99, I believe it says if people don’t like they’re being recorded, they walk away.

    OK so far I am in the clear but in Florida I have also posted a sign on my property for the longest time video and audio surveillance You are being Recorded any theft of property will be prosecute by entering the premises you are agreeing to be recorded on video and audio so I’m assuming I am OK because if they stay there then they agreed to it and HOAS technically cannot get into it i’ve almost had my property broken into four times recently one of my neighbors stole one of my plants so I would like to know if by putting the signs the way I did protect me and I don’t brake any laws

      wouldn't it better for the video surveillance system, not the sign, to protect you? I.e. you can put motion detetion and after it some kind of reaction - sms, push, email, etc. and be immediately notified if something 'goes unplanned'

    Good video, but it didn't answer my particular question. I'm renting a house and the landlord has cameras in common areas like the living room, kitchen and dining room. Is that legal?

    • @asksafewise
      @asksafewise  2 месяца назад

      It is as long as they're considered "common areas". But laws can vary from state to state. Some allow one-party consent, meaning your landlord is that one party.

    We have a neighbor with a camera 20 foot from our bedroom with a microphone to listen to our conversation and everything else. Also it's aimed at our back porch. Overhanging the property on a illegal building. What can we do about it?

    • @asksafewise
      @asksafewise  6 месяцев назад

      Well that's not good! If you're able to ask them about the camera or check if that model has a privacy mode, that could be a good start. We'd like to think that in most of these cases folks don't realize they're accidentally spying. Thankfully most cameras are able to record video without audio or black out areas within view (areas like your property and pack porch)

      Can I legally blind the camera? My neighbor was pointing camera at my kitchen window, I asked him to tilt it away from my property, but he sneakily put it on his front porch facing only me , again and when I come home it blinds me with its LED. His handlers (he is somewhat mentally incapacitated) said to me, it’s there only to listen to me !

    This is a 'touchy' subject for sure! My current security system it setup to NOT record when I'm home indoors but still records outdoors. So, if a crime happened near me and I have footage that may show something I do not really care if police has access to this as it's OUTSIDE! As far as indoors my Amazon Show devices for example have the camera disabled always! What I do in my OWN home is my business. Most people need to LOOK into their settings which they NEVER DO! And SHAME on them! Most people do NOT pay attention to access rights and privileges apps want to use for NO reason!

    I have a question! I'm in British Columbia Canada, and my work is currently installing cameras in the staff room were we eat out lunches, is this even legal???

    • @asksafewise
      @asksafewise  Год назад

      Great question, Move Forward! I'm only really familiar with laws in the US, so it might be different in Canada. But in the states, yes that is legal. As long as they aren't recording audio, footage in "public" areas like that is okay in all 50 states. But again, this might be different in Canada

      I have a neighbor who is recording with audio on their camera that is right next door. We were in an argument and he changed his cameras to go right thru my yard. We spent a few minutes outside one day making a joke out of something that he did. And the very next day he went and changed it. So he's in there watching us on his phone like a stalker.

      @@ghostfood260 ok, yeah what I ended up having to do.
      This works
      Buy 4 ot 6 $25 cameras yourself, you don't have to have them working, just mounted.
      I directed one right to their back porch and 3 that look over their full front yard and driveway and 2 on my front.
      It works.......
      Let us know

    I don't care what the Laws says. It is incorrect to be recording on private property and video/audio recording your neighbors. Most of these cameras have audio that also invade your privacy. That's why it ends in neighbors murdering their neighbors. If you want to have peace have cameras pointing only to your areas and don't use the ones that have audio. You should respect the neighbors privacy the same way you would expect them to respect yours. There are motion alarma that protect as well. Don't encourage bad behavior.

    The powers that be wish all of us surveilled, hence them being legal to record your neighbors.
