Did you go to the famous old bridge in Florence, the PONTE VECCHIO? During the medieval times. It used to be occupied by butchers, tanners and farmers. Its occupants now are jewelry store owners, art dealers, and souvenirs. Florence is home of the world's best leather craftmanship. I've bought a bag in Rome but learned that it was5 pounds cheaper in Florence.
