Growing up in the Chicagoland area, I know for a fact no one orders the gravy bread so don’t feel bad 😂 Just get your beef sandwich extra dipped, same effect but better texture! Love Portillos! You should try the eclair cake!
One of our favorite places and so glad yall tried the gravy bread. Sorry it was not yalls favorite but man o man we love that stuff. We need portillios in Nashville for sure.
Thanks for the recommendation. The flavoring was great, but we just had a hard time getting past the texture. A Portillo's in Nashville would be amazing!!
Grace is absolutely repulsed by the sight of the soggy bread lol but she’s a full on texture eater. The feel of the gravy bread reminds me of a soufflé, which isn’t my favorite thing either because, like you said, it kind of feels like it’s only half baked
Poor Gentry! You could tell that he did not really care for his food, but he hated to say anything ugly. But you could tell it in his expressions. But Henry was happy!! Everything, except that hot dog, looked great. My hotdog has to have mustard, chili, slaw and onion. I have never ventured out into many of the different types of hotdogs. Jennifer had on those Shady Ray's! I love mine! Hope ya'll have a great weekend.
Brent likes the Chicago dog but the sausage and beef sandwich is another great option. Brent and Henry think that the chocolate cake is a must. We would enjoy watching y'all review Portillo's sometime. We hope that you have an excellent weekend.
All the food looks good. I would have to say the chili dog looks like what I would like to try. I really like chili dogs. If I remember right you all did some reviews on chili dogs in the Ohio area that looked great. We always enjoy you all’s reviews so thank you for taking us along.
Thank you, Steve! We really appreciate that. We prefer the Cincinnati chili dogs in Ohio over the ones at Portillos, but this one was still very good. We appreciate y'all and hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Was watching this thinking how Henry would make the perfect Big Boy model if only he had checkered overalls & a white t shirt. May need to quaff up his hair some 😂😂
We will definitely have to try that out next time! We discussed after we filmed that we may have enjoyed it more if there was something else that went along with it and have the sandwich dipped, may just be the answer to what we're looking for. We hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving, @wiggydebates3944
They need 2 build one in Tennessee and ohio that place look yummy again happiest Thanksgiving every 1 and have a great weekend sending lots and tons of kitty's support hugs ❤❤❤always on 😊
We like the way you're thinking, Michelle - they definitely need one in Ohio and Tennessee! We hope that you have a very Happy Thanksgiving and a great weekend. Here's to hoping that the Buckeyes win tomorrow, the Bengals win on Sunday and the Browns win on Monday.
Hi there, @deatra-happyagirl4063! I have the Allure style Shady Rays in Pink Tortoise with Color Rush: shadyrays.com/collections/women-bfcm/products/allure-think-pink-tortoise. Hope you have a great vacation and enjoy your Shady Rays too! Thanks so much for watching! We hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
Portillos was one of my gotos in Chicago. Love their Italian beef, my favorite is the Italian beef and sausage combo with sweet or hot peppers. I wonder what their reaction to the cake would have been if they gave their review before hearing it had mayonnaise in it. 😂 You definitely can't taste it. Amazing cake for a fast food joint. The wife always wanted that cake for her birthday. Love the au ju but I'm not a fan of soggy bread, definitely a texture thing for me. Thanks for the great review even though now I'm really wanting some Portillos! Need one in East Tennessee too! 😊
You make a great point. Gentry seemed to enjoy it until the comment was made that it had mayonaise. That cake would make an amazing birthday cake. We like your idea of having a Portillos in TN! We hope that you have a great weekend, Dennis!
I'm with Brent. That gravy bread would be a hard pass for me. The beef sammich looked great, though. Now, once you have a Detroit coney, you'll never lower your standards to try any others. Duly's coney with chilli cheese fries...mmmMMMMM😊
When I was a kid, my Mamaws always served their meats with the "juices" in the platter. We called it " sop" as we would sop our biscuits in the juices after the meal. But I don't want to eat soggy bread, I would rather dip or "sop".
I’m with Gentry…I don’t like soggy bread…it’s a texture thing. The croissant probably doesn’t hold up as well as the roll. Love this video! Have a Happy Thanksgiving! 💗
We're with you - the texture is definitely off with the soggy bread. The croissant surprisingly held up really well and was a nice substitute to the normal french bread. We hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving, Susie! Thanks so much for watching.
I have only had counter service at Portillos in the midwest, not table service. Mayonnaise is mainly eggs and oil, which are standard ingredients for a cake, just in a different consistency. It makes for a very moist cake. This Portillos seemed very large and noisy. I read new restaurants from now on will have a smaller footprint.
It was definitely very noisy and loud. It seemed really large for the crowd level that was there. It had just opened when we arrived but we thought more people would be in the dining room, given the size. Thanks for watching, Barbara! We hope that you have an amazing weekend.
We're with you, James. Our appeal to it is that we don't have any located back at home in Tennessee, but if it were close to home, there's too many other great places to eat at for the price. We hope that you have a great weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving!
We've never heard of it, but just looked it up and the menu looks great! Thanks for making us aware of this restaurant. We'll have to check it out if we're traveling in an area where they have a location. We hope that you have a great weekend.
I wish there was a Portillo’s in Atlanta, this place looks so awesome.
Growing up in the Chicagoland area, I know for a fact no one orders the gravy bread so don’t feel bad 😂 Just get your beef sandwich extra dipped, same effect but better texture!
Love Portillos! You should try the eclair cake!

That cake looks delicious yummy ❤
Next time you have to try the Maxwell Street Polish Sausage as well, it’s AMAZING! We love Portillo’s and are lucky to have two within an hour of us!
Grace is absolutely repulsed by the sight of the soggy bread lol but she’s a full on texture eater. The feel of the gravy bread reminds me of a soufflé, which isn’t my favorite thing either because, like you said, it kind of feels like it’s only half baked

Thank you
It looks like a lovely restaurant ❤
Enjoy it
Thank you, Vit! We really appreciate that.
😮that chocolate cake did it for me!!!!
Great review!!!
Glad to see another review from here. After two visits, what would you recommend for a first timer?

Food looked delicious 😋
We really enjoyed our meal and their cheese is soooo good! We hope that you have an amazing weekend, JoAnn!
And thank you for another great video I love you guys have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving ❤
Thank you, Lori! We appreciate you watching and hope that you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving as well.
Lol I was thinking of toasting the gravy bread 😊 Great video guys 😊
Was watching this thinking how Henry would make the perfect Big Boy model if only he had checkered overalls & a white t shirt. May need to quaff up his hair some 😂😂
That sounds like a great idea for next year's Halloween costume. It seems like all of the Big Boys are closing down in recent months. It's sad to see.
Happy Holidays to your Family, Your videos are helping me stay Positive during my Breast cancer Journey. Very Grateful and Thankful
I would love my Italian beef with sweet peppers, Giardiniera and gravy on the side.
Now that sounds like a really delicious combo! Thanks for watching and we hope that you have an amazing weekend.
Next time, have them dip that sandwich. You have to eat it with a fork and knife, but the flavor is SO much better with the gravy.
It's basically gravy bread WITH the meat
The soaked bread is Chicago style. That's the way we eat it (or many do). I like mine double dunked (you'd die) with mozzarella and sweet peppers.
We will definitely have to try that out next time! We discussed after we filmed that we may have enjoyed it more if there was something else that went along with it and have the sandwich dipped, may just be the answer to what we're looking for. We hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving, @wiggydebates3944
Henry is so adorable ❤

Love this place I been to it 3 years go
It's so good!
Henry's face is so cute ❤
Jennifer, what style are your Shady Rays? I am going to the Smokies in a few weeks and would love to get a pair.

I love milk chocolate too but I've never had mayonnaise in a cake either that sounds weird ❤
I'm with Brent. That gravy bread would be a hard pass for me. The beef sammich looked great, though. Now, once you have a Detroit coney, you'll never lower your standards to try any others. Duly's coney with chilli cheese fries...mmmMMMMM😊

Thank you, Catherine! We appreciate your kind comment and hope that you have an amazing weekend and Thanksgiving!
Does the cake taste like Dukes or Hellmans?
Have you been to Hillbilly Hotdogs in Wv?
October 22, 2024 H-Town / Houston, TEXAS Has It's 1st of 4 Portillo's Hot Dogs & Italian Beefs Locations. YEA! I was Made in Chicago, IL (southside)
Mayo is just eggs and oil both are commonly in cakes anyway lol
Those are definitely the main ingredients. Most mayos have vinegar and lemon juice too.
I'm just guessing, but maybe the excellent service was because nobody else was eating there🤔
@@Alabama_man 😆 that definitely may have played a factor in it for sure.
I know some people absolutely love this place but I’ve always thought it was too expensive and overrated.
We're with you, James. Our appeal to it is that we don't have any located back at home in Tennessee, but if it were close to home, there's too many other great places to eat at for the price. We hope that you have a great weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving!
@ it’s a fun place to go once in awhile but not every week.
Chicagoan here and portillos isn’t even all that! way more better spots out here in the city and all over the suburbs
I have to agree. I really really hate soggy bread. It makes me puke and I can not stand soggy bread. Yuck!
You would definitely not enjoy their gravy bread. The flavor was great but the texture was another story. Thanks for watching, Darci!
That horrible music is so loud!
Thanks for watching!
Have y'all ever heard of Mr hereos? Food isn't bad and they waffle fries with a good cheese sauce
