Classic TV Themes: Dynasty / The Colbys (Xpanded)

Dynasty was a super soaper: it lasted nine seasons and spawned 'The Colbys' as a spin-off. The latter was not so successful (two seasons) but it had the better theme. Bill Conti wrote both of them. The Dynasty theme's solo trumpet has become so associated with the show that it may come as a surprise that the early episodes pretty much left out the trumpet part from the opening titles. Before too long the trumpet was added in and there was the theme we all know. We have both examples here, plus an Xpanded version of The Colbys. Due to how it was edited, the Colbys theme in the closing credits includes portions not heard in the opening titles. So we combined the two for a super-complete edition of this dynamic theme. To accommodate the greater length we edited some additional footage into the opening titles so they would sync up with the Xpanded theme.
