CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Shortly after the topside part of the facility explodes, one of the sharks uses Jim's gurney-tied body as a battering ram to break the laboratory's window.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Although mako sharks are among the fastest and deadliest predators in the ocean, they're not as smart as humans -- at least, they weren't. However, Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) has been using mako sharks as her test subjects for research on the regeneration of human brain tissues. McAlester has altered the DNA of several sharks, raising them close to the level of human intelligence; the sharks have also become faster and stronger in the process. While these DNA experiments have yielded fascinating results, they're also of questionable ethics and legality, earning her the distrust of several members of her crew, including shark authority Carter Blake (Thomas Jane and cook "Preacher" Dudley (LL Cool J). The financial backers of these experiments have also expressed skepticism, so when McAlester is ready to perform some major tests, financier Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson) arrives for the occasion. McAlester and her team are delicately extracting brain tissue from one of the altered makos when the animal regains consciousness - and becomes very angry. The shark not only attacks the researchers but also damages the floating lab, leaving the crew aboard a literally sinking ship, with the makos eager to go a few rounds

you have to admit this is one of the best shark movies
But it still not on level of jaws
@@supermarioburns4035 it’s a different experience to Jaws. This movie is more terrifying than Jaws I think but Jaws is the overall better movie. The sharks in this movie are the stuff of nightmares
That glass breaks slowly.
"Alrite lets move! Calm and slow! Not like we should rush to the upstairs."
They were all in a shock moment and couldn’t process what was happening so quick. It happens!
@@mhmodtayyar7978 At least, somebody understands that.
That's actually a very realistic reaction. I could see myself doing similar in that situation.
That's my biggest criticism of this scene. Totally braindead to just stand there and watch the glass crack...
😂lo que pasa que te quedas impactado
Deep Blue Sea doesn’t get enough credit...This scene is intense and emotional all in one, something non existent In most shark movies.
Exactly
Its really not terrible movie
It's one of the most amazing classic underrated films
Exactamundo. It helps that it is a well written , well directed and filled with great character actors that gave great performances. JAWS is the G.O.A.T., but The Deep Blue Sea is as good as the next best shark movie.
So, you’ve yet to see the Sharknado Series?
This has to be one of the cruelest, most horrifying deaths in cinema. Simply monstrous.
Yeah it was sad as a kid to see that.
Yes it was, it was hard to watch seeing it in the theaters in ‘99!
Fr you think your safe then boom
12th
This dude just had to avoid thinking those sharks were like nice little dogs and therefore had to keep his arm away from that monster's mouth, then he wouldn't have been cut off, the chopper wouldn't have crashed, the movie wouldn't have been released and I wouldn't have written this comment on RUclips...
When I first saw this movie nearly twenty years ago, it gave me awful nightmares. But out of every scene in the movie, this whole sequence where the rescue chopper explodes cause the sharks pretty much planned to chop his arm off and then threw him against the glass, knowing that was gonna gonna happen. So heartbreaking, It made me sad when it happened.
Agreed, this movie traumatized me as a kid. This and the arm chewing scene were terrifying-I was shivering for the rest of the movie
The death of the scared dude was even worse. He got electructed, bitten in half and his leg was still pulsing.... man that was shocking!
I remember watching this when i was 5 years old and loved it lol I wasn’t even that scared yet when i watch horror movies i blame myself for being scared but then i see people are terrified from something like this damn I really shouldn’t blame myself so much lol
I agree. I thought sharks were that smart in real life. But it's just a movie. I felt so bad for Jim. They couldn't help him. The reason he fell back in was because of how strong the wind waa blowing and stuff with water being so rough with the wind.
@@adamd6648 Same. I was little when I first watched it.
Jaws and Deep Blue Sea are the true gems among shark themed films ❤️
please do not throw JAWS, a classic, in with the likes of this late '90s garbage

@vhscopyofseinfeld Then wtf are you doing on this video since this film is garbage to you? Why even bother clicking on it?

how many times did Thomas Jane fall in this movie 😂
Romero Clay A lot but he was still the Hero of the film along with LL Cool J!
He was known for being clumsy. Pretty sure it’s a running gag.
he had absolutly no guns, except for a shotgun that went missing for no reason!

I can remember seeing this as a kid and this scene was always the most captivating
As a kid? This movie is clearly NOT for CHILDREN. How could this happen?
@@Cpl._Dwayne_Hicks definitely, I've actually watched it as a kid too, and it scared the hell out of me 😅 in fact I had to stop watching after Samuel L. Jackson's death
0:47 Shark: Here you can have this back, I'm bored with it now pfft😝😧
The shark was like a dog returning the Frisbee
Shark: "Would you lend me another hand?"
0:23 this scene terrified me.
If that glass did not break non of them would have been killed! It was the reason for all of it.
The scariest place to start
Same!!!!! Omg it was creepy and the music didn't make it better
The music did it.
How terrifying is it?
0:40 this shot is fantastic because it shows a transition from a practical shark to a CG shark.
Sharks engaging in tool use interesting with their increased intelligence
@@inkasaurusrex Sure.
Trust me those are both CGI sharks
@@chrisbarrett2117 I'm sure it's a practical to CGI transition. The trailer shows a different version with the practical effect only.
@@dcsf1 The whole thing looks CG to me, there are other scenes where the practical shark looks way better.
This movie is classic and it was very well done.
This death was disturbing. Poor guy was drowning after being dragged around by a shark AND having his arm bitten off
Yeah it was brutal but as long as it doesn't happen to any Woman!! Because no Woman deserve that!! So when some random guys getting Eaten up 😋🥩 🦈 it's better than some poor Woman getting it lol wouldn't you agree?
I’m pretty sure the implication was that breathing mask he was wearing was acting as a scuba mask allowing him to breathe underwater. At least until the shark used him as a battering ram.
@@Arthus850He still drowned because you see his body later minus the masks. At some point he spit it out of his mouth to die or it was knocked out.
The visual of him in the sharks mouth is terrifying 😳 🦈
They put that shot in the trailer. It was so surreal. This was one of the best shark movies ever
Glass cracks.
....
More glass cracks. A break is imminent.
....
The entire glass is cracked. Merely a second from shattering with water beginning to seep in.
"Alright people, let's move." (calmly).
Matt D I see the bad common sense in this scene so thank you for noticing man
Lmfao right. I would of ran the min the shark threw him
People can be in a state of shock and can be paralysed cause it’s so shocking then they may move or they won’t move
That should've been the least of their problems, the pressure of the room would've left and the pool in the middle would've imploded because of the pressure release, so water should've filled the room from that pool alone let alone the sea water on the other side of the window
@@xlovelygi Yeah LOL 😂 and after All that trying to save the guy the 🦈 like Noo Sir your going to Die and that's THAT😵☠️ LOL 😂 was actually kinda funny the Sharks like made sure the guy Dies LOL wouldn't you agree?
There's is no way that door would've shut. Even the Hulk would be slipping and sliding on that floor struggling to shut it with all that water pressure.
Well, Hulk weighs 2,300lbs and can breathe underwater for a long time. I'm pretty sure, he could shut those doors easily.
The Hulk is capable of taking a leap hundreds of miles long and can throw a tank hundreds of miles with a single arm. The Hulk would have punched that door shut! I think a better imaginative would have been Captain America. In that situation, though, even the Cap would have shut it closed, with the right amount of concentration haha
James Chandler I ain't never heard of Hulk being able to breathe underwater?! But I agree that closing that door shouldn't be a big problem for him.
I was thinking that. There is no way that a 5 people could keep the WEIGHT OF THE ENTIRE OCEAN from opening a door.
Steffon Doyle He cant breathe underwater, i believe what that statement meant is that he could hold his breath underwater for a very lengthy amount of time.
This is one of the best scenes in movie history! It's just amazing and unique! Great work!
‘Somebody please, tell me what that is...’
Me: ‘That, my friend is a violent, angry, smart shark...with a human battering ram...you might wanna Run.
Pretty clever of the Shark to use him as a Battering Ram !!!
That was indeed a lab shark in an enhanced intelligence.
Couldn't the Shark breake the glass itself?
@UUSER142 the sharks were probably worried about injuries to themselves
This might actually be the best shark film ever made (outside of the jaws franchise standards)
💯
Jaws and Jaws 2 at least. The last two are abysmal.
@@maxfrankow1238 actually I consider Jaws 3 to be painfully overhated, even if there are some understandable points
The creaking of that glass echoing through the water.
All Thomas Jane did in this movie was fall and slip around
Yep
And survive while his friends all got eaten
Actually, he was rather pivotal.
@@edwardkennedy8494 nah what about LL cool J?
What about riding sharks?
The girl's reaction when the impact with the glass is made has stuck with me since I was child.

pretty creepy, the music was good for this scene, made you feel creeped out, and the idea of being carried through the water in the jaws of a giant shark while strapped to a gurney is terrifying... the idea of seeing that slowly coming into view barreling towards you is maybe scarier

I think this movie is the GOOD version of Jaws 3-D.
I remember when this movie used to scare the shit out me when I was younger.
If I was in that situation, I would be like "holy shit!! I'm outta here!!" and sprinted the hell out of there. But in this movie, they just stand still. People do that a lot in the movies. Standing still for no reason.

Gotta wait for the plot to kick in. xD

The shark said ‘yeeet’
Funny fact: Carter is last one up the stairs and first one through door before the others, maybe a foreshadow that he's the only one in the group to survive.
There not need to be a foreshadow. He's the protagonist, so, of course, he survives.
@@SuperVladdrakula Yeah, but Sam Jackson the big man in the movie was expected to be hero and then out of nowhere he gets eaten alive. Leaving Carter to be the hero and Preacher.
@@Adamdow95 Np, it was fairly obvious from the beginning that Carter is the hero and protagonist.
@@SuperVladdrakula Yeah but at first everybody in the movies were shocked when Sam got eaten cos we think he's gonna be the hero then it turns out to be Carter is the hero. The director says it's like Alien: most of the cast is unknown besides Tom Skerritt who's the captain and looks like he's gonna fight the alien and then he gets taken away and everyone is left shocked wondering anything can happen.
@@SuperVladdrakula Of course Carter is the hero I like his character and Preacher. I just meant how shocking Sam Jackson's character is killed off and everyone, well (mostly) everyone didn't see that coming. By the way Deep Blue Sea and Jaws are my childhood movies so don't slag me off.

I don't know why this death scene made me feel so sad!! ;-;
Attack On CutenessTM Agreed. The most horrifying deaths are the ones where you genuinely feel sad for the characters, like the first death in Alien
Maybe because the guy that died (Jim Whitlock) had his arm bitten off, fell into the water with the stretcher from a helicopter, got hit with a window by a shark and got drowned by tons of water?
The scariest part is the sharks, with their intelligence, had plenty of time to scout for the weak points. They knew exactly what they were doing.
