    When I was a kid, my Uncle was the one to first show me Star Wars. He was so excited for me to experience it for the first time. As I got older, he and my dad took me to the theatrical re-release of the original trilogy, as well as the prequel trilogy. Those are some of my fondest memories.
    Star Wars really started my love of sci-fi and space. It is definitely a series with ups and downs, but it is an amazing universe.

    Glad to hear Barrett there at the end sticking up for the animated corners of Star Wars media. It doesn't make sense for them to be covered on this show since Rebels never got a theatrical movie and the Clone Wars film doesn't do the series justice, but the shout out is nice to hear. Good on ya, Barrett!

    I always thought that the whole "Wedge from Tatooine" is because Denis Lawson (who played Wedge) is the real-life uncle of Ewan McGregor.
    But Wedge's last name is "Antilles" which - *checks wookiepedia* - wait, this dude is from CORELLIA? I thought he'd have been from Alderaan, like Captain Antilles

    • @white-dragon4424
      @white-dragon4424 4 года назад

      Wedge isn't related to Captain Antilles, just like I'm not related in any way to a chap in town who's got my exact same name. From what I've read, "Antilles" is like the "Smith" of Star Wars.

    I listened to this at work, I didn’t care who seen me laughing, crying, getting chills... whatever the effect was. This was a journey guys.
    I don’t know if it’s because Star Wars, especially this movie holds the biggest part of my heart and means so god damn much to me. So yeah I’m probably a little biased. But guys, this is one of the best in reviews y’all have ever done imo. The others were amazing, but this, this was something special. Could be because I just got to listen to you 4 guys just love all over this movie as much as I do. Still, this was great!

  • @MikeSW
    @MikeSW 5 лет назад +1

    One of my favorite things about this movie is how quaint it is in its direction. When we are first introduced to characters they never seem to have any real importance to them. Luke just wanders into the shot when he is first introduced. Lots of landscapes and wide shots with groups of people interacting instead of close ups on individuals. The only person who has his presence underscored is Vader (and to a lesser extent Leia). It really gets across the idea that these are people of power in this Universe, that it's a big place that Luke is stepping out into. Most of the introduction doesn't even feature the main cast, just the Mcguffin that's being pursued by the collective forces at play.
    Very subdued, which lends to the films feeling of authenticity.

    When you mentioned the badass nature of the Stormtrooper's uniforms it's interesting to remember that the Empire rise to power is strongly bassed of the Nazi's, with Palpatine's rise to power following Hitler's closely. That being said Hugo Boss along with other well know designers ended up designing some of the Nazi's uniforms because they understood the importance of a clean, organizedand controlled look in a facist society.

    @1:24:24 the reason that is a sick burn by Obi-Wan "Only a master of evil, Darth" is because Anakin was never "good enough" to receive the rank of "master" by the Jedi even though He was placed on the council and it infuriated him in Revenge of the Sith. HA! never thought of that till not but damn Ani... need some aloe for that burn? Actually the dude was basically barbecued on Mustafar prior to the insult so no matter what he needs it.

    There are other little details with Leia that make her seem like she is legitimately a leader and not just the wanton female trope you see nowadays like when Luke is getting ready to swing across the chasm and she says, "Good luck". She tends to assess a situation on her own, but trusts players in any given scenario to play their role and won't just get out of the way of that but will keep them positive and focused on what they are doing (except for when they have an ego that creates friction in a team like with Han). That's something that we are going to lose as we get closer and closer to the modern movies (prequels/Disney saga).

  • @LoganFerguson
    @LoganFerguson 5 лет назад +4

    All I ask when you get to the prequels is pay attention to how complex the story is, most importantly the plot of Palpatine's. Yes, they're more boring and slower. Yes, alot of the acting and script in general sucks. But the plot is fucking amazing, and I can't wait till the entire saga gets remade all at once Harry Potter style with consistent visuals throughout the entire saga.

    • @LoganFerguson
      @LoganFerguson 5 лет назад

      @@DanV900 They're not getting remade any time soon, but they will be remade in 30-50 years, guaranteed. Movie technology will be so beyond what we can even imagine by then that they'll have too, because no one but vintage history buffs will watch it, and by then Hollywood will be recycling ideas for the 17th time.

    Because why are there rats the size of minivans out in this bitch?

    • @white-dragon4424
      @white-dragon4424 4 года назад

      Womp Rats are large two meter long rats that live in the deserts of Tatooine. Luke used to enjoy using them as target practice in his T-16 Skyhopper, a vehicle that's like a mini one man Lambda-class shuttle with X-Wing controls. That's why Luke was able to become an instant X-Wing pilot at the end of the movie, because he was used to the controls of the X-Wing. You see a glimpse of his T-16 parked in the background of the garage when Luke's playing with a model of his T-16.

      @@lenzomania Let's hope they actually give it a fair shot after watching the abominations that were the prequels. People only hate TLJ for stupid reasons.

      The Last Jedi makes a lot of stupid storytelling decisions that kind of mess up the overarching story, but its not a bad movie.

    Millennial's....Don't fall for the lie, it's just Star Wars, not a new hope, not episode 4, that is all retcon. I saw this at the cinema in 1977, and it was just Star Wars, fact !! :D

    My theory always was that Skywalker was a slave name and there are plenty of them. It makes sense since Anakin started as a slave with his mother.

    I could never get into Rebels or Clone Wars. I even watched all of the recommended “best arcs” from Clone Wars and Rebels but the pacing, dialogue and voice acting never sold me on it. Felt too geared to kids. No disrespect to those that like them though. I wish I could since I love the movies.

      Same here. I respect what makes the shows great, there’s a lot to love, but it doesn’t feel what I expect traditionally from Star Wars, and so I sometimes struggle to square it away in my mind, if that makes sense.
      I know it’s stupid too, because I’m able to easily accept the spinoffs, despite the fact that they both feel really different from the main Star Wars movies.
