I floated across a sharp piece of metal on the Blackfoot. It cut a 3 foot gash in the RH chamber of my Sea Eagle. I always carry a tub of Shoo Goo. I over lapped the edges and gobed on the glue, let it dry over night. I floated next day. My son slept on the ground and let me use his boat. I use duct tape on my fabric kayak.

Good but which side of the patch material goes on outside?
Hi! I have the same inflatable kayak(SE 330) and would like to ask you something. You see, i discovered just recently that it has a small puncture very very close to the blue hard plastic handle(where the rope passes into). Is there any way i cam remove the blue hard plastic handle and if so, how? I want to remove it so that i can patch the hole properly. Thanks for you answer buddy.
At what temperatures is it recommended to do the patch work? Outside 40-80F or some such? Thanks!
Nice video, the alcohol and masking tape ideas are wise. I made an emergency repair on an island after a catfish barb caused a small hole. I had a lot of trouble keeping the patch from rolling up. Obviously, the surfaces weren't pristine but they were dry and clean. Did you have this problem? or any tips on how to overcome it? I plan to redo the patch now that I am on dry land.
Sometimes a little heat on the patch helps to keep it pliable before you start the glueing process. Lots of material comes rolled up but the patch needs to be flat. A hair dryer could do. An important note is to make sure that both sides become hazy before pressing them together, unless the glue you use says otherwise. If you have access to it, a small roller is perfect for removing all the air bubbles between layers. Then,use a heavy weight that evenly applies pressure to the patch to give it it's best chance for complete patch adhesion.
I also have a Sea Eagle with a mouse hole. Sea Eagle recommended a double patch, one internal and one external to "sandwich" the hole. Do you have a video on this type of patching? Or, if the hole in my kayak is not much bigger than the one in this video, do you think I need to go through the extra bother? Thanks!
Using a double patch is the best way to ensure the hole is completely sealed. Discretion is needed though to determine if the hole is worth using a double patch. This kayak repair is still holding up great with no signs of it pealing or failing. I currently don't have a video made for a double patch, but i should post one for reference.
what kind of glue is it? Can it be bought at a regular store?
There should be no sharp corners on the patches, only smooth curves
textured or smoother side towards the glue?
smooth, but not shiny. if it has a gloss or shine to it, you should scuff it up with sand paper prior to glueing!
Should be using gloves to avoid contaminating adhesive surfaces
Are you trying to teach people to be wasteful of the patch material by cutting your circle from the center of the patch, instead of on the edge?
