ABOUT KIM'S CONVENIENCE:
"Kim's Convenience" depicts a Korean Canadian Kim family that runs a convenience store in the Moss Park neighbourhood of Toronto: parents "Appa" (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and "Umma" (Jean Yoon) - Korean for dad and mom, respectively - along with their daughter Janet (Andrea Bang) and estranged son Jung (Simu Liu). Other characters include Jung's friend and coworker Kimchee (Andrew Phung) and his manager Shannon (Nicole Power). The series is based on Ins Choi's 2011 play of the same name. Mr. and Mrs. Kim have worked hard to give their now-twenty-something children, Janet and Jung, a better life in Canada. This comedy finds laughter in the trials of running a literal 'Mom and Pop' shop while raising kids in a culture not quite your own.

Oh, man, I'd forgotten how big a crush I had on Janet. Andrea Bang makes her infuriating and vulnerable at the same time. Just adorable.
I love the moment when Janet screams “UMMA” about how Umma used a pre-packaged Bindae-tteok instead of making it from scratch.

Honestly imma be honest here. Andrea Bang is a really good actor, i like how she makes me feel bad abt her, how she makes me annoyed at her how, she acts her own way. Hope to see more of her in the future!

most disappointing character on the show - she never really grew or had a satisfying story arc
instead they kind of just tossed up random stories and see if they went anywhere - but they never did

idk - IMO jung and appa had the only good arcs in the show.
I disagree. Janet was the anchor of the show. Sure she didn't suddenly turn into some super confident, boss lady, but she had some characteristics that were distinctly her. Not every character needs to transform in a drastic or dramatic way. Her growth was subtle and with only a handful of seasons, of course you wouldn't see the MAIN character of the show change too much. Perhaps if there were more seasons, then yes it would be more fair to demand the kind of growth/story arch u r seeking. If you're talking about her romantic interests in the show then yeah it was definitely a lil all over the place but again, for anything deep to develop on that front, you definitely need more time (seasons).
@@honour7495 I definitely see your point, but as much as this was mostly Appa's show, her acting (though all 6 and other supporting parts were terrific) may have been the very best. So natural.
