While Im still skeptical about all the rumors, if this is truly it, then you guys really gave it the sendoff it deserved that Six Flags and Cedar Fair just wouldn't provide. Ka is too iconic, and was THE coaster for thousands of enthusiasts worldwide, to go out on a wimper.

From what I've been hearing, this might exactly be the case. Apparently a final decision with Ka hasn't been reached as far as its replacement but the ride will not be undergoing its usual off-season maintenance.
Based on permit filings, my suspicion is that they will be extending Kingda Ka's layout like they wanted to do with TTD. My gut tells me Intamin is involved, and they needed the space where current rides sit. Kingda Ka will also get all new track in existing locations, I think, as these will be new gen Intamin trains.
They applied for permits to demolish green lantern and a few other flat rides. Notably they DID NOT apply for a permit to demo KK. While KK would be a bigger demo project it’s odd they haven’t at least applied for the permit to demo it along with the others. This makes me think of 2 possibilities. 1. They haven’t reached a final decision on what they’re going to do with KK Or 2. They don’t plan to demolish it and will instead reimagine it or at the very least change it to an LSM launch
From what I've most recently heard, they haven't finalized on a plan for what they're doing with Ka. Corporate isn't funding the usual off-season maintenance of Ka so if it is still standing next year, it won't be operating.
@@ElToroRyan I’m thinking a reimagining is no longer a non zero possibility here. I suspect there is some infighting among leadership regarding if they should refurb it or remove it all together

What you mentioned at the end -- that Ka has been running reliably lately -- is what makes this abrupt Cedar-Fair-induced closure such a shame! The park's maintenance team have done a great job keeping it running, despite the difficulty and cost, and it's just so tragic that it probably COULD have gone at least a couple more years before reaching the end of its service life if given the chance. 😢

Six Flags could have made a statement at any point because obviously fans would have made the effort to go to the park and Six Flags never said a word. Thankfully I went to the park back in June so I got a final ride but it still sucks that this was the outcome.
They want remove Ka, they will just have Intamin to build a giga where Green Lantern now sit and combine the two. The Ka that now exists is the ending of the coaster not the beginning. Lsm motors would be used to help propel the coaster over the top hat.. It's just my guess

Hey Ryan what time did you guys get into the park and started waiting in line? We got in line for Kingdom Ka at around 5:30 and rode it around 6pm. The waiting list signs said it had a 150 minute wait and they wouldn't let us use our once a year member flash pass saying member passes were sold out for Kingda Ka, so we ran over there figuring we would be lucky to get on before the park closed. We were surprised how fast the line really moved and the energy was awesome. Sorry we didn't get to meet you guys, I figured you'd be there if you could.
I finally made it to Great Adventure exactly one month ago today 10-13-2024. I'm glad that I got to ride this behemoth. I hope it wasn't the only time.
I'm hoping this is simply a new beginning like it was for Dragster. I mean how could they possibly not even announce it was closing. I think maybe Ka is just evolving.
I love how the people against these rumours went from saying "No it's not going anywhere" to "it's getting the TT2 treatment" like okay, that still means the hydraulic launch and Ka as it currently is will be gone. You can't claim that Top Thrill Dragster didn't go anywhere at Cedar Point can you, really? I don't have a dog in this fight tho, since I'm half the world away and won't ride it ever probably stay or leave.
I live in UK and this was one of my all time bucket coasters (sadly couldn't afford to go to America until pretty much this last year or so) - now I'll never get to ride it. This closure, if true, screams of shareholder dividends over community experience - and if so, shame on them!
if this is true, i will miss kingda ka forever, and while ill miss lantern less (even if i liked that ride more), losing kingda ka with no announcement whatsoever before it closed is a downright gut punch to not only enthusiasts, but everybody. corporate SF should really find a better way to handle this in the future.
I flew out from Austin, TX to give it some rides, thank you for the heads up! I would have been so mad/sad if I didn't get to ride. Sucks I wasn't able to ride El Toro when I was there as it was closed. Is the music in most your videos the Kingda Ka station music? Sounds very familiar! But RIP Kingda Ka, what an icon.
I dont get why they aren't doing last rides and announcements anymore. It disrespectful to the coaster enthusists who view these more than rides but as pieces of history.
The announcement specifically used the word retired whereas they used the word removed for other rides. Also they put out an announcment for 6 flags parks for 2026 that GA would be getting a record breaking launch coaster. Seems like reimagined KK with swing launch is all but confirmed.
@@bensonr2 Follow-up statements clarified that KK is not getting reimagined and that it, plus Zumanjaro and the three other confirmed demos, will be removed to make way for the 2026 coaster.
I still think they are going to give the ride an overhaul similar to TT2. I have a very hard time believing that they would throw a 456ft tall roller coaster in the trash.
I traveled with the carnival and we had a week off we drove from middle ny to there and rode it in 09 there’s nothing else like it we need more coasters like it
Ka was also the last coaster I remember ever being legitimately freightened of. Just a guess but I dont think think that tower is going anywhere. Even if ka is gone they have to reuse it.
I only started getting into coasters a couple of years ago (and I'm 32 lol), so I have no nostalgia for this ride. But of course when you start getting into them you immediately think "Which is the tallest? Which is the fastest?" So I've been looking forward to riding this ride for a couple of years now. Watching videos of that launch legit get my heart pumping because it looks so intense. But as a southwesterner, it's clear on the other side of the US from me. So I just never had a chance :( I looked at booking a hotel and a flight last minute and it would've been like a grand, which I can't justify right now. I'm a new dad too, and I was hoping I could ride this with my son one day so I could tell him how brave he was. So I guess X2 will have to do for that now lol. At least that one is only like a 5-6 hour drive away.
The Cedar Fair ceo annoys me he has no business making decisions on Kingda Ka so quick this isnt his ride he should be worried about Top Thrill 2 and leave Kingda Ka alone hes making a lot of people angry😡 when he really has no business in this park. He thinks this is the WWE being the evil boss hahaha get a grip this is reality and people are getting fed up destroying our park when everyone was perfectly happy before its mot fair to the guests who purchased season passes either perhaps we should go down to North Carolina and have a word with this clown 🤔
This is thing is either staying in it’s OG form or getting reimagined. If they would’ve wanted to demolish it they wouldve filed permits with Twister green lantern and parachutes
Glad I got to ride it back in 2017. Sad I’ve been dragging my feet on going back to SFGAd. The past few years with El Toro being closed, it just didn’t seem to make sense for the 6+ hour drive. Hopeful for a re-imagining because this is probably the most iconic ride to ever close and with no official announcement. Boo six flags for that. Not cool.
Personally I feel like they didn't announce its closure because they feared a major part would break two days later causing it to never reopen and would be an even bigger PR disaster.

Appreciate the Saves The Day song at the beginning. Very appropriate.
Never got to ride Kingda Ka, sadly. RIP to the King :(
Hey Ryan what time did you guys get into the park and started waiting in line? We got in line for Kingdom Ka at around 5:30 and rode it around 6pm. The waiting list signs said it had a 150 minute wait and they wouldn't let us use our once a year member flash pass saying member passes were sold out for Kingda Ka, so we ran over there figuring we would be lucky to get on before the park closed. We were surprised how fast the line really moved and the energy was awesome. Sorry we didn't get to meet you guys, I figured you'd be there if you could.
I see the denialists are now racing from “it’s not shutting down!!” to “it’s just a reimagining!!”
I don't think the suits in the new six flags understand how much this ride means.
I finally made it to Great Adventure exactly one month ago today 10-13-2024. I'm glad that I got to ride this behemoth. I hope it wasn't the only time.
Whatever it is, I seriously hope its intense! Kingda Ka better not be replaced by a family friendly coaster!
I flew out from California earlier this year just based on a hunch and TT2. Glad I did!! 🎉
I'm hoping this is simply a new beginning like it was for Dragster. I mean how could they possibly not even announce it was closing. I think maybe Ka is just evolving.
Now confirmed kingda ka is now a part of roller coaster history.
I’m so happy I got to ride it Sunday also I’m happy I got to work on it 2008 and 2009 I gotten two rollbacks on it long live the king
Woah I didn't know Uncle Nate had eyes!!
Flew in from Miami too, just to ride it for my first time that day. Definitely worth it.
Long Live the king. I got my first and last ride on Sunday and I regret procrastinating going on it when I could have. Thanks for the sad info.
So much for the merger being good for consumers
El Toro Lyin'
😂
It was confirmed to be completely removed today lmao
Me when they announce the reimagined Kingda Ka 2 with a spike in Green Lantern’s plot of land:
Hopefully not built by Zamperla 😅
Now confirmed kingda ka is now a part of roller coaster history.
Ryan I was the attendant on the unload side that said what up to you. Very sad this ride is going. But awesome I got to see y’all.
Just announced it is getting removed, that's horrible... I'm so glad i got to ride it
The announcement specifically used the word retired whereas they used the word removed for other rides.
Kingda Ka 2 baby!!!
Well ... We can hope.
Coming in 2026, Kingda Ka Reimagined ; KINGDA KAKA
You got to send this video to Six Flags corporate
I still think they are going to give the ride an overhaul similar to TT2. I have a very hard time believing that they would throw a 456ft tall roller coaster in the trash.
Now confirmed kingda ka is now a part of roller coaster history.
Uncle Nate brought that sticker that was on the trash can during the switchbacks??? I wanna buy one!! Long Live the King!!
The comment section didn't age well. Shouldn't doubt ElToroRyan
Rip. Ka. We will miss you.
Thank you el toro Ryan and coaster studios for giving us great information
Fools. You don't even know its really closing.
Thanks for my closeup, mang. 😂
I traveled with the carnival and we had a week off we drove from middle ny to there and rode it in 09 there’s nothing else like it we need more coasters like it
Top thrill 2 is exactly like it at cedar point it was actually around first ka was based off it
Ka was also the last coaster I remember ever being legitimately freightened of.
I saw a permit for the demolition of the Park Entrance pop up somewhere. Is this park also getting a brand new Park gate?
You're the best Ryan!!
1999: The war on lines
2025: The lines fight back
The Cedar Fair ceo annoys me he has no business making decisions on Kingda Ka so quick this isnt his ride he should be worried about Top Thrill 2 and leave Kingda Ka alone hes making a lot of people angry😡 when he really has no business in this park. He thinks this is the WWE being the evil boss hahaha get a grip this is reality and people are getting fed up destroying our park when everyone was perfectly happy before its mot fair to the guests who purchased season passes either perhaps we should go down to North Carolina and have a word with this clown 🤔
Now what would've happened if dragster didn't happen? Also, this proves that when Millie closes there will be a global uproar.
*if Millie closes. I could see it sticking around basically forever with proper maintenance and retracking.
This is thing is either staying in it’s OG form or getting reimagined. If they would’ve wanted to demolish it they wouldve filed permits with Twister green lantern and parachutes
Absolutely unbelievable, my heart goes out to the north eastern thoosies who hold it near and dear
You should probably verify with the park that it's actually closing permanently before declaring that it is here
Nice bit of Saves the day there!
Close down the park and send El Toro to Magic Mountain. 🤪
lets trade Superman Escape from Krypton for Kingda Ka
Why are they removing Green Lantern? Seems it hasn't been around that long, ever since GASM was removed in '11?
Glad I got to ride it back in 2017. Sad I’ve been dragging my feet on going back to SFGAd. The past few years with El Toro being closed, it just didn’t seem to make sense for the 6+ hour drive. Hopeful for a re-imagining because this is probably the most iconic ride to ever close and with no official announcement. Boo six flags for that. Not cool.
Now can you finally reveal what the real launch speed was?
The warning at the beginning should have been the opposite. I am too fun to enjoy something so serious 😢
Personally I feel like they didn't announce its closure because they feared a major part would break two days later causing it to never reopen and would be an even bigger PR disaster.
