So after trying one with Davidson and getting just absolutely destroyed, and adding Barry to the mix as well as the Finnish Heavy Engineers turning into a success I had to try this one - 4x Heroic Soviet AI vs Finland in midwar. In hindsight I should've built the bunkers back more towards my spawn but I was worried about them overrunning the point.. What do you think, what should I play next? Let me know!

Well played Sherm! Using the weakest military (available) against arguably the toughest on the hardest setting 4 vs. 1 😬 - yikes! The only suggestion I'd have for playing against such tough odds would be to use the 'auto-medics' mod. 🤔. With such a tremendous amount of micro. to be done would help a bit with the workload & saved exp. points. Can totally understand why he didn't even bother getting & managing them with so much other stuff to do (my 🧠would have overloaded 🤯). Barry & Davidson would appreciate that mod. when Sherm. does missions against 'Heroic' difficulty level enemies with them 😉. Also having a 1/2 hour of time (edited out from video 😏) to deploy mines & built heavy fortifications I'm sure Barry & Davidson would like 😁as well. Best wishes!
The ricochet off the t-28 onto the t-34 at 19:00 was priceless, synced up with you talking about the t-34. Would love to see the Americans or Germans defending vs 4x heroic AIs next time!

These Last stand video's have been great! Glad to find someone playing it more than once haha!
I think what is quite underrated is one Landmines, especially on this map, you can mine the flanks and get a few tanks for some breathing room
2. Infantry support guns like the le.Ig 75mm are actually quite potent with heat against most vehicles, have a tiny profile and incredible damage with infantry.
3. Forward infantry, Infantry should be in foxholes 10 to 20 meters ahead of your gunline or tanks, they can crouch if they get overwhelmed but the line of sight, especially from officers is very important.
4. Put your gunline at the back of an objective and be very mindful of elevation, the Hills allow tanks to get way close before your guns can engage.
5. 100mm equivalent artillery with a long barrel like the 10cm Sk 18 or the soviet 122 have a high firerate and range are awesome for counterbattery fire, and if entrenched in a tank ditch are viable AT guns in a pinch
Also prime movers like the t-20 of the russians and finns are better than machine guns because they are better armored, can tow light guns, and are not that much more expensive than a MG. In general CP is more limiting than Manpower, so a tank with 2 mgs and a gun or flamethrower is often worth it.
The best defensive faction probably is the Soviets because the KV-1 is incredible value and can take incredible hits, and when backed by a 100mm or 85mm gun whatever shoots at the KV will be killed by the AT gun. With Prep time and delaying some units you can buy one just as the first wave hits.
Tough using Call in, DP points to get Engineers from Finn defensive is incredibly valuable as well because, the saved MP can be used to buy artillery that the engineers prep for.
Honorary mention of AT Detachments that are entrenched on flanking routes and gren. Riflemen for being cheap but effective. And MG detachments for just bringing a ton of firepower, Snipers can also rack up serious kill counts if they have a meatshield.
Edit: The Finns have to be the best defensive faction with a 1:30 t34-85 call in for 300MP that is value you can not beat if entrenched and with enough supporting inf to give visibility (The engineers sitting in their emplacements with smgs are good for this.)

2 ideas. If there's a starwars mod then this would be cool, like the Rebels VS Empire. Or Clones VS CIS. Second Idea is the Japanese as its the final days of the war, its the Last Stand against the US it'd also be cool to see how the Japanese equipment fairs
Honestly I'd just love to see a video of this game mode that actually ends in victory.
My last video on it did end in victory, defended for an hour and easily won I guess

You should try a map thats in the workshop called something like "ez pz last stand" has a dog as its picture, do it vs like 8 heroics

I was thinking of doing a mod for sure, I just wonder if they work or not..
@@theShermanator tried it out prior the update. also another modern era mod... at that point the ranges from tanks where over the whole map... not ideal for the maps present but with an bigger map mod perhaps a viable option.
@@theShermanator It works perfectly, I tried it. Other mods that are up to date should work fine, too.
Bro just create a massive fort with trenches tank traps mines plenty of infratry and just an unholy amount of big guns, give yourselve like ten minutes to get solid fortifications😂😂😂

Random question but has anyone noticed when playing defense on cev2 mod the enemy comes from different positions from where the map tells you they will come from? - new player here
I really need to check out CE2 which I guess is unrelated to what you said mostly but I have no idea sadly - would recommend asking the devs of the mod
Dumb question, but is the Finnish DLC required to build the heavy fortifications as any faction?
afaik only the Finns have these heavy engineers that can make fortifications

Nice attempt, but you probably want a second player (non ai) at least with you so the ai doesnt overthrow you by sheer numbers.

I think because its a 4v1 the game gives me the equivalent of a total of 4 players worth of popcap, DP and MP - I _think_
@@theShermanator This is correct. It will try to balance it out by giving you more stuff as you're against more enemies.

Ive retired from PvP, it got old winning all the time, even beating the top AS2 PvP players back in the day 😂

Men at War 1? I assume you mean Men of War and I assume you mean Men of War Assault Squad 1&2 right? And even then, no, by now, Gates of Hell has definitely overtaken MoWAS1&2 for me
