Paul and Linda were together for 29 years until her death from cancer. He was often criticized for writing silly love songs, so he wrote "Silly Love Songs" as a response. Every love song he wrote was for Linda.

Back in 1980 Paul was busted fro bringing pot into Japan, a small bag of personal smoke. He spent several days in jail while facing potentially a multi-year prison sentence, and from what I understand it was the first time he slept alone without Linda since the day they were married. RIP Mrs. McCartney.

His wife, Linda, was the person who helped him through The Beatles' breakup. It was very rough for Paul, they'd all gone through something that most humans will never experience, and he and John had been friends since they were young. When John started lashing out at Paul in the press, it was heartbreaking. Paul didn't know what was going to happen with his life but Linda kept him grounded, loved etc. She was a very down to earth person who kept him from falling apart & he found his direction, with her as his partner, for 3 decades.

I would call Monkberry Moon Delight or pretty much anything from Ram the opposite of silly love songs! This one sounds a lot like his Beatles' fare to me. Loved when he got creative with his second album, and then Band on the Run and some others.

The vocal control and emotional intensity of his singing here are incredible. I love all of this album (recorded while he was still technically a Beatle) with its lo-fi, homespun production and artistic honesty. Try Junk (there's a vocal and and instrumemtal version on the album) and for a real tear-jerker, Teddy Boy. A unique talent.

You can tell from the pics in the montage that they had a really sweet relationship. You can sense the daddy-daughter bond. I don't know if Heather's real father was ever in the picture but it was clear Paul was there to take up the role and she was completely happy with that.

Gorgeous song from a gorgeous album. Glad you chose the album track and not a live version. I was 10 when this came out, and this album got as much play in our house as any of the Beatles albums. I was also in love with the photos on the album jacket, most of which make up the video here. Linda was a photographer and published several books of photos, worth checking out!

Hi Lee, one nice hidden easter egg is around 3:50 (in your video) when you can hear Paul & Linda's infant daughter Mary gurgling on the floor of the studio where she was playing as Paul recorded. He was at a real low in his life at this point post-Beatles, prey to drink and depression. Linda rescued him and the song celebrates that. Magic moment with the organ punching in at 4:12, never fails to make my hair stand up...
It's hard to recommend highlights from McCartney's solo cannon, it's so vast and varied (in a way he's a victim of his own creative fertility - hard to pigeon-hole). Grabbing a triple-album's worth almost at random from my favs, here's a suggested playlist that ought to make anybody think twice who has ever said he was done after the Beatles:
    Distractions
    House of Wax
    Here Today
    Beautiful Night
    Dance Till We're High
    Little Lamb Dragonfly
    Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five
    Riding To Vanity Fair
    Hope of Deliverance
    Back On My Feet
    Mr Bellamy
    Dear Boy
    Waterfalls
    I'm Carrying
    No More Lonely Nights
    The Note You Never Wrote
    You Gave Me the Answer
    Jenny Wren
    Mull of Kintyre
    Kicked Around No More
    Letting Go
    We All Stand Together
    Little Willow
    Somedays
    The Pound is Sinking
    Live And Let Die
    Why So Blue?
    Mrs Vanderbilt
    Wanderlust
    The World Tonight
    Summer of '59
    Tug Of War
