I’m just happy seeing aliens in Star Wars again
Same
I loved the dialogue where KB says something like, "Look, Aliens" and then Neel says, "They are so weird looking" - I like when writers get it. Star Wars is stealing a bit of Star Trek spice.
@@withershinI found that line SUPER jarring! Has the word “aliens” ever been used in Star Wars before? Particularly on screen?
Just a little memberberries is good enough.
@@3xPin I mean At Attin is a unique planet in SW that has been intentionally isolated from the rest of the galaxy since the Old Republic(thousands of years ago) so it's basically Earth 2.0. Thus the kids have every right to call those people on the starport "Aliens".
The droid is a first mate called Smee 😂
Smee,.. smee don’t stop me Smee.
Smee stop me.
I caught that too SM33.
Turned to my lady and said "it's fuckin Smee" 😂

I legit didn't even catch that, omg
@@stehfreejesseah7893Hook Hook Hook Hook!!!
If I had a nickel for every time Star Wars had a brothel on screen I’d have 2 nickels, which is not much but it’s weird that it happened twice.
All those aliens have needs man. Very small needs mind you...
Two brothels for the whole galaxy seems wild.
Jabba has a sex slave, and she dances for everyone. It’s as close as George would go, at that time.
It’s hilarious, how dark parts of RotJ are, then how goofy it gets, cutting back and forth, from dark to goof, at one point.
I thought that place was a strip club.
Another reminder of how much I miss Andor 😭
Simpsons reference
The look and feel of At-Attin actually works quite well for me. As strange as it is to say, a planet that feels like Earth really does give off a suitably alien vibe. Like everything is just a little too good to be true for the Star Wars universe. Star Wars is known for it's messy and overbearing environments (like the space station in episode 2). At-Attin being so structured and organized immediately sets off some alarm bells. The only other galactic entity with similar protocol is the Empire.
Exactly! At-Attin clearly isn’t what it seems on the surface, so I think the design of the planet was intentionally to give it a “too good to be true” vibe
@@MandatoryFruit it starts out kind of cultish with “the Great Work” but then gets a little 1984/Orwellian with the safety droids and speak of “The Supervisor” after the second episode cold open.
also the kinda fascist approach everyone except the kids seem to have. Security Droids everywhere, automation as much as possible.
@@3xPinnot to mention taking a test in grade school that will lock you into your future career
@@mikepatton8691 and did you notice all the “careers” are pretty much the same job but with different and fancy names? Everyone seems like a middle management analyst. And the “studying” sounds like gibberish with numbers in it.
It was fun. It was charming. It kept me entertained and I want to see more! And they managed it without dragging any established lore and characters through the mud (so far). I feel like I'm watching an old Star Wars Tales comic with some random little hilarious side story, similar to what you said.
Is it really actually good for adults? I thought it was more of a kid show....?
@@ChristoffRevan It gave me a chuckle, and I wasn't bored. So at least decent. And while the plot isn't seemingly that deep, there was some potential dystopian stuff that would fly right over a kids head

Pirate story references galore.
Also "Wim" is suspiciously close to "Jim" (Hawkins)
I'm loving the prop design. The 70s vector based screens are such a great inclusion.
Fantastic sets
The security droids. The ban on starships. The pre-Imperial Republic credits. A planet populated by administrators. I have a strong feeling that this may be the location of Palpatine's "war chest".
The children may not have experience, but they are all very good actors. Never underestimate the ability of kids to perform just because of past issues with SW failing to script and direct them correctly.
As I said on another channel, this might be the success that KK wanted before she retires.
Since the jedi are openly glorified on this planet, I want to guess this place is pre Empire, perhaps isolated during the High Republic Era.
@@CullenRick II think it/‘s more likely the planet managed to hide itself from the Empire with their barrier. Most likely a comment on the kind of middle class communities who gate themselves away and ignore the problems of the world.
@@smittyjjensin558 one of the pirates did say old republic credits.
@@BornForBBQ Keep in mind that "Old Republic" meaning the republic (way) before 1000 BBY is mostly an out of universe thing.
When an old republic is mentioned by star wars characters they are usually talking about the republic in the time period during and immediately before the clone wars, as opposed to the empire or the new republic (after the empire).
@@qdaniele97maybe.
Too early to say.
I actually loved the suburbanized look at At Atton. The point is how eerily familiar is it and the underlying mystery on the planet itself. Those security droids literally have surveillance cameras for heads and give that Big Brother is Watching vibe
It reminded me of the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands
Its not 'eerly familar' for someone not growing up there though 😢 for me the whole At atton destroyed my immersion cause all i Thinking was how different growing up in USA is than in my place

Good to hear it doesn't suck! Im waiting till Andor S2 before I activate disney minus.
Hoping we get more Mon Mothma scenes
I mean, if they've given you Andor and now this in the last couple of years, maybe it's not as bad as you're told to think it is.
Disney Minus is amazing 😂
Same here.
@@FayzerYT Thanks, I cracked myself up when I came up with it
I can see why Disney was overly cautious about the drop simply due to how bad their track record has been this year
They only had one flop my guy and that was the acolyte moana 2 seems mid and doing well despite the reviews and mufasa has not come out yet but it looks good
It gives the real fans an opportunity to watch the show and make up their own minds about the show, without some clickbait hungry reviewer offering their opinion on why this scene or that choice didn't work for them. Why they bother giving these nobodies early access is mindboggling. It's just opinion, not fact.
@@JackRipper8881 Absolutely this. If anything I bet Acolyte would have done better without all the naysayers jumping in before the initial drop. They should treat all their shows with a subdued pre-launch marketing push like they did Skeleton Crew. The overbearing youtube hype and anti-hype has a definite effect on the mood of viewers. Too often we see actual viewers have differing opinions to the youtube pundits for all these franchises like Star Wars and Marvel and the youtubers have an outsized effect on actual viewership with people not trying the shows for themselves even if they were to eventually like it. Lets just make up our own minds.
@@Sparksparky1Book of Boba wasn't a commercial flop?

Did you spot the OG Falcon concept model in the background of the Pirate port?
I didn’t but I saw it online
@@kitfistosdentalplan1319 I'll look for it!
Haven’t seen the show yet but wasn’t the concept model based on the Eagle from Space 1999 and later on used for the Blockade Runner?
@@KenshoBeatsit wasn't based on Space 1999, Lucasfilm had the concept design first, but Space 1999 being a TV show was faster with production and release. And George didn't want the Falcon to look like another ship from another IP and that is the reason for the design change.
@ when was the ship designed then?
One thing I like about Skeleton Crew is that it is doing a spin on Star Wars that Star Wars hasn't really done much of before. It's gritty and like a futuristic Earth in some aspects. It's wacky and almost typical Sci-Fi in other aspects. It really makes this show a stand out and the fact it is doing something new and it is working is great. It certainly wont be for every Star Wars fan, but they have really done well with it. I am also betting Captain Silvo and Jod are the same character. They sound almost the same, even their pronounciations and accent are the same.

low expectations and I came away thoroughly entertained, very reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, Goonies, and Hook. Generally didn’t care about the show beforehand but I do like it!
HOOOOOK!
I’ve just had an apostrophe!
The first mate’s name is literally SM33 (I.e. “Smee”), it’s brilliant
TBH, that's the problem most people have with anything Star Wars is that they place their expectations too high.
1st world problems
My first thought when I saw the trailer was, "Oh..so it's like Space Goonies. My kids would love it." I was happy that I can share my love for SW with my kids.
My first thoughs were from lego set onyx cinder and i seen many kids with flashlights and ghost crew so i thought that will be a horror about ghost hunting on abandoned ships and the adult guy cant see them so he gets a blaster instead of special flashlight
My only smol gripe so far is the runtime. Disney keep doing this shit of inconsistent episode runtime across their tv shows except for Andor.
Yessss, I thought the same. There was no reason to cut that second episode at 25 minutes. Filoni's shows always do this and it's irritating.
fr
That's an issue with plot driven storytelling. It's difficult to break it into acts.
The run time differences didn't bother me. Episode 2's shorter time was long enough for the story being told.
@@rensinclair4218 idk mate. Andor was averaging 40mins runtime and still had a good structure and cliffhangers every episode.
They’re tons of Earth-like places, suburbs, and cities in Star Wars like Dexter’s Diner in Attack of the Clones, Alderaan, Naboo, some parts of coruscant, Lothal, Yavin IV, and Corella as well, it’s a big galaxy and not everything is the same.
Idk how you can complain about earth-like places
Yeah, I mean, Tatooine looks like Earth, too. There is this country, Tunisia, that has some places that look kind of familiar...
Thousands of civilizations and who knows how many planets, it would be weird if someone didn't build something similar to Earth, like, come on
When people say "Earth like" they just mean America like. Usual American defaultism
Its like space cases, goonies, treasure planet, and pirates of the Caribbean. I love it.
Okay. That sounds too good to be true.
Ha. I friggin loved Space Cases. Feels like almost nobody remembers it

The droid kinda reminds me of barbossa a bit
Why all that???? Why not just b star wars? This show sucks
@krisrenaldi2602 that's your opinion, so don't watch it.
We've seen desert planets, ice planets, swamp planets, forest planets, Italian waterfalls planets, ocean planets, giant hole planets... so why not a suburb planet?
Because george lucas made sure nothing in the universe looks like its made by earth humans and thats why there is the feeling of a galaxy far far away it doesn’t feel like the future it feels like a different place but Disney can’t wrap their heads around that
@@potato_duud6166then why did George Lucas design/approve most buildings, cars, clothing, shoes, guns, FORKS & KNIVES etc… to be exactly like we have on earth?????
@@potato_duud6166 So, are we just conveniently going to forget things like Aunt Beru's denim jacket and all of the WWII weapons in the OT.

@ star wars have no cars the buildings dont look like any buildiwe have on earth the clothing was especially made to not have zippers or buttons because those are earthly creations the guns don’t look like any we have apart from a couple that look kinda like old german weapons and a fork and knife is not something that breaks the immersion of a galaxy far far away

I didn’t realize that Fern actress is the same girl from Firestarter, glad she’s still got a role after the Raspberry Awards were being mean to the girl.
They gave a razzie to kid? The firestarter remake sucked but that’s kind of f’efd up.
@ they didn’t they took her off that list.
The Raspberry Awards are, un my opinion, the most disgusting thing that Hollywood openly accepts. Obviously there's a bunch of far worse BS that goes in behind the scenes. But the fact that the Razzys are given any platform AT ALL is fucking crazy to me. There's nothing funny to me about putting actors on blast for things that are usually out if their control. ESPECIALLY when it involves actual children.
@@TheTrollingMaster-xr9el They nominated her, but rescinded the nomination after (rightfully) getting a ton of backlash.
I had forgotten about that movie till I recognised her. Of all the issues I had with the movie, the acting certainly wasn't one of them! The cast did very well
Came into it pretty skeptical. But I warmed up to it. As you said, the dynamics and acting is surprisingly well done. Those costumes for the aliens are top notch, too. I’d say the first episode was made better being released with episode 2, which is the stronger episode for sure.
The planet the kids come from has to have been “lost” for some time, if it’s a “myth”. By far the most intriguing mystery is Jud Na Nawood, Jude Law’s character. Looking up his first and last names doesn’t provide clear cut meanings, and they seem to have different interpretations in general. This could be a clue to how his character blends in, or can be many different things at once. If he is indeed a Jedi, perhaps he’s a different version of a Jedi.
The amount of bitterness in the comments good lord. Yes, we get it. Disney made Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett and Acolyte. Judge something by it's own merits. Interacting with the fandom at times is so misarable as even when something is good - it'll turn back to fixating on something else entirely to complain. It's a good light hearted show in Star Wars. No one forcing you to watch it, nor is "darker" Star Wars getting cancelled. Just chill out.
These people will prop up Legends as a gotcha to anyone being positive about modern Star Wars without ever actually knowing anything about it.
You can't expect people to continue to have faith in a franchise that keeps missing over and over and and over again.
@@lazlotakahashi4150they’ll do that without realizing half of the legends material is backwater garbage that Lucas refused to acknowledge as canon either.
Like Disney doesn’t always get it perfect, neither did the EU, and neither did George Lucas when it comes down to it (especially in the eyes of so many fans who are so quick to criticize basically anything that isn’t OT), all we can do it be happy when it’s good and support the stuff that IS good so more of it hopefully gets made
I believe in judging separately. While their other shows were disappointing, this one looks good.
@lazlotakahashi4150 yeah the only decent things that came from legends was the battle front games and force unleashed and literally anything to do with the old Republic I didn't really like the vong because it didn't feel star warsy and I haven't read jedi academy but apparently it sucks near the end
Is the surprising positive reception a little of the "Andor effect". Both on the surface were shows that most people didn't think we needed, and so went into with a "I guess I'll check it out" frame of mind.
That gave these shows more space to offer their own things and carve out their own niche without the silly expectations of something like Kenobi.
Enjoying it so far. I am also vibing on the music. The composition elevates each moment giving a sense of adventure.
Thank you for pointing out the music. Yes it’s awesome. I’m so excited for more.
Acting was good, visuals were good, the story is good. I'm excited for the rest. The starting planet was giving me City of Ember vibes.
It might just be me, but when that undersecretary lady said something about a Great Work, my mind immediately jumped to the High Republic and Lina Soh. Could this mean that At Attin has been cut off since the High Republic era?
Critic Paul Tassi over at Forbes is asking the SAME question.
I think both of you are spot on with your theory.
Yes
Disney was shielding this show from reviews so that people didn’t turn into a mob and review bomb the show before it even came out, like they did to The Acolyte… Regardless how you feel about The Acolyte, people shitting on a show they haven’t seen yet is nuts and you can’t blame Disney for wanting to limit the amount of damage that can be done to their show when people have proven so willing to bandwagon.
People can praise things before they have seen it, they are even expected to do that, that's what trailers are for, to lead to a buying decision. I don't see the issue with review bombings, it's just a bandwagon of negative reviews? So what? Just produce a better product - like Skeleton Crew.

But it's dumb to deem a film DOA based solely on a few scenes in a trailer.
For example, some anti-woke grifters said that the teaser for "Godzilla x Kong" proved the film was part of the woke agenda because Godzilla was glowing pink instead of the usual blue. Real Godzilla fans like Dangerville let the grifters have it for being so stupid.
Of course, "Godzilla x Kong" made its debut and was a blockbuster hit. Turns out that even casual moviegoers were cool with Godzilla being pink, especially when the film offered an in-universe explanation.

I was thinking that the first episode was a little dragging, but the second episode had me smiling. Also the mystery set up of the kids’ home planet is interesting. Them being isolated it seems like from the rest of the galaxy. Having the children even questioning stars.

@@madcapmiguel5071it will probably start off slow with the viewership but after word of mouth it should pick up. Andors viewership eventually went up.
I wonder if we’ll find out 10 years from now that for Andor and Skeleton Crew, Lucasfilm told the production teams, like, “follow this basic premise, but these shows aren’t that important so you can have full creative control from there.” And shocker, they actually turned out great without a super-crunchy deadline or meddling & micromanagement…

Amazing how extremely critical star wars RUclipsrs are surprised that Disney would not want to let them w have access to content to prematurely negatively sway the farm base before the show comes out. Especially when they were already giving bad vibes about there being a focus on child characters and questions whether jedi are present.
I'm not a fan of Star Wars. I watch it and think it's alright, but never got hook. I have to say, Rogue One was definitely the best that I truly enjoy. But watching Skeleton Crew brought me here, and I got to say, I want more. The show makes me want to know more about the lore. The child actors are really great.

I enjoyed the first two episodes. I didn't really have high expectations but they certainly were exceeded. I definitely think the Suburban setting of the kids' home planet is going to be thematically appropriate as we learn more about whatever is going on there.
Also, There are Easter eggs which reference the live-action Ewok movies and the Holiday Special, of all things.
My guess is their home planet was an Old Republic colony that somehow was cut off from the rest of the Galaxy, which is why their technology seems very ‘80’s’- they’re probably still using tech that’s generations behind the New Republic. Also explains why they’re so aware of Jedi.
The whole myth about the planet being a ‘treasure world’ will probably be resolved as the ‘treasure’ being the people cut off from the Galaxy. It’ll still be interesting to see exactly why and how the planet was cut off and for how long.

The show has several moments in it that reminds me of other movies and shows. The production team seems to be pulling ideas from many different sources like, The Goonies, E.T., Fallout, Lost in Space, The Magic School Bus, Peter Pan, Guardians of the Galaxy and of course Pirates of the Caribbean. Jude Law's character and story so far seems very Jack Sparrow-esque. I look forward to seeing what comes next.

@ZenMonkeyGod yeah, I should probably say...the boys should be 2 years older. Annie, being 9 in Clone Wars, made his character unbearable for me. Even though I enjoyed projects that others didnt as much (Kenobi & Ahsoka, not to say they were without flaws), i was still wary of this. But yeah, so far it's been awesome. The Goonies/Lost in Space aspect is fun, I think the "Utopia only at first glance" governance of At Attin is a unique spin for SW, and a cool addition of characters brings it together really well. I'm in my middle 50's (as most OG Star Wars fans are) and I LOVED it! It was fresh, fun, OK for kids with plenty of adventure & mystery, for us OG fans! :)
Thanks for the vids Eck team!
They finally made a Star Wars.
This show is the most cinematically beautiful project they have done yet. I would even go as far to say groundbreaking for media in general... The set design and world building are so creative. The framing and editing feel familiar to the genre, while also being modern and progressive. Risks were taken in every sense, just like Star Wars always has, and always should. The story is so incredibly charming...
This show so far is the purest expression of what Star Wars is, and can be. Beautiful visuals; relatable characters that are launched into a story that's thrilling, interesting, and just plain fun... I think about myself as a kid, when I first fell in love with these stories, and here again are all the ingredients that resulted in so much joy throughout my life... I feel like this is gonna be the thing that does that for kids today - this'll be the spark they bring up in another 20 years.
I fully expect this show to take a seriously dark turn towards the end
When the producers were talking about Amblin Entertainment being their touchstone, I was expecting space goonies. Not something I want or enjoy, but I'm not the target market. This is for kids, not adults
I hope its good. I feel like this is a show that is meant to be more casual rather than something to take seriously. Like with the acolyte, you were supposed to take it seriously. Skeleton Crew has a more casual vibe. Just a cool little thing that happens to be in star wars
It's going to get hate simply due to the fact that when you start an episode theres the Disney logo, but it's a phenomenal show thus far
Shill!!!!!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
(I'm joking btw)
Honestly I understand Disney's apprehension. The show has all the things edgelord "fans" hate like children protagonists, a cutesy mascot character in Neel and none of the grimdark nonsense this generation of fans seem to want everything to lean into. I'm sure the fans will find something to outrage about eventually. I for one grew up on Ewoks and this movie is giving me those adventure vibes
Let's face it anythings better than The Acolyte
Skeleton is so far maybe a kid show. For adults its painful to watch. Thats rather for Animations but its again seeing to be trash.
@@illusional1You're so bland
@@illusional1nah bro adults especially adults who grew up in the 80s-90s would love it ur clearly like 20 years old
@@dvaltmeme5046 They sound more like a 14 old who's "too mature" for family oriented entertainment.
@@illusional1Very wrong. I'm a dad and I would say we all enjoyed this pretty equally. For my kids it's like my experience seeing Star Wars for the first time. And for me it evokes feelings of nostalgia for things I watched in the 80s. It's a win win in my book.
As a dad I’m just feeling a lot of the parenting moments.
Also a missed opportunity to do a look at me I’m the captain now shoutout.
Too bright…too cutesy, too overly clean, sterile, plastic ….looks too much like Star Trek Prodigy spun off ( 2 min mark esp) everything is way too cutesy
What I like about this show is how it showcases life in the Galaxy from civilians’ perspective instead of from the POV of Jedi, politicians, soldiers or outlaws.
too bad I dont care to watch these shows anymore
I absolutely love the "let me tell you why this is a flop" before ever seeing it.
I blame Rian Johnson and kathleen Kennedy for splitting the fan base
Nonsense. The Star Wars fanbase has always been toxic, they bullied Ahmed Best to near suicide. If it's gotten worse in the past decade, it's because far-right grifters have begun hijacking the narrative.
The first episode gave me a funny flashback to when I was a child like 18 years ago. They started dueling with invisible lightsabers just like me and my friends then did at the playground. Really funny to see it in a Star Wars show itself.
They must have kept Dave Filoni far away from this story. It actually makes sense
I'm really happy to be engage with a Star Wars story once again. With all previous shows, after each episode i was always trying to convince myself that it wasn't that bad and that the next might be really good... here, i'm genuinely excited for the next one.
I like the idea of an Earth-like planet because it makes the Star Wars Universe relatable
It always annoyed me in Star Wars when we can travel light years and have a galaxy spanning empires but we only ever get planet wide cities or empty planets with one or two small towns.
We got a whole galaxy and that’s the best we can do?
Thanks for pointing out how similar the opening of ep. 1 was to A NEW HOPE.
I love Neel. His voice and facial expressions are so funny and innocent. They did an amazing job casting the kid actors. They’re killing it!
i love neel, he's adorable.
I expected a complete cringe fest, but the first 2 episodes are actually REALLY GOOD! Solid plot, great acting by the kids, good special effects and amazing soundtrack. It's a very competently made adventure series. Let's hope the rest of the season keeps the quality of the premiere!
Last video: reveals he has been cut off from Lucas Films pre-release privileges
This video: YAASSSS STAR KIDS IS A MASTERPIECE, I'M SORRY DISNEY!
Sad! What a total sellout, but to be expected once you started the clickbaity titles
Does it ever get tiring being such a weird loser
@@EckhartsLadder not u being mad at the truth 😂
@@zcwte liking something = shill is only the truth if you have internet brain. I’ve been off the list for a long time and I shit all over the acolyte
They are too gullible to see they are being milked for views by outrage farmers, too blind to see that their dislike of the state of modern SW is being manipulated into believing harmful ideology, they are too deaf to hear any of the facts around the slop they spew.its a waste of time arguing with someone like this, they want to epically own the opponent and nothing else, they can't be civil or act like adults, just childish name-calling@@EckhartsLadder
@@zcwte4/10 missing exclamation points, needs more laughing emojis
I like it a lot already! The world building in just 2 episodes was amazing and these kid actors are fantastic
One supposed good show isnt gonna make up for all the slop disney have made over the years
But it's not 1 good show is it? The first 2 seasons of Mando, Andor, ahsoka apart front he ending of season 1, rebels, Rogue One, Tales, Clone wars season 7.... all Disney
Gotta start somewhere
Well okay party pooper at least it’s a temporary ointment.
Stay miserable
Its a good show by what people are saying about it i haven’t seen it not interested in it tbh and not saying its good nor bad i just dont have a opinion about it but i mean i can agree have to start somewhere least we can agree on that
You were very wrong no less, it's genuinely some of the best looking and most engaging Star Wars we've gotten in a hot minute.
