  • Will newly released surveillance footage and dashcam video of a young man in tears help shed light on the mysterious slaying of a mother and her son? Paul Murdaugh, 22, and his mother Maggie were found shot to death at their family hunting lodge in South Carolina in June. At the time, Paul, the son of a prominent family of area prosecutors, was awaiting trial after being charged with boating under the influence in connection to the tragic death of 19-year-old Mallory Beach.

      Yup, especially when the reporter keeps saying "Prominent Family " like any other family mattered less. A human life should be considered precious regardless of their financial status in the community. Families like theirs always get their up n comings. Is it right that someone took the law into their hands? No, but in reality it's probably the only way that family would've paid for their mistakes.

    This family was very controversial and could have had so many enemies. People shouldn’t rush to conclusions that the boyfriend did it. It’s difficult to pinpoint who could be responsible for their killings. It will be interesting to see what the investigation reveals.

    When you have money to hire the best attorneys, your more likely to get a slap on the wrist. If that kids parents were poor or living in extreme poverty he can count on serious time behind bars. Justice unbalance depending on ones income.😖

    I live in this town. The brindge was to get to Paris island, the place where marine boot camp is, and I remember this story last year. He got away with it at first but we recently learned that him and his mother were killed. Now it national news. Crazy

    @1:16- the pure pain in his voice as he's yelling at him; tells it all. He loved his girl with a passion and someone took that away from him. That's unbelievable pain I can't begin to imagine how that must feel now; everyday of his life.
    Murdaugh is such a disgrace to the family name.. now that name will forever be frown upon by everyone.

    Best guess? A member of Mallory’s family, maybe even the boyfriend, murdered Paul, and may have killed his mother if she was a witness. That kind of murder is rage induced, and I can bet that Mallory’s boyfriend and family knew the only justice she could get was his life being taken just like hers was.

    The boyfriend is also related to the deceased suspect who was driving the boat. They were cousins. Sounds like they’re related on the mother’s side perhaps. May explain why she was also killed. The boyfriend/cousin had a right to be furious, he lost his gf, perhaps who he’d planned to marry. So much was loss in this case, over carelessness. I feel the boyfriends pain.
