Rents- 1 bedroom $2300
Me- Maybe sleep in the car?
NYC- Street sweeping twice a week, No standing, no parking between 8am- 7pm, Overnight sweeping 12am- 3am
I’ve lived here all my life, in a $800 a month 6 room apartment on top floor . I loved it there. We just moved out a few yrs ago coz the landlords were offering up to $100,000 to break the lease. So we used the money to put a down payment to buy a house in a small beach town in NJ. We have a beautiful 3 bedroom two bath house with huge fenced in yard, a private small beach near by and 15 mins away is the Jersey Shore. Shoprite and all stores are within walking distance, and right in front of ShopRite is the bus that goes to NYC if I want to go visit. It’s a 90 min ride without traffic. I love it here and so do my cats. They’re outside all day and only come in to eat and sleep . They finally get to be cats. One of my cats named Slick has a bff already. They hang out together. My other cat just lays on the back deck watching birds and chasing squirrels. But yeah if we didn’t have this chance, we would have stayed in Ridgewood. I had a job that paid me a take home pay of $600 a week. My work was within walking distance and it was just answering phones and making appointments. When I moved out I gave my job to one of my friends. I can definitely understand why Ridgewood is so popular. It’s a great place to live. But good luck finding parking. It’s very bad, IF you don’t know how . I knew how and I always got a spot for my car. But it’s almost impossible to find a spot after 6pm.
The thumbnail is a picture of my old apartment building hahahaha
I live right on the border of Ridgewood.. A small town called Maspeth, which is much less popular than Ridgewood.. But I've always considered Ridgewood a part of my hometown..
maspeth is nice except half of it is industrial and also no trains…
Loved this! Ridgewood in Top 5 Coolest neighborhoods in the world and close to the hip neighborhood of Buswick. Wow, things must have really changed since I moved to FL in 2003. 😉
seeing The Acre on this, RIP, is getting me emotional
Luv every bit of it
Cool cause out of towners have moved in. That's all.
Oh yeah the diversity, the diversity of crimes that go on every day, yeah, so cool.
lol this stunod has such a crappy life that they just brigade local news of other cities
super pollo is one of my favorite
Yeah it’s so cool that all the people that used to live there were forced to move for these yuppies
Oh yeah I always research pork stores prior to purchasing a new home thanks fox
bullshit, don't believe them I living nearby
Lol, lived there long? Lived anywhere else?
@@alphaomega9626 is not safe, and pretending like they are exclusive area. Remind me begining of detroit exodus
Bring some busses there from Texas then take poll again.
Lmfaoooooooo cmon man
None of these places they’re alluding to are landmarks in Ridgewood at all
I hadn’t heard of Rolo’s until Jeremy Allen white was promoting The Bear
Ridgewoods fine and all but top 5 in the world ??? Nah man
I’m not sure which is better, that guys T-shirt or that woman’s sweater walking away at the end LOL. Oh man, people of Ridgewood run away now that they’re calling it “cool” which means rents going up big time very soon!
GENTRIFIERS PLEASE STOP. STOP STOP STOP. YOU HAVE MONEY. MAKE A COOL LAND OUT IN SOMEWHERE THAT IS NOT COOL. WHO MADE THIS COOL IS NOT YOU. WHY ARE YOU EXPLOITING IT AND DRIVING OUT WHAT MADE IT TAHT WAY. PRESERVE AND PROTECT FAMILY PLEASE
News flash,, shut off the TV. Forget the fact they dont care. It has to be said!@Drago Musevini
Lived on Putnam between Myrtle/Wycoff....Ridgewood hasnt been the same since they closed down the Ridgewood 5plex.
Lived on putnam as a child, so much has changed since.
This title looks like it was written by a first grader
Okay but is it affordable? It doesn't matter how "cool" a neighborhood is 🤷♀
Queens is probably the only affordable part of New York City at this point.
Since the hipsters moved in the real estate has skyrocketed so much that unless you have big bucks you cannot afford to buy a house there because it will now cost you twice as much!
Not anymore. When I lived there from 1970-2017 rent was $700 a month for 6 rooms . That’s 4 bedrooms. A HUGE livingroom and large kitchen and beautiful stairway leading to the roof where u can see the NYC skyline. Ppl don’t know that Ridgewood is very close to downtown Manhattan . I was on my roof watching on 9/11 and saw it all. I lived alone and paid $700 rent and had a job that paid me $500 a week take home pay. So I made $2,000 a month and my rent was $700. Utilities were cheap too. I also hustled and did pet sitting on weekends for more money and hosted parties for another $150/night. I didn’t have to hustle as I made enough, but I wanted to save as much as possible while i was still young and could work . One day I realized that I had two bedrooms completely furnished and empty. I say two coz I used one bedroom as a walk in closet. So 4 bedrooms, one was my master bedroom and one a walk in closet and two were on other side of apartment with their own separate entrance. I realized I could rent two of the rooms at $150/week and get an extra $1200 a month in cash that I could just put in the savings. That’s $14,400 a year in free money. I thought about it and decided NAH, I don’t want to live with strangers. Share my kitchen and bathroom . And risk them eating my food, I’m Romanian so I cook amazing delicious foods. And if they smelt it, they’d steal it. And then I’d risk the renters messing up my bathroom . Now IF I could have gotten a single man who works a lot and basically just comes home to sleep and shower and isn’t bumming around all day, then yeah I’d consider it . I also knew I didn’t want any young women. They are the WORST to live with . So if I was gonna do this, it would have had to be a tenant who is either very old and would keep to themselves or a middle aged man who was a workaholic and never home. In the end I decided the extra money wasn’t worth the hassle. So I lived alone in that HUGE apartment. I kept the two separate bedrooms closed. Only went in there to dust once in a while. I guess if I could have found someone nice that was decent, I would have let them move in . But I was always working or sleeping and didn’t have much time for friends. Ppl I grew up with had long moved away. There were a few apartments in my building that were renovated and new renters paid $4,000 rent. I didn’t have the heart to tell them what I paid for same apartment. Lol and they lived further down and didn’t even have roof access like I did. My apartment was in a 8 apartment building. Best part about it was that the train to Manhattan was literally a block away. Bus to uptown was on the corner, all kinds of shopping was within walking distance. And we had the best, I mean THE BEST food here in Ridgewood. Bakeries and butchers and so many great places to eat out. And because it’s NYC, u can alway find stores open 24-7. I tend to sleep late and sometime cook dinner at 1am. So if I need a potato or veggies or anything at middle of night, I can walk a block to buy anything I need . I HIGHLY recommend living in Ridgewood Queens. If I didn’t live here by the beach, I’d want to be back in Queens. I heard my old landlord completely renovated my old apartment and made it 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and raised the rent to $4000. But it’s still a rent stabilized building and that means they can only raise your rent by 2% every 2 yrs or 1% a year. And u get a lease. They can not throw u out. Three bedrooms two bathrooms shared by 3 ppl, it’s affordable. Especially in NYC . And like I said it’s accessible to EVERYTHING. And my old apartment was the only one that had stairs going to the roof. You can throw a party up there, have a bbq. Whoever got my old apt is very happy with it. And I got a house . My 15yr mortgage is $1,800 a month. But we have 10 more yrs til the house is paid off. And our house cost us $200k and is now worth $400k. Housing is crazy. We have been asked by many ppl to sell. But no, we love it here . I say we coz I am now married and hubby owns a business that I work in . I’m his administrator..I work from home and make great money . Still…..I often miss Ridgewood.
@@felixthecat2786I mean the Bronx is too lol.
It's cool in its own way. People are moving in and changing the neighborhood. It looks better than before after they renovate those store fronts
Nowhere in New York is cool to live. It might be cool to look at but even thats a stretch.
yeah thats right. stay out of nyc plz
Meh. Lived there and my wife's family is on the borderline of Bushwick and Ridgewood. Only good thing are stores close by and L train can take 15 min to the city on a good day.
