  • Mark Hamalainen, a seasoned biotech expert and leader of the Longevity Biotech Fellowship, outlines a comprehensive technical roadmap aimed at solving aging entirely. With a background from Caltech, Cambridge, and various biotech startups, Hamalainen is dedicated to advancing technology to achieve indefinite lifespans. He discusses the urgent need for a shift in the current medical paradigm, emphasizing the complexity of aging and the inadequacies of existing public health measures and pharmaceutical approaches.
Hamalainen explores three main strategies: biostasis (reversible cryostasis), replacement (growing and transplanting young body parts), and advanced bioengineering (re-engineering humans to eliminate aging). He highlights the critical need for substantial data collection, improved biomarkers, innovative delivery systems, and comprehensive models of biology and aging. Despite the slow progress and limited funding, Hamalainen remains optimistic, advocating for increased intelligent capital allocation and broader industry collaboration to turn this ambitious vision into reality.

A good overview of where we're at in 2024. Yeah, funding is the most important thing. 900b a year on the military, imagine even 1/4th of that for longevity reserach, it would change our whole culture. If people thought they would be here longer they woulden't burn bridges, they would take up new passions.
