I think the reason is because his own mother wrote a parenting book. Why in the world would you go and read one if the person you're supposed to be closest to wrote a book like that about you? He probably thought most parenting books were more like paperweights or door stoppers 😅

Baby/toddler books have great advice for dealing with 'difficult' people. I used to do it a lot when I worked in customer service. It's freaking amazing how well it works to treat a Karen or boomer like a toddler.
Now I want to buy a parenting book. Only if I do that I’m going to freak out my actual parents; no I’m not pregnant. I just want strategies to deal with you when you’re having a bad day.
@@leandrocastello309honestly any run of mill toddler parenting book. There’s one where the title calls your kid an assh*le, so that’s probably the right choice for Karen training
That advise with offering alternatives does actually work on adults, too. Maybe not as magicaly as here but it was one of the assertive methods my therapist taught me. 😄
It's is actually a great way to resolve conflicts of interest. I sometimes wish people did it more actually, because I easily gets locked into one choice and if i can't fulfill it I crash. When I crash I burn, which isn't useful for anyone, but that's fully my autism making me blind to alternatives
My sister and I fight over the holiday menu every year (among other things) and instead of fighting her this year I just gave her options to choose from and she did. It completely diffused the situation.
I was in the Marines and the number of grown ass men I parented out of a tantrum was wild. “You can gather yourself here and try again when you’re calm, or you can gather yourself back at your office and come back when you’re calm. A friend of mine with a special needs nearly non-verbal kiddo used to say "do you want (option) or no?" And it worked so good I use it with adults too 😂 now it's an automatic sentence for me.
Parenting methods work with adult very often. We are not much different than we were as kids so sometimes that advice or added direction and discipline really helps
@AnnieSadler96 she was pretty good, too. That's why I started watching TBBT certainly not because of Johnny Galecki or Jim Parsons. Or the actress in the unaired pilot if they had stayed with her.
My mum did something similar to me when I was a kid she used the dog WhispeRer technique on me and it actually worked when the teachers asked how did you do that and they didn't know to be Horrified or imprest😂
What she dominance rolled you? Or she popped you in the back? Or just straight up ignored you? Really nothing accredited to that man should ever be used on any animal that isn't a danger to others

Yes, it does. And it works very well, too. Even if they're smart enough to know what you're doing. "Wait are you treating me like a child ?" Yes. If you don't like it, behave like an adult 🤷
There was a sitcom from back in the day where the sister was using a modified American Kennel Society training book to train her boyfriend and it worked. I think it was Smart Guy, they were doing some kind of experiment on her. Guess I know where they got the idea for that episode now 😂
the punchline to the episode was in a petty moment leonard grasses penny up and they lose the ability to control sheldon. in reality that would be a secret to take to the grave.
So, science boy was trying to figure out how Penny did that and the most logical explanation he could come up with is that his girlfriend is an actual witch.
The choixes thing works actually especially with stubborn children or chiodren just overwhelmed. Ive seen it. I work at a school. 5 year old child refusing to come inside a school out of pure stubbornness, give them options. They dont want to go to class but they are going to so the optiojs are "do you wsnt me to walk ypu to class or do you want her to walk you to class?" Or "do you wajt to walk by youeself or walk with someone?" Either option gets them to do what they need to do. Now granted, its not 100% effective. But its another tool in your belt to use.
I think there's a scientific mental thing that Sheldon has where he knows he's an adult but he has a tendency of acting like a child I think Michael Jackson had a similar concept
Sounds like when my children went through the supposedly “terrible 2’s” that most parents complain about. I didn’t have that problem. I gave my children choices (that I approved of) and let them pick what they wanted. They didn’t feel the need to defy me then.
The fact that Leonard then grabs the book like “Son of a bitch, where the hell was this years ago.”

Yeah, sometimes knowing it and other times they both do it without knowing they've become his parents😂😂😂
Loved it when they took him to Disney and fighting over custody of him
Yeah and sheldon is also on another level
" you both are such good parents"
"Thanks we had a roommate"
Sheldon is like the first child for penny and lennard before they had their own child
They had children?

It works wonders with drunk people too.

It's funny that Penny knows that the middle finger means be there in a minute to Sheldon.😊
I'm surprised that Leonard didn't know that at this point.

Sheldon was their test baby for all ages 😂
She clearly wrote this book based on her experience with Sheldon 😂
That's a parenting book, Barnie bought it, didn't write it.
We also have to consider that the only other person who talks to Sheldon like that is his mother, who he listens to nearly without question.
Missy! As a child, not so much, but adult Missy was a lot like Penny. Penny is Sheldon's sister-from-another-mister.

The book is the answer to all their issues with Sheldon!! 😂
They couldve just disowned him. Dealing with sheldon when they litteraly dont have to is pure masochism
The funniest part for me is that she WAS a witch, in the last season of Charmed!
It's called an Easter Egg. 😊
Who accidently killed her evil brainwashed sister no less.
Omg! I forgot all about that!!

This is simply how you deal with people. Lol this is just basic communication😂
I love how a book on raising children is the key to Sheldon 😂😂😂
Sheldon would never bite someone else. Too unsanitary
Best comment!!
He did bite the dentist.
@betholschowka8865 true, but the skin was covered and everything sanitized first
And he bit raj when they kidnap him
They could sell those to everyone who's ever met Sheldon and become rich.
This show was gold 😂❤
When u discover life hacks😂😂
I bet this would work on any adult behaving like a child.
Only if they have someone to parent some people think once you're a certain age you don't have to listen to authority, because you think you are the authority.
Pretty sure it works on most humans. As adult hood is a lie. No enlightenment happens
Sheldon doesn't think that Leonard has authority over him.
Yes, it does. And it works very well, too.
Even if they're smart enough to know what you're doing.
"Wait are you treating me like a child ?" Yes. If you don't like it, behave like an adult 🤷
They being Sheldon's parents/siblings/bff makes so much sense😂😂
The fact that taking care of Sheldon actually taught Leonard and Penny how to be parents for their future kids
I've got a Sheldon like person in my family - What's the real name of that book!! (couldn't find it from name on book spine

Sheldon, lets be honest, has a straightforward way of thinking. Almost like a kids.

Anyone know the name of that book?! 😂
ISTG Sheldon was their practice kid!!!!!
which episode?

I don't remember this scene. Have I actually missed an episode somewhere along the line?
"What did you do..are you a witch" i laugh at that every time just because how he says it.
I honestly use gentle parenting techniques with some of my family members lol. It works

Ive thought this for years!!
Does anyone know the name of the book that Penny is reading ?
Parenting with love and logic uses techniques like these.

It’s not a Failure He got a Compromise out of Sheldon and that’s reasonable and he doesn’t have to deal with a Fighting Sheldon
What season and episode is this?
Sheldon is the definition of “practice child”
Where can I buy that book

This works on fully functional adults too, give em the illusion of choice and they follow every order

Why do i enjoy clips of this show but hate watching full episodes
Love that trick. Ask your kid if they want 3 pieces of broccoli or 5. They think they've really gotten one over on you
I like to believe that he grabs the book to look up the biting children part just to be prepared.
Just so ya'll know, this stuff really works as a parent lol

Reruns are on TBS.
When I married a man with a kid, I figured this out. This or that.

Anyone else screaming at how she bent the book like that? No? Just me?
The funny part is Leonard then starts ignoring the books advice or doing the opposite and it all falls apart

Leonard and Penny have already proven that they will be great parents.
