I have worked at a church for over 10yrs. Unfortunately we have a revolving door of pastors. What I have experienced is a persona of pastoral behavior for Sunday but the other 6 days, not so much. Staff gets bullied, and treated like dirt by these "leaders". I haven't allowed them to destroy my faith in god. I certainly dont belive in them. They do so much damage then leave. It's not difficult to see by their actions they don't practice what they preach. I question if they belive in the scripture at all. What kind of a person preaches love, kindness, and acceptance on the pulpit, but when the people leave....the monster returns. Behind the scenes its ugly. Protected by the good ole boys club. Fake attendance numbers to boost pay seems like fraud. If you want to know if your pastor is cold hearted and cruel...ask the staff. Morality suggests if you spend your weekdays treating people that support you like garbage, then put on a" show" as we call it, you should not have that position. Religion is dying because authenticity is lacking. Integrity doesn't mean much. People see it. The church has gone from 1400 active members to appx. 200. Most cite no faith in leadership and poor quality pastors. Its now an angry toxic church. We are told this is not a calling. We are just workers. You cant possibly belive in christ when oppression is your mission. The big denominations have a crooked government hiding everything from embezzlement to molestation, and continuing to appoint these criminals to other churches to hide the fact that no disciplinary action was ever taken. They destroy peoples faith and strip them of hope. Jesus did not endorse this behavior, yet they belive they have a right to stay in this profession. God is good, religion is not. A relationship between you and the lord should never have an immoral turd in the way preaching politics. It's only theater, not worship. All of these awful leaders are of the boomer generation that I have met. I pray they go away before they destroy everything our congregation has held dear. The true church of God is not in wood and stone, it's within us. No collection plate needed, or false profits. Hell is full of clergy, guaranteed. 😢

Studies show that usually strong, healthy, and growing churches have longer lead pastor tenures. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a challenge finding a pastor. In my experience, the vast majority of pastors, of both large and small churches, have soft, humble hearts and are driven to reach the lost. I’m hopeful the Lord will bring the right person that will be well received and bring you new hope and inspiration to reach the people of your community!
