      @Dave WA ??? China is Nr.1 at almost everything, not because they are so good but because they have a large population to support growth. If the list goes per capita, countries like Germany, Denmark or Austria would place first in almost everything. Go for example GDP: China is first, but if you go GDP per Capita, top 5 countries are all european first world countries.

      That's bcuz of their socialist ideologies. China builds infrastructure without thinking whether it will be profitable to the government. As long as it's advancements, they just do it. Where do they get the money from? Well their economic plan revolves around savings. Most earnings by their citizens are saved in banks and then the gov can just borrow these funds to build stuffs, buy US debt or invest in their silk road plan. US on the other hand is capitalist and their economic plans revolve more around spending. They do care if the gov earns a profit on these big plans which is why china is leading in so many things now.

      Still the biggest polluter on the planet though, by a large margin!
      If taken the CO2 emissions alone, they're double of the USA (which is already ridiculous on its own).
      Not to say all the other air, water and soil pollutants!

    • @chaoswarriorbr
      @chaoswarriorbr 4 года назад

      @Jana Catudan yeah between 3x and 4x, so? They're still the biggest polluters and besides the CO2 they still create a lot of water and soil contamination that has already being minimized or eliminated in the West!
      And things will only get worse in countries like China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. Either we talk about that impending disaster or we don't talk about pollution at all and embrace the distopia!

    • @chaoswarriorbr
      @chaoswarriorbr 4 года назад

      @Jana Catudan NOPE! Talking about total amount of pollution per country, NOT PER CAPITA! Basic reading and comprehension!
      With your interpretation you would fail a College test or worse a task at a job. Seriously, read more carefully and read more!
      Per capita doesn't matter, total pollution is the environmental problem, it doesn't matter if a billion people produces it or 300 million, the impact comes from the total and China is the biggest polluter by a wide margin!

    • @chaoswarriorbr
      @chaoswarriorbr 4 года назад

      My God you can't READ AND COMPREHEND at all YOU COMPLETELY FAILED!
      China produces a little more then 10 TRILLION METRIC TONS OF CO2
      US produces little more then 5 TRILLION METRIC TONS OF CO2
      As I said before the TOTAL EMISSIONS of the countries and not PER CAPITA is the issue!
      Unless China cuts total emissions more intensely then the US (both have to) there isn't ANY chance of slowing anything down!
      I'm an Engineer, I can actually solve problems and not just mindlessly crunch numbers in Excel or a calculator, which by the way even a trained Accountant (my grandfather was one)should know better! Use your head to solve the problem in its context, it isn't just bashing basic algebra and not considering the real impact of the numbers in the big picture!
      How many times I have to repeat: TOTAL EMISSIONS ARE THE PROBLEM!
      The accumulated greenhouse gases, plus the heat producing activities (though the direct impact considering antrogenic activities is less then the gases it produces) with its generated Entropy and the Solar radiation transfering more heat with the extra greenhouse gases creates what is imprecisely called "Climate Change" or "Global Warming".
      The biggest polluters in the total amount are the ones that have to decrease emissions in the total amount, that doesn't mean on the long run the biggest per capita polluters won't have to reconsider their per capita emissions, it only means you CAN'T solve the problem only looking at per capita emissions!
      Now, you want to actually read things through and think about the problem in context or you're going to keep trying to pull some pathetic fallacies like that _argumentum ad verecundiam_ (appeal to authority) which isn't a proper argumentation and clearly backfired!

    • @grischu8277
      @grischu8277 4 года назад +51

      "During the twentieth century, Italy was at the forefront of technological development and the production of energy from renewable sources. In the field of geothermal energy, the first plant dates back to 1904, at Larderello in Tuscany, where in 1913 the first geothermal power plant was also built, and remained the only one in the world until 1958.[5] With regards to hydropower, the first plant in Europe was built in Paderno d'Adda in Lombardy between 1895 and 1898.[6] In the solar energy industry, the first power plant (that could produce steam at 450 °C) was built in Genoa in 1963, and in 1980 the first solar power tower that uses mirrors was built at Adrano in Sicily.[7] As for the production of wind power, the first experimental projects (sponsored by the National Research Council and in collaboration with Enel) were started in the second half of the seventies as part of the restructuring of the entire system of production and supply of energy that followed the 1973 and 1979 energy crisis.[8]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renewable_energy_in_Italy
      I guess that's a good explanation of why.

    • @folkink4349
      @folkink4349 4 года назад +18

      if we consider the period from 1960 to 1980, wind and solar power were, industrially and technologically, far from being used and biomass exploitation had just begun. Taking out the hydroelectrics energy what remains is geothermal. The first experiment to produce electricity from geothermal energy in the world took place in Italy in 1904, to be precise in Larderello , Tuscany, where there were many natural deposits of steam. Taking into account that Italy has very few resources such as gas and coal, and that there were very few nuclear power plants that also had a short life, the Italian state, encouraged by the area's entrepreneurs, decided to maximize geothermal exploitation by building several power plants.

Don't even get me started on China's other environmental disasters. America's reputation in this area certainly isn't perfect, but we are getting better. To put it simply, China doesn't give a fuck. From horrible smog in all of their population centers from coal burning, to killing endangered tigers for the "medicine" found in their bones or villages like Shangba that are so polluted that the water in the river turns orange. Non and only now that the people in their cities are experiencing at astronomical levels of cancer they are turning to renewables. And even then, they use a massive dam that harms the local ecology and causes mudslides downstream. And when you see China's "investments" in renewable energy it's most likely a government lie (as the chinese government is known to) or simply the costs of fixing their second-rate dam projects.
