To the best of my knowledge, no Muslim of stature has criticized FGM. So Islam seems be tacitly supporting more so because this FGM is mostly practiced in Islamic countries in the northern part of Africa such as Somalia, Egypt etc.

Sahil used to cover his face while doing stream and then he was threatened for his life by a Pakistani Maulana online (Mufti Fazal hamdard) then he had to temporarily close his channel and move to a safer location before starting live streaming again. So some of those biases and first hand experience perspectives will be part of my opinions. I agree that ExMuslim Sahil's approach feels aggressive and confrontative. If someone was doing the same against Hindu (which many do) faith.. I too will get riled up.. even though I'm agnostic. So, I can definitely understand how a Muslim would feel listening to the discussion on his channel. And some of the comments are vile and uncivilized. But I wish to share some context based on lived experiences of myself and many people that I know personally. 1. Muslims are only technical a minority in India, but not in practical terms. We have 200+ million Muslims in India. India has 3rd highest Muslim population in the world. It's inaccurate to call them minority in practical terms. They have a lot of street veto. What they lack in direct political representation, they over compensate with street protest power and vote bank politics by almost all political parties. All political parties pander to so-called minority vote. Because majority of Muslims vote as a block. For example, in the last national elections.. surveys suggest 95%+ consolidation of Muslim vote against BJP (the so-called Hindutva party). On the other hand, BJP party got less than 50% of so-called Hindu vote - overall. No one dares to offend Muslims in India beyond a point, for the safety of their life. There are 100s of killings for even minor critique of Islam and dozens of major communal riots since Indian independence. We have suffered 100s of Islamic terror bomb attacks killing innocent people.. targeting busy shopping areas, temples and other non-muslim communities. The last major one is 26/11 Mumbai attacks. This situation is changing only recently after BJP came to power. The critique of faith which is inherent in other Indian faiths has only started in Muslim community in India recently. Thanks to the ExMuslims like Sahil. In my view, Sahil is the biggest Islamic reformer in India and the world - by the sheer volume of Muslims he is able to reach out to. He is putting his life in extreme danger on a day to day basis. What he earns is pennies through YoutTube. He can't have a normal life. He has to live in hiding for his whole life. He can't do a normal job. He will be un-alived in days, if he is not careful. That's how serious is his situation. You can assume that India has so-called Hindu majoritarian govt, and he will get protection. But that does not guarantee safety on streets to non Muslims or Ex Muslims. He is putting his life on line on a daily basis to spread the duplicity, hypocrisy and misogynistic elements of Islam. Just like many people from all other faiths do. We can all criticize him for his language and tone, or that of his supporters', but we should also protect him and support him, the best we could. 2. Also plz note that there are 400 million Muslims in our 2 neighboring countries carved out of India. That's 600 million Muslims. 99% of these Muslims were primarily Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains just a few generations before. A lot of them were converted by non peaceful means. Also, non Muslims were treated as second class citizens in their home country for centuries. Their temples were destroyed, they were taxed heavily and were subjected to many atrocities. Most of these temples are still mosques or Waqf owned lands. Result is two-fold -> 600 million Muslims in Indian subcontinent who have an identity crisis post independence. They deny their Hindu heritage, and clamor for Arabic or middle Eastern heritage. In their mind, they are neither here nor there. This creates an environment for a weird supremacist (we ruled you for 800 years) and victimhood (we are the minority) mentality at the same time. This severely skews their outlook. A majority of Indian Muslims tend to self isolate and form little communities (so called ghettos) to retain their conservative Islamic values and customs. Most of these areas are No Go zones for non Muslims. Normal secular laws dont apply here, unless one of the party reaches out to the government or judiciary. You will be surprised to know that Triple Talaq was legal for Muslims in India until very recently. Even now, they have very unfair and misogynistic inheritance laws. 3. For centuries and even now, many Muslims follow aggressive Dawah - they try to spread Islam by very aggressive means. They directly attack a non Muslim's theology and gods in very vile and personal manner. Christian evangelicals in India follow more subdued and manipulative means. Both believe Hindus are non believers and need to be dealt with - one with contempt, the other with pity. Tell me how this aggressive and manipulative conversion would impact psyche of an average Hindu... Especially when it's happening for centuries and is ongoing even now. Many non-muslims get caught by surprise by the aggression and vileness of the theological attack. Because for an average Hindu, there is no concept of false god. There is no concept of infinitely lopsided reward or punishment for belief or non-belief in a specific god. But when he is attacked by calling his gods as demonic and that they will rot in eternal hell - most of Hindus dont know how to react. They are simply unequipped. They don't have a retort or a solid counter argument. That's where ExMuslim channels come into place. These ExMuslims are the first ever public confession of the anti-Hindu hate, bigotry and hate ingrained in many Indian Muslim communities. These are first hand accounts of how a Muslim kid is brainwashed from his/her childhood to believe in their theological supremacy and othering of non-muslim faiths. These ExMuslim voices are the first major validation to how strong is the Kafir ideology in Indian Muslim communities. They are also the source for counter arguments against Islamic Dawah, Grooming gangs (Love Jihad) and other manipulative methods used to convert non-muslims. That's why you are seeing so much patronage from Hindus for these exmuslim channels in India. For most secular Hindus, who for their lifetime denied or simply unaware of the kafir ideology in Islam, these exmuslims channels are eye openers. 4. Most Hnidus do not know or understand the concept of abrahamic gods and the inherent non-tolerance and exclusivist underpinnings. They simply don't know that a practicing Christian or Muslim can not validate or entertain the existence of an alternative explanation to the reality. So, all those Hindus callout and demonize those Hindus who criticize the predatory and intolerant aspects of Islam and Muslims. Just like the woke lefties in the worlds, they just operate at surface level or at an altruistic level. These are the O.G wokies, even before west knew about wokism. That's why you see so much literature coming out of India from Hindus themselves against ExMuslims and the Hindus who support ExMuslims. 5. Also, most Ex-Muslims in India do not have the linguistic eloquence to put across their point strongly but in a very measured and civil manner. And they are not trying to find out what all muslims are doing to others. She seems to be one of those people who regard being nice - rather than telling the truth or doing the right thing - as the supreme moral duty. Therefore she is pained when people like Apostate Prophet just say what they believe. She seems reluctant to admit that social conflicts within society exist because people have fundamentally different beliefs and that these social conflicts cannot be solved simply by people being nice to each other. For instance, there are Muslims in Britain who wish to impose Islamic blasphemy laws on the native population and most of the native population does not want this. This is not a problem we can resolve by being nice to each other. It is a conflict which one side must win. On the other hand, she is outspoken on some issues so she is prepared to put aside her preoccupation with niceness if she feels strongly about something.

I have also listened a lot to islamic scholars, Dr Naik , Dawah groups and islamic tv channels. Listening to both sides is the best way of learning about the truth of Islaam.

I think when it comes to how we criticise religion, whether we should be mild and respectful or brash and controversial..... I think BOTH approaches are valid and effective. Sometimes, it's necessary to have shock and controversy. I remember when the Monty Python comedy film Life of Brian came out that caused outrage because it poked fun at Judaism and Christianity. Yes, it shocked people, and there was lots of anger, but it was important to a free society that it was made. We must be able to mock religion without fear. There's also a comedy play called The Book of Mormon, which mocks Mormonism relentlessly. It is advertised on busses in the train stations, on TV, and there's no controversy, no outrage.

Have you a copy of 'The Reliance of the Traveller'? This is the official sharia jurisprudence law, You referenced Jordanian law being an anomaly allowing 'honor killing'. According to the referenced manual, honor killing is allowed. You can download a copy, it is in English and Arabic.
Reliance of Traveller is not the Core Islamic book. It was made way back and most of the things are not clear. Also "Honor Killing" is not in Islam and prophet Muhammad strictly prohibited it.

To Lubna, FGM is done un 98% of muslim girls in Indonesia. They don't cut everything off, just a part of clitoris but the intent os the same. It is NOT the local tradition. This practice comes from islam, only Indonesian muslims do that. Btw, it has the largest number of muslims of any country in the world, they are NOT a minority.

I have something to say in defence of Robert Spencer. You said that domestic violence happens everywhere and it’s true. When a guy gets drunk and beats his wife to death, it is a problem with alcohol and antisocial behaviour. The *most important things* in Islam are the daily prayers (you must do them whether you like it or not, want to or not) and dry fasting in Ramadan (again, whether you like it or not, want to or not). Why? Of all the things in the world that should be prioritised for the good of mankind, these things were chosen. Just think about it. Furthermore, modern medical science does NOT recommend dry fasting for most people.

Re: Apostate Prophet and David Wood: I think their target audience are the dawah gang and their followers. So if their language seems harsh, you need to remember that they are responding to people who utter threats against them and their families. They don't respond with counter threats, but yes, very pointed language. So if you innocently discover their content and don't want to subject them to capital punishment or violate their wives, I could understand being taken aback by how harshly they speak. But as someone who follows them, I can assure you they speak VERY respectfully to nominal or non-violent Muslims.

I'm from India. I'm agnostic Hindu. I had traumatic experiences from my Muslims friends and Converted Christian relatives. So some of those biases and first hand experience perspectives will be part of my opinions.
I agree that ExMuslim Sahil's approach feels aggressive and confrontative. If someone was doing the same against Hindu (which many do) faith.. I too will get riled up.. even though I'm agnostic. So, I can definitely understand how a Muslim would feel listening to the discussion on his channel. And some of the comments are vile and uncivilized. But I wish to share some context based on lived experiences of myself and many people that I know personally.
1. Muslims are only technical a minority in India, but not in practical terms. We have 200+ million Muslims in India. India has 3rd highest Muslim population in the world. It's inaccurate to call them minority in practical terms. They have a lot of street veto. What they lack in direct political representation, they over compensate with street protest power and vote bank politics by almost all political parties. All political parties pander to so-called minority vote. Because majority of Muslims vote as a block. For example, in the last national elections.. surveys suggest 95%+ consolidation of Muslim vote against BJP (the so-called Hindutva party). On the other hand, BJP party got less than 50% of so-called Hindu vote - overall. No one dares to offend Muslims in India beyond a point, for the safety of their life. There are 100s of killings for even minor critique of Islam and dozens of major communal riots since Indian independence. We have suffered 100s of Islamic terror bomb attacks killing innocent people.. targeting busy shopping areas, temples and other non-muslim communities. The last major one is 26/11 Mumbai attacks. This situation is changing only recently after BJP came to power. The critique of faith which is inherent in other Indian faiths has only started in Muslim community in India recently. Thanks to the ExMuslims like Sahil. In my view, Sahil is the biggest Islamic reformer in India and the world - by the sheer volume of Muslims he is able to reach out to. He is putting his life in extreme danger on a day to day basis. What he earns is pennies through YoutTube. He can't have a normal life. He has to live in hiding for his whole life. He can't do a normal job. He will be un-alived in days, if he is not careful. That's how serious is his situation. You can assume that India has so-called Hindu majoritarian govt, and he will get protection. But that does not guarantee safety on streets to non Muslims or Ex Muslims. He is putting his life on line on a daily basis to spread the duplicity, hypocrisy and misogynistic elements of Islam. Just like many people from all other faiths do. We can all criticize him for his language and tone, or that of his supporters', but we should also protect him and support him, the best we could.
2. Also plz note that there are 400 million Muslims in our 2 neighboring countries carved out of India. That's 600 million Muslims. 99% of these Muslims were primarily Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains just a few generations before. A lot of them were converted by non peaceful means. Also, non Muslims were treated as second class citizens in their home country for centuries. Their temples were destroyed, they were taxed heavily and were subjected to many atrocities. Most of these temples are still mosques or Waqf owned lands. Result is two-fold -> 600 million Muslims in Indian subcontinent who have an identity crisis post independence. They deny their Hindu heritage, and clamor for Arabic or middle Eastern heritage. In their mind, they are neither here nor there. This creates an environment for a weird supremacist (we ruled you for 800 years) and victimhood (we are the minority) mentality at the same time. This severely skews their outlook. A majority of Indian Muslims tend to self isolate and form little communities (so called ghettos) to retain their conservative Islamic values and customs. Most of these areas are No Go zones for non Muslims. Normal secular laws dont apply here, unless one of the party reaches out to the government or judiciary. You will be surprised to know that Triple Talaq was legal for Muslims in India until very recently. Even now, they have very unfair and misogynistic inheritance laws.
3. For centuries and even now, many Muslims follow aggressive Dawah - they try to spread Islam by very aggressive means. They directly attack a non Muslim's theology and gods in very vile and personal manner. Christian evangelicals in India follow more subdued and manipulative means. Both believe Hindus are non believers and need to be dealt with - one with contempt, the other with pity. Tell me how this aggressive and manipulative conversion would impact psyche of an average Hindu... Especially when it's happening for centuries and is ongoing even now. Many non-muslims get caught by surprise by the aggression and vileness of the theological attack. Because for an average Hindu, there is no concept of false god. There is no concept of infinitely lopsided reward or punishment for belief or non-belief in a specific god. But when he is attacked by calling his gods as demonic and that they will rot in eternal hell - most of Hindus dont know how to react. They are simply unequipped. They don't have a retort or a solid counter argument. That's where ExMuslim channels come into place. These ExMuslims are the first ever public confession of the anti-Hindu hate, bigotry and hate ingrained in many Indian Muslim communities. These are first hand accounts of how a Muslim kid is brainwashed from his/her childhood to believe in their theological supremacy and othering of non-muslim faiths. These ExMuslim voices are the first major validation to how strong is the Kafir ideology in Indian Muslim communities. They are also the source for counter arguments against Islamic Dawah, Grooming gangs (Love Jihad) and other manipulative methods used to convert non-muslims. That's why you are seeing so much patronage from Hindus for these exmuslim channels in India. For most secular Hindus, who for their lifetime denied or simply unaware of the kafir ideology in Islam, these exmuslims channels are eye openers.
4. Most Hnidus do not know or understand the concept of abrahamic gods and the inherent non-tolerance and exclusivist underpinnings. They simply don't know that a practicing Christian or Muslim can not validate or entertain the existence of an alternative explanation to the reality. So, all those Hindus callout and demonize those Hindus who criticize the predatory and intolerant aspects of Islam and Muslims. Just like the woke lefties in the worlds, they just operate at surface level or at an altruistic level. These are the O.G wokies, even before west knew about wokism. That's why you see so much literature coming out of India from Hindus themselves against ExMuslims and the Hindus who support ExMuslims.
5. Also, most Ex-Muslims in India do not have the linguistic eloquence to put across their point strongly but in a very measured and civil manner. This is the general pattern you would see in all kinds of discourse in India, from media to academia. Unlike leftists and activists, most of the conservatives dont have mastery over language or history. So they come across as more crude and aggressive than they truly are in real life.
I have so much more to say. But I'll just stop here. I just wanted to provide some more context into the realities surrounding ExMuslim movement in India.

She seems to be one of those people who regard being nice - rather than telling the truth or doing the right thing - as the supreme moral duty. Therefore she is pained when people like Apostate Prophet just say what they believe. She seems reluctant to admit that social conflicts within society exist because people have fundamentally different beliefs and that these social conflicts cannot be solved simply by people being nice to each other. For instance, there are Muslims in Britain who wish to impose Islamic blasphemy laws on the native population and most of the native population does not want this. This is not a problem we can resolve by being nice to each other. It is a conflict which one side must win.
On the other hand, she is outspoken on some issues so she is prepared to put aside her preoccupation with niceness if she feels strongly about something.

To Lubna, FGM is done un 98% of muslim girls in Indonesia. They don't cut everything off, just a part of clitoris but the intent os the same. It is NOT the local tradition. This practice comes from islam, only Indonesian muslims do that. Btw, it has the largest number of muslims of any country in the world, they are NOT a minority.

I have something to say in defence of Robert Spencer. You said that domestic violence happens everywhere and it’s true. When a guy gets drunk and beats his wife to death, it is a problem with alcohol and antisocial behaviour. If a Muslim guy kills his wife because she wanted to go to work or remove her hijab, that is a problem with Islam. So Robert Spencer making that connection to the underlying problem is 100% right.

Re: Apostate Prophet and David Wood: I think their target audience are the dawah gang and their followers. So if their language seems harsh, you need to remember that they are responding to people who utter threats against them and their families. They don't respond with counter threats, but yes, very pointed language. So if you innocently discover their content and don't want to subject them to capital punishment or violate their wives, I could understand being taken aback by how harshly they speak. But as someone who follows them, I can assure you they speak VERY respectfully to nominal or non-violent Muslims.

The issue for me with AP that made me UNSUB is that he started to hang out with christian nationalists which shows that he is more of anti-islam rather than an anti-religion .. one fights for reason and against superstition and the other is just racist.

In your talks, you never mention that the cause of those behaviour is the book and the cult's history. Have you ever tried to find out the cause, the reason for this. Simple....Every human has drawbacks....negatives. The problem with Islam and Quran is that those negatives are justified and recommended as God's will. That shut's people's brain. One has no escape. I think he could know more about the Bible and Christianity before he critiques it. He reads too many staunch atheists. I love Apostate Aladdin for his own brand of honest analysis. He got carried away on the Middle East and lost his cool. This is forgivable and we forgive him and the other duo also has forgiven him. (Forgiveness is a great thing). He also does not know Christianity and presumes to comment on it. But we love him. David Wood and AP are undisputed kings of the analysis and creativity. And AP is the APple 🍎 of my eye, as a fellow ex-German living in North America. He is very smart and works very hard. Also, even as an atheist, when he talks about Christianity, he understands the connection to Islam and analyzes correctly. Lubna may find it jarring on her sensibilities, but she has a way to go still. It seems to me that even as a Christian I know quite a lot more about the Quran than she does. Like AP with a German grammar school education we have learned to do our homework thoroughly. Someone like Spencer should not be critiqued for listing atrocities nobody else dares to enumerate and high-light. All of you and others not mentioned above are loved and prayed for. Islam is the one that is quite rigid. Muslims can and do reform eventually, but some others don't and double down on being fundamentalist and radical. Seems like the hadiths are the breaking point, since they have all levels of acceptance, from "none" to "yes, all of it alhamdulillah!". Muslims would be better if cherry-picking is respected and accepted. You know, freedom of speech, thought and expression.
