The minimum wage in 1974 was $2 an hour. So even if one made what was a presumably decent wage of $5 an hour then one's yearly wage would've been just about $10,400. So for these people to have $11K in winnings meant that they had more than a year's worth of salary in winnings. That was life changing amounts of money back then. That would've been as much as a 33% down payment on a house.

    • @alexeimscruz2893

no wonder some are considering buying a house when asked what to do with their winnings...
Sue Yannick was ecstatic when she won her 2nd $5,000 match up with Bert Convy, eventually ending up with $13,000 total earnings... funding a college education and a trip to Europe seems logical... IF she has stuck to her plans... but still even when winning just ONE $5,000 brings excitement & enjoyment to the winners...

Why not? If we think it worthwhile to play along at all, we must think our answers have some value or interest, so why shouldn't there be someone else out there who might think them valuable and interesting? @@ifiwereamatchgamepanelist6779 The last half of your first statement does not at all follow from the first half. Playing a game for personal enjoyment does not mean that our answers are of interest to others, or that we must think that to play in the first place. You've fallen victim to "SocialMediaThink", a disorder of younger generations who believe that all aspects of their lives are worthy of attention from the public. *They're not!*
If everyone did what you suggest, the comment pages would be giant, unreadable messes. A few people _may_ like to compare their answers to others', but comment pages don't have the proper format. I wouldn't match it since cleaning a bird means removing the organs from the cavity. It's already been plucked at that stage.

In the episode before this one, he comments to Brett that he's a brunet going gray at the temples; you can see gray hair beside his face. So, no: it's his hair.

Just me but I hated that he let it go gray, he look so much younger with the dark longer hair, I know he was reaching his 60's, althou I seemed to be the only one that thought he look better with longer hair.. But again that is only me I think..
