Corfu International Airport "Ioannis Kapodistrias" (Greek: Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Κέρκυρας "Ιωάννης Καποδίστριας") or Ioannis Kapodistrias (Capodistrias) International Airport (IATA: CFU, ICAO: LGKR) is a government-owned airport on the Greek island of Corfu at Kerkyra, serving both scheduled and charter flights from European cities. Air traffic peaks during the summer season, between April and October.
The Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport, named after Ioannis Kapodistrias, a distinguished Corfiot diplomat and the first governor of Greece,[3] is located around 2 kilometres south of Corfu Town, half a kilometre north of Pontikonisi. The approach and landing, in a northeasterly direction, offer the flying passengers a spectacular aerial view of Pontikonisi and Vlaherna Monastery as well as the hills of Kanoni as the runway used for landing is actually a few hundred metres away from these landmarks.

Lauda Air has operated a 777 into Corfu at least on one occasion, there's a planespotting vid with it
Indeed, i searched for this comment.
Monarch and LTU both came with a330's. I spotted a jet2holidays 757 and I landed there with a Condor a321😅. They're all bigger than a 737.
Landed and taken off twice from there - in a 757 - much bigger than a 737!

0:32 That’s the Old Fortress. Great video as always! Corfu airport is primarily designed for small medium ranged aircraft, for example, the 737 and A320. It is not designed for big widebodies. The biggest plane I have seen at Corfu airport is a TUI 767-300
A330s operate there as well
There is a video on youtube of a 777!!
I went there on a easyjet a320
And planes flew over my villa
Love from Corfu Greece💙

I died when you tried to pronounce the Greek name 😂. Love it when you include Greek airports in the vids🇬🇷. You should definitely go for some plane spotting there. I've been to that little bridge in front of the runway, it's super fun
The 757 lands here to, condor airlines I think. I go there every year, and standing on the bridge infront of the runway is very cool. Such a cool airport
Swiss001 : Tries to butter a Ryanair 737
Ryanair : Am I a joke to you ?
Wow! I used to live there years ago. My house was very close to the airport and i was watching at planes landing and taking off 10 times a day. Amazing feeling. That bridge at the end of the runway was full with people every day waiting for air planes to take off or land and take pictures

I go here every year for vacation and it's beautiful, also for plane spotting. The Flytampa add-on for fsx is also nice

I'm from NZ and most of the places I fly at have no fence and you can literally drive onto the runway
Well if you think this airport is small, try the airport at Samos another beautiful Greek island
I used to live near the bridge area. Summer time was pretty painful due to air traffic.
And also, walking on the bridge when a landing happens is really something else.
I was at this airport and was on that bridge after it, very beautiful view
I am actually from Corfu and it was so funny to see you try landing there.
I live in the US and I went to Corfu a couple of years ago and the plane spotting was amazing
I live in Corfu and I love it when you try and pronounce it
my fathers from corfu and i love it when people try to pronounce it 😭🤣
There is a 767 there now and then, and I saw one there luckily ( TUI G-OBYG ). Plenty of Jet 2/TUI 757s too and your average 737s. The island is so much greener in person too. Corfu is amazing
Swiss: The 737 is the biggest plane to come into this airport.
TUI 757: My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Pretty sure 767 used to fly here
Theres 757s and A330 landing here as well. Fun fact when departing from runway 16 the police has to stop cars on the road directly behind it for back blast danger
As a Corfiot I can assure you that in the ‘70s and the ‘80s we had regularly DC-10s (Laker), Lockheed TriStars (British Airways, LTU), Airbus A300 (Olympic), Airbus A310 (many carriers) and once a visit of an 747-200 (Olympic Airways). During the latest decades we had B777 (LTU and Lauda) and A330 (I don’t remember the carrier) but widebodies are not anymore frequent sight. Most carriers today fly A320 and B737, A321, B757 and smaller planes.
I wisited Corfu 3 years ago. In real life, you can see it also in the video, there is a small chapel on a small island right before the runway start. And it was really satisfying watching the airplanes flying literally above your head.
Swiss001: I have lots of experience
Also swiss001: *forgets intro*
Swiss001:Ryanair is dangerous
Ryanair:Bruh!
Remember that Swiss001 said “Hey guys this is Swiss001” ?
Corfu is my island. Always great plane spotting from these hotels
3:03 nice pool
As a greek, i can say you were close on pronouncing the airports name correctly, and it was funny af.
Omg, i was in corfu last summer and i stood onto this bridge and there were planes above us all the time (especially Ryanair)
ive been on the bridge underneath the aproach and its really a spotting dream. planes litterly are a few meters above you. really a good spotting place for av geeks. another thing is that the planes take off from the bridge side and land there aswell. and they use all of the runway including the stripes.

"Hey guys", I miss it😭😭😭
Miss what
I think he miss this sentence:
"Hey guys, welcome back to another swiss001 video..... "
I already stand on the bridge. Its very cool to see the planes touching your head with the gear. And its not very quiet...
Last time I was this early the max was still flying..
I love Corfu, I go there a lot, the airport is amazing to land at!
Hey Swiss, Ioannis Kapodistrias was a Corfiot of Italian ancestry, the first Governor of Greece after the independence. Before that, he worked for the Russian Diplomatic mission, and before that, he secured the Swiss neutrality and unity of the 19 cantons. There is a statue of him in Lausanne. Happy Landings!!
Oh yes I landed there this summer and that was my only SwissAir hard landing but yeah, landing by night and when you turn your head to the right and you see the lights omg that was serious 👌🏼

I have flown to this airport before, we were in a thomas cooke 737. Beautiful airport, Takeoff and landing both went well.
When I was in Corfu airport when I was a kid I remember a family getting stuck in the elevator. Years later when I returned I saw that it was out of service. Probably been out of service since that incident.
What elevator? Everything is on ground level!
@@Thursdaym2 Am I missing a joke here or are you serious?

I have been to corfu // from Sweden :)
The way you read Ioannis Kapodistrias, made lauhg really hard, as I am from Greece and that name is Greek.
Try the MLO Airport, it’s only serviced by a -8 102 and ATR42, its only 1000m long and bad terrain from both runway directions
Corfu airport is probably the best plane spotting airport, they fly right over you and there are hotels to the left and right, Home island I love it
Great Video
Swiss 001: Makes Videos about Airports with small Runways
St.Maarten: Did you forget about me
Definitely gets large widebodies as well. A300s used to fly in and out of Corfu for decades.
I'm from Corfu. Taken the plane many times. It's far more boring than you would expect in terms of danger. My mother lives close to it, sound from planes is truly noticeable. 0:30 that is called the old fortress. If anyone visits Corfu, you should try climbing to the top. Really spectacular and you can see the whole town and airport from there.
I went there in may to gouvia

Corfu's airport is named after the first Governor of Greece: Ioannis Kapodistrias. Kapodistrias surname origin is from Istria or as is named today Koper, a Slovenian city
Just got back - hard brake landing on the way there- then return was Leeds Bradford in the wind. Roller coaster hard landing - whiplashy fun, would do again.
This is working very well.

The landing wasn't butter tho rip

Living in Corfu Town during summer season, and I can hear the planes landing and taking off over my house, sick.
