Dice & Daydreams my TTRPG project with Lua Stardust and Anna Margaret
Esper Sentinel and Pollywog Prodigy coming down as 4/4’s is also busted
omfg yes
…..my god… we’ve done it boys!
I was thinking about this too. There are tons of smaller creatures that are a lot more threatening as 4/4s. Imagine having to deal with a 4/4 bowmasters
What’s better than a Bowmaster? When mine its a 44!
I don't think so, you'd rather have them earlier and dropping an archon or a sphinx on t3
I couldn't stop thinking about Jin Gitaxis. Turn one that's insane
Skirge familiar + tortured existence is gonna be silly with this.
I came to comments hoping sombdoy brought up skirge familier.
Already testing out pieces and super excited with the plays. Almost pulled a win through a silence and 2 ranger captains on upkeep last night.
Sitting behind your draw engines and then EOT discard to hand size with the leveler and oracle. GGs
Nah. Sit with LED on the field and win on top of the opponents win.
@elikorn8777 Nah. Sit on no cards in hand and Win off the top with a Chains of Memph
First add is gonna be Nezahal, not only is it a crazy draw engine it also has a discard outlet attached to it so that you can keep going. It goes ham in my Raffine reanimator deck
The token dissapears if you use the outlet tho right? Has to be reanimated to work continually
@@tegntre yes the token goes away, but you would use the ability of the nez in your gy not the token, but the result would be 1 nez the real one on the battlefield
@@msolace580 you cant use the ability of nezahal in the graveyard though?
Turn 1. Land + lotus, LED to make a 4/4 Con Sphinx seems fun.
That would be insane plus if you wanted to go crazy could do omniscience
Ye, then gets exiled by turn 0 gemstone caverns + swords to plowshares 😂
I dig it, there really hasn't been a top tier reanimator commander since the days of the mimeoplasm precon, I'd love to see the cedh meta get shaken up by something like this
So stoked for this video! Already ordered myself a copy of Tortured Existence and managed to pull a copy of Bone Miser from one of my AD collector boosters!
Makes me think my friend may finally move off of Scarab God and Oscar…
Trickbind just seems to be getting better and better. 😂
Cursed totem, tidebinder, dress down, azorious guildmade to name a few more stifles...
consign to memory and trickbind i am valueing more than counterspells in the current meta
@@xStarbornhashatons ability is a triggered ability, works through cursed totem
Azorious guild mage doesn't work either
@@ianross9475 big true
I think this is the first deck that can make bazaar of baghdad viable that card is so good here because it breaks top deck tutor piles and puts things in the graveyard through discarding for free, it’s actually kind of nuts
especially with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth removing the side effect
2:49 powerful, sure. Fast? Not really. It's basically LED or bust because otherwise it's really hard to actually pay that 2U AND discard a card.
5:06 Palinchron (and great whale/peregrine drake) would need 4 lands to actually untap if you wanted to use it to loop etbs, 5 lands if you want to do infinite mana stuff. The main problem there is that you need two of these creatures, four lands and a payoff, or five lands in play which is a lot more to ask than you would initially think. Tortured Existence absolutely is a cracked card though.
6:36 It is nice that most of the discard outlets are instant speed so you can just wait for a really good spot on the stack to do this, but it's also six mana and having two totally dead cards in your hand.
6:54 I think the better this deck gets, the less it will rely on the commander, which is kind of the only reason I think it's gonna be pretty good. It turns on Mox Amber/Fierce etc, and that on it's own is pretty good, the concept that it can also enable a protected combo is nice, but I don't think that's it's strongest point.
8:24 I think that's fine if you build your deck around actually accidently getting to those mana values and casting those cards. If you are making this a 26 land turbo LED consult deck, I don't think it's gonna pan out well. Hell, a lot of times you won't have a second land for Mox Diamond.
8:42 Kinnan's thing is kind of making a ton of mana because the commander is a mana outlet, this has a lot more moving parts and isn't really 1:1 comparable, because your deck skeleton is going to look so different (unless you put a lot of mana sources in the deck.)
15:11 Necro is a big reason to play this deck tbh. Turns a card re-draw engine into a combo card. Necrodominance feels a little cute but it's probably fine.
17:05 unless this drips all the way down to the local players discarding to turn and Leveler+Thoracle killing tables, I seriously doubt it will be banned. It just doesn't do anything incredibly oppressive on it's own that Raffine doesn't do already in 99% of power levels. I think it could be tier 1, but I also think that it can't just be played with any decklist.
IMO, you really need a stifle effect in your deck in 2025, and probably wanted it in 2024.
there are rumors that their are some split second lines with this commander
What do you mean there are rumours? We already know the commander, either they are or they don't
@@pocman512 its more if it will be played or not in the decks final state
I haven’t been excited for a commander in so long this does it for me already got several games with him under my belt
Called this esper kinnan when we got our goodies in and saw this.
The fact that it doesn't Exile the discarded creatures is WILD to me
Ian please build this! Cant wait to play this guy seems insane!
@@MoonBounce89 I will be later next week :)
@ hype!
Slotting tishana’s tidebinder into my deck asap lol
Oh yeah well I'm going to discard a card in response, use Hashatons ability bringing out my own 4/4 Tishana's tidebinder targeting your Tishana's tidebinder's ability.
@ if you have 6 mana and tidebinder in addition to whatever creature you want to drop into play then more power to ya
Dream Halls to essentially get 2 big value creatures for 3 mana is amazing
I am beyond excited for this commander. Specifically with leveler thoracle (and a few other potential combos) If you’re using LED or another mana ability to discard them, you can do so under split second. It’s going to be nuts
I cant stop feeling like Oblivion Crown might be worth while at flash speed.
since spoiler I havent even been thinking about my other cedh decks. Hashaton is the esper commander I have been looking for. Vohar is a beast but now vohar is just 99 support with silences to boot. flash uncounterable wins in this format on top of being able to midrange grind when needed. only complaint is that I can't compete with him yet.
I don't think it's gonna be Nadu level broken but I think It's gonna be quite strong, placing a big threat like Valgavoth consistently in like T3 is a great option.
And it can companion with Lurrus!
That might be too much sauce
But then you can’t play the big guys
@@krissiblockboom8391 yes, but you can play Lurrus! So who’s really winning here
What would be the benefit of having them as companion, no shred just genuinely curious
@@GudGuyKy realistically, there’s not a lot of benefit. Playing Lurrus means you get easy recursion on cards like mystic remora, lotus petal, or any creature you discard to make a copy with Hashaton (in this deck specifically it makes Diamond Lion very good). It also makes it very easy for the deck to convert an Ad Nauseam into a win, thanks to all permanents being below 3cmc. The huge downside is you’re going to be missing out on Rhystic Study, Necropotence / Necrodominance, and all the bomb creatures you could drop with Hashaton. Honestly the best reason to play Lurrus is just the nuance.
Probably not cedh but volraths shapeshifter is a nice fit and very versatile in the deck, especially with the free discard effects with frog. That and you get the etb or static of the creature on top
Im having a blast with it. Instant T Oracle overtop of anyone else, and then casting my tutor in response means GG.
I made quite an extensive primer for Hashaton, has alot of the lines to consider, and i will continue to update it daily!
BasedBread on moxfield if you are interested. Great video! This guy is gonna be sooo good
Breadgang
Your primer convinced me to replace Zur with Hashaton as my Esper commander. Excellent primer, especially for such a new commander!
Thanks!, glad you liked it :)@@qoiosgarritano1355
Do we have a time where Ocelot Pride gets kind of interesting in cEDH?
the time is now lol
There's a fun combo with it.
Have Hashaton and LED on the field
4 mana available
Angel's Grace, Leveler and Thassa's Oracle in hand
Cast Angel's Grace, in response crack LED, pay 6, reanimate Leveler and Thoracle, win and your opponents can't interact because split second Angel's Grace is still on the stack
Does that really work?
@dave_8600 yes, because even though Lion's Eye Diamond has "activate only at instant speed" it's still a mana ability, and you can activate mana abilities any time you have priority (and sometimes when you don't) and you do receive priority when there's a split second spell cast. What "activate only at instant speed" clause means is "active only when you have priority"
@ amazing stuff!
I told a friend how cracked the commander is he proceeded to tell me takes too much set up. I never have felt like i judged someone’s intelligence so hard in my life.
Tishana's Tidebinder just got better
Do you think foil as a counter spell works in the deck
Does Tortured Existance go infinite with Priest of Gix & another creature, or am I crazy?
Tortured existence + any peregrine drake creature. It takes 4mana for Infinite bodies at instant speed
Drake can be in hand or in grave just need one other creature card to start the loop
the only thing Esper is bad at is ramping lands, not sure you'll be able to reliably get to 5 lands for it to be worth in CEDH still very strong synergy.
I don't think you try to break Hashaton. I think you just play really good Esper reanimator and then the commander is there to further break those cards.
I say that but I've changed up my list for this an uncountable number of times.
This guy is going to be a nightmare in casual, 3 mana Avacyn and Toxrill will get people banging their heads into the table
Avacyn and Toxrill are casual? Lmao
@@xStarborn yes most all the eldrazi are def casuals...
@@msolace580 with annihilator? Yeah totally casual, im sure your pods' love em
When I saw this I flipped. Amazing commander!
You can run Raffine in the 99 for some pretty insane synergy
I currently run Raffine as my CEDH deck, I'm so excited to include this and potentially switch over.
Yep I'm putting hash in my 99, was already on a Reanimator version. This fits right in.
Looks like Peregrine Drake’s time to shine once again!!!
Someone turn 1d a JinG with LED and we all scooped 😂
Havent finished the video and hoping you talk abt necropotence and dominance. The fact it doesnt check for the card in gy is so sick.
Edit: OBLIVION CROWN IS A FLASH DISCARD OUTLET INSTANT SPEED WIN OMGGGGG
Man's trying to think of a generic esper commander without a real effect and it's just Queza
Seems like a deck that will be cool but will have odd card quality and then people will figure out what it does and just remove it immediately or counter any discard outlet you try to stick and having that be an interaction point will throw games into a blender
Yup 100% no doubt a tier 1 commander - good analysis!
Dream halls is gonna be an mvp in this deck im thinking of doing mono blue shell with black and white for tutors and removal.
Can i as the nonactive player respond to the trigger after the discard? With an endurance for example?
you can, but it won't matter, the ability will still resolve
this makes thoracle so much more annoying to deal with and i like it
Seems like a good cEDH card
Delney, streetwise lookout for double triggers. Would you have to pay 6, or would 3 mana make 2 tokens?
It's an activated ability, delney would unfortunately not trigger on this.
@@connorbeals575definitely a triggered ability
I would assume you get the opportunity to pay 3 mana twice
Does LED actually give you the mana at the right time when Hashaton's trigger happens? Or am i not understanding LED
Yes you do get the mana in time for the ability trigger. Because LED is a mana ability you get the three mana at the same time you discard your hand which means you have it in your pool to pay for the trigger.
Still can’t wait to counter this strategy each game 🤭
I am surprised you didnt mention the split second combo win with split second/led/thoracle with an empty library
@@IceForPvMGaming you do still have to resolve a consult which is as always the actual point of interaction
@ComedIanMTG consult is just one way to start the chain, you can also use leveler through your commander. Yes it's a point of opening up to removal but I still feel it's something worth considering
How many discard outlets in the creature type would you like to see run? I think gitrog might be a good example on how to properly build a discard deck. Oblivion crown could be really good. This deck can also easily break parody on ROL. Might be something to keep an eye on
Roaming throne on zombie is extra fun :)
When you were saying "Turns on your mox opals" I assume you meant "turns on your mox ambers" right?
Key to the city will also be fairly decent with this. Tap, discard. Oops 3 mana make a copy 4/4 copy of something like vilis broker of blood or other busted cards or draw engines is crazy to me.
Harvester of misery seems pretty good in this deck as well.
Frantic Search goes kinda hard too
Yup. You get to untap the lands to pay the trigger cost. Quite good.
consecrated sphinx i choose you
Any thoughts on Insidious Dreams?
Looks good in Raffine
Opinion on lurrus companion? Ability to make cheaper creatures viable body’s while also running instant speed thoracle and cephalid lines. Majority of the discard outlets that survive bow masters are also wizards making instant speed thoracle even more possible.
Aether vial and pyre of heroes seems spicy
Worst part is rest in peace and cage don’t hurt this at all!
I think he is exaggerating the turn 1 combo. Is it possible? Yeah, but to do the Lion's Eye combo you will also need a Chrome Mox and a card in white or black. Probably not that hard. Play a swamp. Play Chrome Mox and discard something with white. Play commander. Play Lion's Eye. Discard the rest of your hand. This would be 3 cards. Use the 3 mana from the Chrome Mox to activate the ability of the commander. What are the chances you have something that will really blow out the game as a 4/4 zombie? An opponent can just Swords to Plowshares your 4/4 . You are now top decking. Do want land or a 2 mana card for turn 2? Opponents should be playing some graveyard hate. The player still has to discard a card and have the extra mana to make this work. I think this will be funny if it pops off, but I think this will always be a mid to late game win. If anything, I would use this commander as a distraction and just play to Esper's strengths in the 99.
or lotus petal. or gemstone. or mox diamond. or dark rit and arcane signet ... etc
@@hv7920 You have to discard cards to use the ability. Lion's Eye is what does this. Not sure what a Dark Ritual will do when all the cards are still in your hand.
By this I means you still end up at best tossing 3 or less cards in to the graveyard and the luck of these being game winning cards is low. Arcane Signet won't work. Petal, Gemstone Caverns, and Mox Diamond will. Still asking for a lot of luck.
@@jeffreycooldude2048 dark ritual to get out arcane signet for white.
What is the name of the song at the end?
Hash+ lurrus sounds fun
I was thinking about "mind over matter" with something which can produce 3 mana.
If game lasts longer than 5 turns 😅
And pretty cool to have a 4/4 ulamog turn 2 ^^
I know it's not cEDH viable, but Mind Over Matter + The One Ring is already so fun in goldfishing
cant you do some stupid inf mana combo with perigine drake stuff aswell? but that might be too casual shenanigans?
oblivion crown and bloodthorn flail are nice includes
Nezahal goes nuts with this card
Hashaton will not be banned for at least 2 years, he's in a brand new sealed product. Can't make the on-the-shelf product illegal.
Consecrated sphinx
Esper sentinel
Pollywog
Thoracle
wouldn't Delney make it two copies?
Kitsa is an unsung hero of this deck. You're in esper so youre already playing floodcaller. You run the banishing knack line and draw your whole deck with the benefit of infinite mana. Discarding a walking ballista and just making a copy of him with infinite mana present is hot
3:09 that's not the way you use led :(
Hold up tho can’t you return the same creature you discarded to your hand with tortured existence cause it doesn’t say choose target creature in your grave it says choose and discard isn’t the choose meant for the discard in your hand?
Esper Razakats? Lol discarding a Grand Abolisher and making a copy should be fun 😂😂😂
Turn one Consecrated Sphinx? Lol
Is this better than tymna?
Crazy with raz, pay 2 life, sack your commander get bomber man, infinite mana, play pay 2 life and sack your commander get w.e you want/need
The Baazaaaaar of baaghadadadadaa
It won’t be cedh viable and think people are being tricked. 3!!! Mana cost to put something out that is already contingent on discard being met is not fast enough. Ps posted before watching the video will add a comment if my thoughts change
Finished the vid, still to much mana and card investment to be viable I think the deck is good at t5/6 if u are playing heavy control or stax but that dilutes card selection. Just don’t see it being able to present a win any faster than a commander combo that already has black and blue
How does a 3 mana 4/4 esper sentinel sound? Or 3 mana 4/4 pollywog?
sick
I'll believe it when I see it. You simply haven't convinced me. I've held the opinion that Esper has had the best shell since before the dockside ban. That Tivit saw most of its success due to its Esper colors and not the built in card/mana/combo potential of the commander. This being a cheap Esper commander does wonders for it. Instantly playable. But looking at the totality of what you're saying, pogging off at the idea that if you get a discard outlet out hoarding broodlord becomes a 3 mana 1 card combo(a 2 card 5 mana combo is not where I wanna be, even if the mana investment can be spread over the course of two turns. And is especially not where I wanna be if one of those two cards is already a one card combo), and 'obviously the combos are there, obviously. Of course I don't have them with me, they're just obvious', has got to be the least convincing string of words a human being could muster up.
Getting the, to be fair, fairly specific hand of 'colored mana accelerant, land w/ slight restrictions, LED, bomb' doesn't give me much hope that the other three cards(at max) would be, on average, that great. Given that, generically, people mulligan for interaction or engines, the strongest thing this commander can do on t1 winds up baiting out a counter with LED and open the door for a turbo deck to do their thing, or gives a midrange free reign to set up their own engine. All while we're left twiddling our thumbs until we top deck something useful.
Having LED and nothing else is far more interesting because of how much more likely it is to occur. If it's in oour hand it should be the first spell we cast in the game. Unless there is a turbo deck seated between us and another player with assumed interaction. And again that is unless we believe we can convince that third deck that we don't actually have anything to follow up LED for at least a turn/our LED is to enable lines of interaction vs the turbo player(and depending on the timing of this conversation it could be used to bait out interaction from the turbo player who's seeking to preemptively shut us out of interaction).
Either way, I think it is much more interesting and relevant to talk about t1 LED(because of the threat of LED combos) than the t1 LED combos themselves.
Playable, looking forward to seeing it in action, don't think it's gonna be tier 0 & banned in months.
I really like the idea of using Aven Interrupter as continuous counter spell and stax that can make it really hard for opponents to play around. I don’t know if it’s worth playing Tivit in this deck but that’s an easy 2 card combo that can also almost pay for itself.
I love heavy play, but dang that segue was rough
@@ChaseH51 intentionally so 😅
Idk if that helps
Unfortunately.... I think it's true Calling is..... that It's just a better Tergrid deck 😬
Its a esper cycling comander it's perfectly fair.
I feel like there has to be something dumb you can do with Vizier of Tumbling Sands. Esper Sojourners does the same thing, but I think jumping from 5 mana to 6 makes it less likely to be viable.
Even Angel of the Ruins might be acceptable as a mostly uncounterable 5 mana exile 2 things and get a white dual land from your deck, since it wouldn't count as casting a spell so it gets under Rhystic, Mystic, Esper Sentinel and Pollywog, and then can exile all but one of those (along with other staples like ONe Ring, Smothering Tithe, Necro et al), and all at instant speed.
Even from a more casual standpoint you have all those cards that cycle for one mana (and the one mana land cyclers from the Middle Earth Set) that this thing is absolutely absurd, and I'm not sure how/why they let it through. If I'm in a more casual creature heavy pod I will absolutely cycle into a token Archfiend of Ifnir and then try to reanimate it.
Split second spell on the stack sac led discard led thasa gg
Im rebuilding raffine into hashaton for sure
i dont think you gotta play that many big creatures tbh. getting out creatures like grand abolisher and thassas oracle is strong enough to warrant playing this guy i'd play like maybe big guys, razaketh, consecrated sphinx, broodlord
also its a deck that can actually use pollywog prodigy
Who called the espur winter, don’t remember if it was you, kal or play to win?
Gyruda Hashbrowns is going to be a tiered deck. Mark it down folks.
This guy is so nutty you'd think he was sponsored by Nutella
Nadu was powerful, yeah, but it's banning was only due to it's long *nondeterministic* turns. Those were horrible lol.
Opus Thief time >:]
My personal opinion bone miser is a great card to play do to discarding cards
