I love your heavy commentary runs, I always learn a lot about speedrunning, and wish more people did this. Also, I really liked this format for your long runs, keep at it!

This video is old but. At 15:50 talking about the noise Nick was making. Its a bug that is triggered by fast traveling when your companion is doing a animation that has a sound attached to it. It can happen to any NPC but is worse with companion's as they stay with you for some time. Happens most often with the armor workbench. It can even have sounds stuck to things near the NPC that was making the noise. The rusted car shell between red rocket and sanctuary in my last play had a gun reload noise stuck on it. You can prevent it from happening to companions by raising and lowering your gun right before fast traveling. Also related is the companion stuck smoking a cigarette bug. Fast traveling when a npc is doing a animation bugs the game out alot apparently. If a companion is stuck smoking a cigarette, take them to pipers house and let them sandbox around. let them finish the smoke, and they get the animation unstuck.
I was here live for this! I'm so hype you made this cause I know the any% route but I wasn't sure of everything you were doing in this run so the explanation really helps but I also really like that you posted the unedited version so I can follow along when I'm learning to play the run myself
As someone who doesn't really have the time to watch full streams or videos but really enjoys the routes and skills used (and loves the Fallout series), these videos are perfect. The insight and clarity of your explanations is also fantastic and really easy to follow - probably the best I've seen on RUclips. Great job!
I loved the video. The humour was perfect and spaced well, the editing was smooth and unobtrusive, and everything in the run was explain incredibly well. I'd love to catch one of your streams sometime... You definitely have a new follower!
I did really enjoy how you presented this run, spliting it down into interesting parts, but conversely I wouldn't mind a longer video as I've been using your comentated speedruns as a sort of background noise to tune out of everything else and focus, so far I've really loved your runs and I love your tone of voice the whole way through. Thank you for making these amazing videos and keep on getting better!
Daved Thompson The way FriendlyBaron does it, he only shows the missions and moving from one mission to another, not including sidequests or anything, and speeding up the gameplay for either speedrun or casual to keep them in roughly the same areas to make it easier to compare.
Really enjoyed this video format. For those of us that watch but dont do speedruns, explanations on the whats and whys of actions taken are essential to enjoying the experience. Grats on a great run.
I wouldn't consider the quick save/load to avoid fall damage in FO3/NV a Glitch, I would consider it an Exploit. In my book a Glitch is breaking the mechanics of the game and an Exploit is using existing mechanics in unintended ways.
i think the format is super interesting! I love to see how all the strategies are explained and brought down to the average level so everyone can have fun and understand, maybe even join the speedrunning themselves! Thanks so much for your content tomatoanus!
I really enjoy long-form content, having someone go into depth on how they do something adds another dimension to the game play i'm watching. They try to do this in things like AGDQ and such but to varying degrees of success, because its on the spot with speedrunners as the commentators they may not be used to public speaking leading to awkward and ultimately boring commentary. While this is the exact opposite, not sure if it was scripted but the articulacy and constant commentary on what you were doing was entertaining and interesting. Very nice video and well earned sub.
@@tomatoanus Ah, alright. That's totally understandable tbh, everything's always about synths with the institute. 😁 But awesome video! I really enjoyed it!
I really like the vid, don’t think you need to worry about your videos being too long because you fill it up with lots of content and it doesn’t feel like an empty video that you’re trying to fill with nonsense. Keep it up, looking forward to more stuff like this in the future

Personally I like this shorter more streamlined format for your videos, but I also wouldn't say no to a 2 hour long speedrun commentary, I find them both entertaining.
15:18 - I've had that exact same audio glitch several times. Usually it's with a companion using a minigun and when they put the minigun away, the sound of it firing continues. I've also had this happen with a wall-mounted turret where the audio continues after you destroy the turret.
I really like this form of video, but I also enjoy the idea of you going over the whole speedrun with commentary. However, that's more because I find you entertaining, and is not as much driven by the amount of infomation gained as it is about personal entertainment.
This highly edited format seems to have a lot more information compressed into a smaller period of time, making it more readily approachable by those that are just beginning to view your channel.
Great video. Explaining all of the wacky things you do in a speedrun is the best part of the endeavor in my estimation. In service to that, you can prepare your explanations perfectly in a commentary format.
absolutely impressive video, thanks for showing the possibilities! I loved fallout 4, played it through twice with ~200h of gameplay each time. so, clearly the direct opposite of what you did. but you showed some kind of deep knowledge about this game and thought out everything. that's a real speedrun! not these other videos I saw, bugging through walls and sh*t like that. you made it very far and thanks a lot for showing "the other way" to play this great game.
This is hilarious, Especially the tenpines bluff joke, amazing. The format is really good, doing heavy commentary over a full run gets quite boring after a while, and like this you can cut through all the boring shit.
