The playoffs are so unlike the regular season it is like playing and war. The team with the talent, grit, endurance and health wins all the time. The Leafs are still missing the grit and for that reason will not go far again. If they can beat Boston than anything can happen but that is a big if.
He's bright, likeable and hugely irritating at the same time. It's one thing to recognize that players stepped up during a stretch of games in the regular season but the playoffs are another country. The playoffs are a war zone. The only defender who plays hard is Giordano. The defence is soft, Kyle. The Leafs need more muscle on the backline and on the wings. Everyone can see it.
Bobvovsky got 10 mill, Nurse got 10 mill and Price got 10 mill. Every GM makes a bad signing or two. Rielly is having an off year. Last year he was worth that and hopefully next year too
Really appreciated the commentary about Matt Murray and Joseph Woll. They're both excellent goalies and they, along with Samsonov and Källgren, give the Leafs great depth in goaltending. Giving Woll an opportunity to come up and play is critical for his development and that's what a GM looks at, the team as a whole and it's development. Keep up the great work Kyle. Your hard work is really appreciated.
Sounds like you should aquire some dman that aren't always hurt and can play playoff hockey and get some players to protect your star players so they aren't playing scared or allowed to get rag dolled and have no consequences
Honestly I can't stand him saying this team deserves these acquisitions instead of saying needs these players and still needs upgrades. Kerfoot Holl Engvall and Sandin need to be upgraded on.

People need to remember that covid hurt the Leafs way more than alot of teams because of the timing. Covid literally hit during our window and after the big contracts got signed. The cap should be much higher and Dubas would've been able to get more depth. Cant really blame Dubas because of a pandemic screwing things up. I think hes done a great job all things considered.

It will be nice to see the odd skill play from Marner/Matthews but at the end of the day, the boys will not advance AGAIN. Even Connor McDavid can’t lift his team into the finals. They can’t stand that a guy that favours skill and possession holds the GM job, and likely don’t like him in part because of their impressions of his progressive social values (which he alludes to in passing when asked certain questions). In other words, they lose sight of his full body of work (i.e., drafting, signings, trades, and so on)
Just hope while you still are Leaf’s GM - this core can win one playoff round. Good to see some internal development of Leaf D men this year and hope you trade forward assets to strengthen the D group. There’s a salary cap that every team has to remain under, and you can sign free agents, draft, acquire players by trade, or claim players off of waivers
