Everything you SHOULD know about Project A-Spec! [Big Gran Turismo 2 Mod] | Q&A Revamped

- Yes, everything you SHOULD know about GT2 Project A-Spec (at least). All of the questions I've been getting such as "will it work on arcade mode?" or "does it work on ps1 hardware?" now included in this video. It's basically the Q & A section from my Project A-Spec Tour video revamped a bit.
I just added some clips of cars in action plus altered a couple of questions.
As for the video I'm talking about, here it is in the description:

Notes:
- I made a few mistake and forgot to mention 32bit_bailey, Tuscan37, TETTE_GROSSE as some of the devs for GT2 A-Spec. My apologies for neglecting to include them before, I honestly didn't know they were part of the dev team.
- I can't decide on what cars get into the game as I didn't make the mod, all I did was present it.
- I'm not allowed to share the mod, so please don't ask me for the iso. Just be patient people, please!
- To note: The footage of SSR11 with the NSX-R LM GT2 is from GT1. You're basically for now still going to have to play GT1 & 3 if you want that SSR11 goodness.
- As you learn in this video, a lot of things such as the number of cars, tracks, cars in garage, opponent number, and number of races are limited due to its ps1 programming. For most of those things; you need to learn how to make GT2 into a native PC game for it to work.
- One thing I neglected to mention in the video is that you can't change the garage limit in GT2 as what causes the limit is tied to the game itself. It's beyond changing unless you were to make GT2 a native PC game.
- Basically, a lot of the things people want changed like the limits to cars in garage, cars & tracks you can add to the game in general, new liveries are all limited by the fact GT2 is at its core a PS1 game.
Songs Used (all by Isamu Ohira):
Gran Turismo 2 OST - Arcade mode Theme/Windroad
Gran Turismo 2 OST - License Test Theme
Gran Turismo 2 OST - Simulation Mode Menu Theme/Drift of Air v2
Gran Turismo 2 OST - The "real" Motorous City/Save Game Theme
Simply simply lovely.
Side note: it would be amazing if we could recreate GT2 to run natively on pc using assets etc from actual gt2, so that we could remove many of the technical limitations, but that would be a huge undertaking. Oh well, one can only dream
I would love to get there one day, Gran Turismo 2 without its PS1 limitations holding it back. Being able to make a completely better version of GT2 with the ability to not only model new cars for it, but also tracks.
@RandomCarGuy17 yeah. New brands, new cars, new tracks, new events. Even drag races. Even every single version of the cars in game + their racing modifications. No more glitchy graphics. The potential would be endless
@@bakayarou023 As we know however, the limitations set with modding GT2 are getting broken slowly overtime. It'll reach its pontential someday as more people get interested in modding this game along with the other GTs.
@@bakayarou023yep. Project A SPEC Mod on GT2 had around 800 cars imo. Plus new GT300 race cars like Mirage EIMEI AUTO GT300 from Mei Yoneme, Wise Cavalier GT300 from Shiki Wakana, and Ogura RX7 GT300 from Wien Margarete.
I'm about 64% through v1.2 of the A-Spec mod, playing exclusively on Duckstation on Android and I've noticed a couple things. First, the game is susceptible to the effects of 60fps hacks, and depending on when you engage and disengage that hack, it becomes a legit cheat capable of easily attaining all golds on all licenses (time is counted at half speed while the game plays at the normal 20-30fps, basically.) That hack will behave differently during races also depending on when 60fps is on/off, and can force the game into slow motion or break opponent cars' AI.
Second, you can load save data from the A-Spec mod and use it across the Arcade Mode disc but you have to be careful. Depending on the car you select if you use your home garage, it could play as either a slightly modified version of itself with little change in characteristics, drive wildly different (sometimes, either super slowly or just stall where it sits) or the game will crash, so savestates are strongly encouraged. Also the unmodified A-Spec v1.2 Sileighty absolutely DOMINATES the Arcade mode, it counts as a class-A vehicle with horsepower comparable to a 700hp+ race car with a 197mph top speed, but with stock driving dynamics.
Third, playing the A-Spec v1.2 Simulation Mode and completing the Arcade Mode during a playthrough to reach 100% completion should be possible without corrupting car data etc, I'm about 2/3 of the way there now and aside from the observations previously mentioned, everything seems to be normal.
For other questions: I'll just add them to the description. BTW, you should read the descriptions of YT videos more often!
What size of the GT2 PROJECT A SPEC MOD when it is available to download on PS3 via PS1 backward compatible? I think around 1.35GB.
really excited for it
Kinda like how its the save/load theme on the technical parts. And then the Arcade theme on the cars part.
Funny enough, that was unintentional. I was just putting various menu music to suit the mood of this video being a Q&A.
2:46 thank god
It would be cool if they add the Bugatti eb110 and its lm version atleast as a racing modification
U mean EB-110 SuperSport
Great Q&A video 🎉
I got your q&a and i remember what you said
I have a note: you know i lost my patient for release of the A-spec GT2 but i'll be waiting for public release of the mod :)
Thanks!
I wonder if they could make prize cars for a single race or series run down a list, as in doing the race/series again will give you the next car on the list until it repeats. It would bypass the need for a bunch of dealerships for other makes at the very least, and would enable them to give event relative prizes. As far as tuning is concerned, it'd be fun to see them add their own singular dealership as a "Tuning house" (Maybe name it after the devs or something, KNABTZ Tuning Haus lmao) which lets you tune all the cars that dont have a represented dealership. It would also open up options down the line to giving base game cars access to even more power.
Either way, its hard to ask for more with how far they are going by adding new cars outright, but it is nice to know that the limits of how much they can add are pretty far out there. Certainly to the point of being unable to expand the garage to fit everything they could possibly add.
That would probably be a cool feature instead of the randomization of prize cars making it take forever to get certain cars. I don't know how possible that is though.
I don't think a separate tuning house is going to be planned for this mod, there's no more available tuning dealerships to be used unless they start just merging car brands together. Which I guess could work that way, I know they thrown around ideas such as merging Porsche & Ruf together. But we'll see what happens, it was a nice idea though.
I really hope they add Rome Night as a playable circuit at least in Italian Championship as a third race or endurance
I do want Rome Night used more, we'll see what happens.
Hi: thanks for all your videos and for infos; I would like to know a clarification: i've a GT2 A-Spec vers. 1.1.1 and some cars that are featured in your videos I haven't seen yet: are they hidden or is my version obsolete?
Hey, about dealership thing... is it possible to edit a duplicate regional dealership like Vauxhall or Acura into something like Lamborghini or Saab? I mean down the road, just moving all Vauxhalls to Opel and Acura to Honda and using the dealership tuning spots for new brands... Or it's not possible?
It is possible to do that, but it's not happening because I think Komputer said they found another solution.
Hopefully when Project A Spec Mod was released to PlayStation One, i can install it on PlayStation 3 since its backwards compatible! Such a shame that they permanently remove rally cars in the Arcade Mode for the A Spec Mod.
If you can get the game to play on PS1, then you could get it to play on PS3. Just take the disc you're using for ps1 on your PS3.
Im pretty late on the game but I HOPE THAT MOBILE VERSION IS MADE OR NOT CANCELLED, it has been a treat playing the GT2 plus on duckstation and I pretty much rely on emulators to play other titles suck gt 3 and 4 both are wonderful games, but yeah a mobile version would be highly appreciated since i want a gt game on the go, and thanks for sharing the discord link.
Is it possible to add the Audi Quattro 1981 rally car? Its one of my favorite cars ever, or even some more racing modifications for some other cars.
Odd question: Does it have to be a specific version it needs to be installed on? Like NTSC-U 1.2 or PAL?
Yes, gt2 ntsc-u 1.2.
there should be regular Mclaren F1 too
Does this mod make any of the event AI or license test harder?? or is the difficulty the same as original
The A.I. has been made faster in some events. Though only in late-stage races from what I noticed.
Hello, can we use this Mod for Gran Turismo 2 Japanese Version too?
One of my questions is: Can they make bigger the capacity of the garage to have all the cars of the game?
No sadly, I don't remember what the modders said, but it's something tied to the game itself that can't be changed.
@@RandomCarGuy17 Thank you for your answer :)
Hi. Does this mod work with all version of GT2?
No, only with NTSC-U/C Version 1.2 (Greatest Hits Version)
I wish adding more racers will be possible, since 6 racers only are not satisfying anymore
We'll have to wait for if or when it becomes possible to rebuilt GT2 as a native PC game for that to happen. A lot of the things people want for GT2 are sadly restricted by it.
What about 32 cars on track? Like in PROJECT CARS 2.
@purwantiallan5089 Once again, not gonna happen unless gt2 becomes a native pc port.
Next up GT3
What do you mean by next up gt3?
@@RandomCarGuy17 They should expand GT3
@@aaronellis5465 Okay. That's not likely to happen anytime soon. This mod isn't even finished yet.
Plus, another modding team is working on a GT3 expansion mod called "GT3 Concept".
Will this mod work with the Pal version as well?
For now, I think it's ntsc-u/c only.
Will this work on mobile emulation? Or is it pc only?
I believe it should work on mobile emulation too.
NiC3
I don't want to c new cars in this game
They are boring
I think new cars can still be exciting, but I don't want them in GT2 either as I have an issue with anachronisms.
not to mention they're all modelling nightmares to the point where something like apollo ie and apollo evo would look hella awkward in gt2
@@RandomCarGuy17Has anyone even modeled anachronistic vehicles into the game? Besides Epic Turismo 2.
@@indigomizumi Yes, sort of. A user named B_Rad88 actually made a mod for the Mk.1 Ford Focus RS in GT2. A car that didn't enter production until long after GT2's release. I think someone is also making an Audi RS4 Avant mod based on the scrapped A4 Avant model, which is technically anachronistic since the B5 RS4 Avant came out in 2000 and GT2 is a 1999 game.
Will the road-going ford escort be added to this game?
I recall hearing that the 1.8 GTI will be coming to A-Spec. Don't know about the Cosworth though.
Mazda familia 323 gtr . Is the cosworth's cousin. 1989~1995
