I made one of these for Valentine's day for my boyfriend. He loved it and it taste so good! I even made one in a campaign glass and the flower was facing upward with a stem. It takes practice but finally made it look beautiful

@@lumiore I just use round metal mixing bowls. You can still remove them from those. Use got water like the lady on this video did for a few seconds then once on the desired surface shake the mold it should come right out
@@Ella-cs1rr if you can you should give them a try! You don't need those fancy petal molds to inject and make the flowers. You can just get the big needle, use some disposable plastic spoons for the petals and a knife for the leaves. You would insert the spoon and once in the gelatin you insert the color in the gap you have created, using the syringe!
I've been on an Inga watching spree and 1. she's officially my favorite person at BuzzFeed and 2. She said she was clumsy in one of the videos, and I didn't believe her. Five videos later.... and yeah... she is clumsy AF😂.

I think what I have learnt from attempt 2 that she didn’t learn is that we should not put too much of the colouring

Tips for doing this (that she didnt do and mildly irked me)
1 carve a little gelatin out in a round shape so putting the needle in us easier and the overflow doesnt show up on the sides of the petals.
2 dont use a white base behind a white flower. It makes the flower hard to see and muddled.
3 you only need ti dip the gelatin into the hot water for a few seconds! This will make a more perfect round and cause less waste.
4 know when to stop adding petals because you can break the gelatin easily and also can cause the flower to be muddled by lack of depth. You want the leaves and opposite base to highlight the flower petals and cause the illusion of depth of color.
You can also try two colors to create more depth and realism to the petals! And you can make more than just flowers.
But personally while these look cool they dont taste like much and you have to REALLY like the texture of gelatin. Also a reason agar wouldn't do as well is because it doesnt set quite the same way. You could try it and see but youd be testing that out yourself and, as far as I know, theres no base recipe to follow which makes converting.... difficult.
Also- extracts are what you'll be using as flavor because they are clear but they also are kinda yucky tasting. Adding too much tends to just give a very fake and artificial flavor. It would make more sense to make flavored colors with fruits ect and a vanilla/ plain base. That may limit the colors you could use but it would also give you a better flavor in the end. Again tho that would be something to experiment with or to search hard to find ideas for.
I'm not upset with Inga, she tried her best and did pretty well. Just thought I'd add some notes for anyone who cared.

It's actually really easy, since the entire "cake" can be done with the same solution. Or you can use a really thin buttercream/royal icing, sealed with gelatin if you want.
