I love this video, but I have a little precaution if mold like this happens to you. DO NOT just scrape off thr layer, because the spores can transfer and you will not see them deeper in. Your best bet (sadly) is to discard the whole thing.

You are right, but the mold didnt have enough time to root, so it wasnt that bad.
Given the amount of time, the mould wouldn't have rooted very deep into the jello itself, and I doubt it would have produced enough spores to cause any harm. Mould spores are everywhere, after all.
You are right. Mold also can be microscopic so it's sometimes not seen if it just started to form

They’re adults, they know about safety hazards. Probably more than any child or teenager watching their videos, which includes me. I think they didn’t eat it.
Well they didn’t eat any of it, and there wasn’t as much mold as there used to be. I think he’ll be fine since it was just his body potentially touching mold and any bacteria left behind.

@@reka6849 there can be parts of the mold within the item/thing that has produced mold. We can't see it, and therefore makes food that had mold on it but got scraped off, dangerous to eat, because some molds can actually kill.

HVAC guy here. Chances are that the reason your jello got moldy so fast was a number of reasons
Reason A) The refrigerator you built with the AC system was not up to commercial quality; you can't just slap a room air conditioner into an enclosed space and expect it to be able to chill food in a sanitary manner. Refrigerators have very specific kinds of cooling systems to help keep food sanitary while it's being chilled, with very specific humidity ranges (Which is why black mold appears in fridges when these things don't work properly). That's not even going into insulation that you need to use, as you can't just caulk a bunch of materials together and expect it to work or be sanitary
Reason B) You exposed the food to the air for too long. The jello sat there for a period of time, exposed to the air long enough for any number of bacteria to get onto the top surface of the jello. When you make stuff like jello, it needs to either be served or put into a container and sealed afterward. What you pretty much made was a giant petri dish.
Reason C) Lack of light. A way to prevent mold and bacteria is light (Light has a sanitizing effect, especially UV or sunlight), but the food itself was stored in a dark, cold and wet place, which mold absolutely loves.
Chances are reason A was the biggest contributor. I'd advise heavily on renting a commercial fridge (You can rent any number of commercial kinds, including walk-ins) next time you do a project like this

A mold isn’t a mushroom it’s a fungus, like a mushroom is a fungus
I think you meant that mold spores penetrate throughout the whole cup of jello thus, making the entirety of the jello toxic/unsafe to consume. Assuming you know which strain of mold is in the jello it would be safe or very dangerous to eat. Without proper lab equipment you cannot identify which strain of mold is the one inhabiting the jello. The bottom line is just...don’t eat it
