- I decide to sneak into a tryout for the professional team MLG. I disguise myself under the alias Clown Fighter and try to see what tryouts look like these days. This whole thing is just an experiment, i'm not actually planning on joining any teams as I am already on a team which I love.

Seeing an actual pro scene for Gorilla tag makes me so happy: it's the perfect successor to the skill-based movement games that you rarely get to see this day and age

"Law 1: Never Outshine The Master" - they didn't want to pick you because you were better than them. They feared you would hurt their ego. They would rather have a worse team, without you, and save their ego, than have a better team, with you, and damage their own ego. Clearly, a trash "pro" team. A legitimate "pro" team would always do whatever it takes to make their team better, including self-sacrifice.
Kinda relevant but I play a military sim fps and I’ve been in multiple clans were some members are way better than the leader. In my last clan my leader could not beat me but all that mattered is that we win.
I agree with the sentiment, but I didn’t “outshine the master” commander was his in game name, he wasn’t the team captain he was just trying out for the team. The actual team captain payed very little attention and had a thick southern accent

ive honestly never seen actual gameplay of this before but it caught my eye and from a completely unbiased standpoint: that commander has what we call an ego.
this game looks 100% off the wall insane. i remember a time when people were saying that there was nothing interesting to do with VR and yet i get my mind blown all the time these days hahaha

I remember playing this game the week it came out and thinking it would be a cool E sport. I was usually the second best person in the lobby and most people would be impressed by knowing how to climb the big tree. So cool to see how the meta has progressed. Nice video!

You didnt get picked because the "Commander" guy got outplayed in his own tryout during the crystals.
You can tell its spite since they put the worse players on your team and the better players on commanders team hoping to squash you. Wouldnt surprise me if commander picked the teams.

There was definitely some favortism played there. They were already gonna pick the "Commander," probably due to sweet-talkings outside the game, and wanted to make a show for the "Try Outs." Fudge that team bro, you did 100 times better than any of them, especially with having to put a handicap on yourself to avoid detection for more than half the "Try Outs." First time hearing of this game, looks great, but fudge that "MLG Team" bro. You're amazing!
You know something's up when the captain is boasting how good one of the ppl trying out is beforehand. Also if this is your first time hearing of it, this is gorilla tag it's funand free and has a pretty big competitive scene

For anyone who's played GT, you'll know how hard it can be for wall running, branching, etc. Apollo absolutely demolished these guys, and I have a little funny feeling they didn't want to ruin their looks as to why they didn't choose him.

Looks like captain was probably just watching the initial tests. From what we see, Commander was average in every test after the first couple. Especially with the actual Team vs Team game, where he was knocked out in just a few seconds since the chase started, where you were able to evade for a VERY long time.
Captain be like: Hmmm should i choose a skilled player OR should i choose my friend.
He didn’t let you join because he knew that you could easily take his spot as commander

i have a friend who is on an "un born" team who was about to beat mlg but on the last match 1 of them miraculously had their headsets die after they lost due to time twice in a row, so they lost due to forfeit rather then getting str8 beaten
