    Hey there! The Lando idea didn’t work out but was curious if resourcing Super Laser Technician would be effective? Out of aspect wouldn’t matter as it’s only Han fodder but…
    The when defeated would trigger and re-resource Super Laser Technician, right?

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  2 месяца назад

      It would not! Resources have no abilities when in resource unless the card specifically says it does (Smuggle cards in previewed from Set 2, for example). When it's defeated, wasn't in play as a unit, so none of its unit abilities will work (including On Defeat).

    What do you think of star wing scout? I’ve been working on a very similar deck with black one and star wing scout

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  2 месяца назад

      I'm not a huge fan of Star Wing Scout, especially because your turns using Han are usually ones where you lose the initiative. SWS is just quite fragile and there are several leaders that can even just take it out on their own. But I think if you were super dedicated to Space aggro, it might have more of a home!

  • @tucklerdesign1551
    @tucklerdesign1551 2 месяца назад

    Hey I am curious, what would you consider to be a good opening hand for this deck, depending on opponent? is dropping a 3 cost on turn one usually recommended?

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  2 месяца назад +2

      Great question - I can't think of many scenarios where I would want to drop a 3 drop on T1, but an early Falcon against the right deck is probably the best bet. The main issue is that you are super vulnerable to the opponent just removing it right away, costing you ultimately 2 cards for just a bit of damage on their base. I often do not activate Han until T4 unless it's to drop a T3 Chewie against very fast/wide aggro decks. Using Han too much/too early will simply put you in topdeck mode, and that's where we want the opponent to be, not us!
      A good opener to me is usually something like: 2-drop, 3-drop, 4-drop, 6-7 drop. Against midrange decks, you'd love to see Spark of Rebellion, Falcon, K-2SO, and Forced Surrender to make it easy to dump their hand, or a more aggressive start like Sabine/A-wing, Red 3, K-2SO, and Mace would push a ton of damage fast as well. The main thing to watch for is the right cards to be able to keep playing to the board for the first three turns, and if possible, have your big T4 play in hand and ready or you'll just be hoping to draw it before then.

    I made a similar deck last week, I'm not sold on Tarkintown. I only got to play two out of three rounds, and having 25 health instead of 30 is literally why I lost.

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  2 месяца назад

      If you have an extremely aggressively slanted metagame, I could see going to a 30 health base, but I typically find Chewie/Mace/Bombing Run and playing well to which side of any game you are (i.e. knowing if you are playing the beatdown or the control player in a given game) handles a lot of aggressive decks well. In my experience, Tarkintown saves me more than 5 health a lot of the time by letting me finish off a unit that was otherwise going to attack me twice or more that game.

  • @Ines458

    Against midrange deck what should You use from sideboard? I thought about change of heart but have no idea what to take from maindeck..

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Месяц назад

      Going up against more midrange decks, your focus is usually on discarding their hand to run them out of steam. That tends to be a pretty solid matchup already, but I don't mind the idea of bringing in Change of Heart or Waylay because those are solid tempo plays that let you close the game if you've been able to play as the aggressor and get some damage in. Red 3 is actually a card you can pull out for those because against Midrange it usually just gets answered right away and doesn't have as much impact on the game, and you'll have plenty of 3 drops to play in most games anyway.

  • @BadSWUArt
    @BadSWUArt Месяц назад

    Just curious, why skip the For a Cause that's such a core part of the Heroism red rare package in other decks? While I grant you're not *totally* optimized for it, it seems like it would still have a lot of value since you're still playing very few non-Heroism cards and it has synergy with Ezra, Han Leader's on-attack ability, and (especially) Forced Surrender

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Месяц назад

      Sure, that's a great question and I'm happy to give my thoughts, but I'm sure there are plenty of other ways to think about it. For me - I don't love it in here because we aren't full aggro - the damage isn't super important to close the game when we are playing so much more top end than the aggro decks that typically run it. To me, of that list of synergies, Ezra is the most potentially impactful combo, but still requires that you find a card worth playing after spending 3 on that turn on For a Cause (or set something up really long term that the opponent can respond to), and that Ezra has attacks he can complete. Ezra tends to leave the board pretty quickly! Getting to choose what you resource with Han is neat, but until we have Smuggle in the game, I don't see it as a major issue as you run enough copies of everything/similar effects that you will very rarely lose anything critical to the game from it.
      And actually I don't see it as super useful with Forced Surrender - you will very rarely be able to do both For a Cause and Forced in the same turn when the discard is useful, and even when you do, you likely won't have the resources to use those cards right away so the impact won't be much different than just waiting to draw those two at end of turn.
      That said, I think it's a reasonable option over surprise strike if you'd rather be able to push the last damage through a late game sentinel hold that surprise strike might not be able to get through. But you lose that ability to punch up with strike, especially with Han rare. I think a lot of people build red highly focused on aggression, even though it has some of the best midrange value cards in the game in K2SO and Forced Surrender, and I just feel like in more of the matchups I'm likely to see, I'm happier with flexible cards for dealing with boards over raw damage output and (what I consider based on the rest of the deck) marginal card quality control. Sideboard perhaps for closing the game against 25 health control decks? That might be a reasonable place for it!

    How are you deploying Han on turn 4? Using his ability puts you up to 5 resources, still one short of deploying and using his unit ability. Am I missing something?

      I've just never felt it was necessary - Han isn't far from having Sneak Attack built in to your leader already, except you don't have to lose the unit at end of turn! But you could certainly try it as well!
