Criminally underrated song
Oh yeah,. Definitely.
The album version is terrible (mixing etc) it sounds completely different live
Yes, way harder driving, live. Totally agree. Tremendously underrated and under played song.
Who cares.People are stupid. This is the best song and performance of all time period!Nothing comes close.
Not the song - the video for good reason
One thing is for sure. When you saw Tull, you saw a SHOW. And went home fulfilled. Thanks Ian.
He wasn’t a singer or musician…..he’s a storyteller…as a kid he blew my mind…..+40yrs later I’m still listening to his stories in awe
The Jethro Tull sweet dreams vdeo of the theater vampire h' orror show was the very first Mtv video I ever saw ..82 ? 10 year old kid.....51 now...... rocker ever since.
This is what’s missing today. Genuine talent. No matter who Ian chose to work with, they were always top notch musicians. This song deserves so much more attention. One of Tull’s best.
It upsets me that only 22 thousand people have watched this, this it Jethro Tull in there prime and it's amazing.
I agree 💯 this is so satisfying. The power. The immersion. The Epic showmanship. Doesn't get.any better than Classic Ultimate Tull!
..And look at Ian's jacket!
You know what they say, there's no accounting for taste, especially these days....
The last great musical sideshow. And maybe a greater art expressing itself via music.
An unbelievable performance !!!!
The sounds engineer (s) deserves credit too, for exactly the right amount of echo.
Always one of my favorite Tull songs.
Jethro's are all so damn brilliant that cant find words to express...Ian is a worldwide treasure, million thanks to him. God bless him and you too!
Best guitar solo ... Ever !!
Memorized at the Van Dyke Devonport. The best live act club at the time with all the rising and existing great bands.
On the strength of that first performance, saw them four or five times, went to the record shop and bought 'This Was'. Have it now, with others on CD, stick in car and home. I still find them exciting and refreshing even in my antiquity.
Jethro Tull never get old
My favorite Tull song.
This is the best version of Sweet Dream I've heard
Studio version has always been far superior to any live one. Ian's12 String and Palmer's strings stand out.
@@martinhayward4466 I ljust love this particular version
@@hammerqos And great that you do. It is certainly not bad, it is still Tull. Saw them in 74 & 77, and again the more recent line up in 93, and they were still pretty good.
@@martinhayward4466 You know your stuff my friend. Who is the guitarist with stripe top on ?
@@martinhayward4466 I love the Anderson wild, homeless man look with the dynamic performance.
God Bless, you and your family, you bring me such happiness with your beautiful music💕🥰😍👍
favorite front man since 1970 (50 years!)
Martin Barre’s solo. Wow!!
Андерссон не просто гениален, он как бы из другого мира, его песни- это вся непостижимая Вселенная!
.
My first Tull tour was 1982 . Saw them later that year at Theakston Music Festival great gigs both.
Same here, 1982 Broadsword tour
Loved this group. A great live band
Fantastic Mad Genius !!!!!!!❤
3:16 - you can tell by the wear on Ian's flute from contact with the mic/stand just how much they toured back in the day. That is a LOT of playing.
Jethro Tull and Genesis are my whole life.
Jethro Tull means a very Sweet dream! Wonderful!
such an eerie tune. love it
Heard this the first time in the 9th grade along with Baracuda. I can't tell you how this was so incredible in the 70s
Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
second that!!!
Bravissimi straordinari eccezionali jethro tull guidati dal grandissimo bravissimo eccezionale straordinario ian anderson autore di quasi tutte le splendide bellissime stupende canzoni di questa fantastica band visti a Roma molti anni fa concerto indimenticabile
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was the best band in history
2:43 That solo is brutal
Love this song
Extremely hard song to reproduce live. Compare this to later versions. It’s hard for Ian to match now. First fell in love with this song when I bought that big double album with all the pictures.....lots of stuff! Got me HOOKED! Living in the Past. Wonderful textured album...like a book! Still have it. Even bought....a spare. Is that odd!
Not at all, I did the same.
Martin Barre on guitar wonderful!😃😊
A Great Song!
Ex through fluuuuling ordinary!!! Nobody can play like them ever again.......
Saw them 1969 Sheffield City Hall.
Perhaps among the 2nd best live Sweet Dream performace. The best was from a few years earlier with Ian dressed as a minstrel with bug eyes on a German radio video. But nobody has managed to upload it from its VHS or Beta source tapes. Saw it around 1996 at the home of D.L. "Warchild" of Living in the Past Fanzine fame. None of my Tull fan contacts in Germany seem to recall it. Anyone have and can upload? Many thanks.
Why are your fans so stingy with the thumbs up...? We all love Jethro...what seems to be the problem, officer?
No problem!! Worth thousands of thumbs up!!!! We who know, know!!!
Live brings out this song's power- is that a vintage watch Ian is wearing? Class...
Dedicated to those who thought Tull couldn't dabble in metal.
Sweet dream. Good.
Stand Up one of the best albums ever!
live the rest of your life in a day...... killer.
Essa banda é de gênios.
True Blackpool Rock.

Where is Cross-Eyed Mary LIve Video on this channel
👍 👍 👍 💜
My regret when i,,'ll die, wont can hear and see the Tull any more.
What a monster performance!! Was this ever released as an official live track?
etam to więcej niż piękkna muza
Cause they lost what they thought they were keeping...
And some people say Jethro Tull are not a hard rock band...
Didn't realise until recently, his son in law is Andrew Lincoln aka Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead.
anyone else hear that 90s/early 2000s spider man theme in that guitar?
Peter "Crazy" Vetesse on keyboards.
Is that lipsynced?
No. It's been remastered and cleaned up. They might have added in the synth later
no odserca
when he plays the flute he blows into the mouthpiece holding it very close to the microphone , as if singing , but the sound is coming out the other end of the flute .. non ?
No, the flute sound comes from the air blowing across the mouthpiece at the top. The length of the tube gives the tuning, but you're not breathing into it.
Over done. I dont like this live version.
Love this song
