There is more than enough older classics to keep me busy throughout my lifetime and the same thing goes for movies as well. It's the late 80s early 90s all over again. Cheaper materials, lack of quality control, and advertising lies all wrapped in a more expensive package. It's bullshit and people deserve to be upset and fed up. Honestly that is why I hardly buy games at all now. I have gamepass ultimate and a MASSIVE backlog of games. I don't buy a damn thing day one anymore since Battlefield 5 launched. They burned everyone by releasing the game to preorders and didn't say the coop multiplayer wasn't launching for another 3 months until right at launch. Now I buy all of these games on sale with deep discounts. I want to play Jedi Survivor so bad, but the issues that game had tell me it is a $25 or less game. That's when I will buy it. Fomo has no place in my wallet after all the times publishers have burned us.

Games are actually complete, run off the disc, great single player adventure games, and the online still works on PS3. Even better, the games are $5-$10 on average. The graphics still hold up very well today and you don’t feel like you’re playing an older retro console.

    1) Games need to stop focusing on insane graphics and be more about innovation. It should help games keep higher frame rates too. Art direction is why older games still look really good today.
    2) The reason why there is less competition is because of game price/creation inflation. More people were in the race because it was affordable and you could take some L’s. That’s just not the case anymore. Which is Xbox and PlayStation are branching out from their consoles so they can make more revenue

The biggest problem with the gaming industry are the investors and their unreasonable expectations. FF7 Remake vs Rebirth is a prime example. Rebirth is a better game, but is considered a “failure” because it was released on PS5 (with less than half the install size of the PS4) and because it had no pandemic to push it, it didn’t sell as well. Also the fatigue of over saturation in FF and other RPGs and blockbuster games was to blame. We just got FF16 last year and I still haven’t had a chance to play that one yet (couldn’t put down Tears of the Kingdom at the time).

    • @DracosKasurani

Investor are the problem that is true. The fact that a game like Baldur's Gate 3 exist make them piss because Larian doesn't try to milk you dry and have more to offer than their game.

Yea RGT missed alot of good obvious points. Instead he wanted to focus on rumors about nintendo and a dry few months for Sony because they didn't release a blockbuster one month... Yet we just got ff7 rebirth and stellar blade and a huge bundle of games last year.. He falls victim in consumer society once again the bitches about nothing. Rgt isn't someone I take seriously when it comes to news, or any advice with current day issues. Just because he's milk toast and Luke warm on issuesand is unaware of the bigger problem nobody in his niche circle ever mentions.

I honestly don't mind the fluff of mini games in the world because it makes the current cities more alive, I guess there are other ways they can do it as well. But most of it is optional... But i can't stand how the look at rebirth likes it's a failure. Honestly I think it deserves to be in GOTY category this year

2 million sales in 6 weeks isn't bad, considering it's still selling for $70. Rebirth will continue to sell, same as all new releases, as more people buy a Playstation. Sony knows this. It hasn't been 4 years yet, everyone forgets how it always is in the first half lifespan.

I thought video games would grow with me as I aged, they did and I thought my love and enjoyment for them would grow, but that's no longer the case having been a gamer since the Atari and NES. The heart and soul that gaming used to have, with the exception being
Baldurs Gate 3 isn't there anymore. Can't support sports games anymore and now Fighting Games is the next genre I'm done with after Tekken 8. Definitely the last console generation I'll be part of because I'm not buying your consoles if I'm renting and not owning the few good games you sell me.

Battle pass and season passes were a mistake
      Star Wars: new game here
I don't want to remember its title because Ubi really hurt its audience once more. Now double with the price tag and content made exclusive as dlc
Even fighting games feel less special. Because every major title has a battle or season pass attached for content and characters
It is nutty enough just to have the game, but you barely have access to it unless you buy stuff
Shareholders need to butt out, let creativity take over.
I understand budgets are ballooning, and not in a good way. But there was a time to allow more experimental titles.
Sadly all of those titles are rarely made anymore, unless it is super successful
And consoles life span. Something needs to change to let a system show off what it can do. MS and Sony are in such a rush, we have not seen Series X or 5 shine more. Always held back by some stupid limitations

This is probably just a me thing, but I feel that games today have become too complicated. What got me into games as a kid personally was the story, characters, environment, sounds. And the best part, I could take my time and take it in. It was like how how books allowed you feel for the story by words, movies allowed you to witness a story and games allowed you to be in the story. Now when I play games, there is this nagging sensation of ' GOTTA GO FAST. GOTTA GET IT DONE NOW.' few games where I feel like I want to take my time and just take in the work the studios poured their time and soul into. No doubt why I have a heart for Red Dead Redemption 2, it gives you that option to take your time and invites you to linger within the environment and rewards you in a very beautiful way. Its not shoving you to the next section of the game.
The second part of what I feel is an issue, even with games I like personally, is that the controls are getting a little complicated. To a point where it'll break immersion and pull me out of the experience. I do not mind a game with simple controls. Sometimes less is more and encourages creativity for problem solving when you have few game rules or interactions. Why I feel a few indie games were successful like Undertale, Little Nightmares, Stanley Parable, Inside etc. had pulled off so well. Like if game studios wanna make quick battle royals because that's what they love and want to connect people, great! but if it is only for the sake of a sale or because they are too nervous to branch out , then I encourage them to consider alternative options. Downsizing doesn't equal bad and would actually allow studios to present a full product worth the price that folks can enjoy.

Games aren't being made for consumers anymore. Instead, it's about a message about society and how there isn't enough representation in games. How about companies stop the political messages and focus on what consumers want. All I want is a good video game. I don't care if it's a reboot, remake, or sequel just do it right.

Same with PS2 and xbox360. I’m able to save $$$ because I buy used consoles and only get the great games after all the hype. I didn’t have a Switch until last year as a “modern” console. I think this malaise has been bubbling in the background since the start of the 8th gen. I noticed that while first party PS4 games certainly looked better, I didn't enjoy them as much as PS3 games. Even then people were complaining about games getting dumbed down for normies. This was also the time scummy mobile business practices began to be incorporated into traditional gaming. GG 1.0 and ESG also dropped, which led to the industry over-correcting and hiring on a ton of these vapid activists. Skip ahead to today, and there's really nothing coming down the pipe that I'm excited about. I'm not spending $650 Canuck Kopeks for a PS5 just to play Stellar Blade. I don't play online, so none of these live services appeal to me. Most games now are too expensive, lazy, money grubbing, and broken. Investors keep trying to squeeze more blood from a saturated industry. The politics stuff is getting worse. Even Nintendo have been absolute butt nuggets lately with their crap customer service, broken controllers, online service shutdowns, and the war on emulation. It's all very exhausting. I've gone back to playing older stuff, and even there, almost entirely Japanese games. Definitely the worst it's been in my 30 years of gaming.

All things I already said on Spawnwave and was laughted at. And here we are. The problem is not 8k power. The problem is the systems are too powerful and not enough developers. Xbox laying off developers and putting all their eggs in one basket till they fail and then another until they fail, and still doing it, not good management. Stick to something until it becomes a success, do multiple things Xbox. CDprojectred walking away from hot releases to gamble on some smaller projects. Cyberpunk could of been big, but oh no everyone wants Witcher 1. We'll see. I'm looking at you Bouldersgate. Bethesda doing the same stuff, thinking they're too big to fail. Or like Activision, more focused on making money as a service than even being fun anymore. Or Xbox just giving up on Halo like that. Or Playstation being more toxic than ever before. Switch2 should of came out last year. Might as well make something completely different now. Make a new NES for the TV 8k, and let the Switch 2 be Gameboy. Focus on this generation longer. You know what everyone talked about when this generation started? They talked about the next generation. If a generation is only gonna be a couple years, you might have dev issues. Hopefully AI can help. And hopefully people who have passion can get back to it and we all can be a little deeper and not so shallow about it. Who knows. Just some of my thoughts

I’m not gonna buy unfinished games with huge day 1 patches or digital games that I don’t actually own. Nowadays, I care less and less about what’s to come and more excited about getting into older games that I haven’t gotten around to or have wanted to buy.

All games have been crap since PS3 with one exception. At least Intellivision Amico is going in the right direction. Tommy was right they are the best chance at saving gaming.

The only people commenting on "game stagnation" are content creators. Y'all are essentially starved for stuff to talk about right now. I get it, but that's not indicative of the state of games. Just the fact y'all live in a bubble where the average gamer is constantly in anticipation for the next title. Meanwhile. 80% of switch owners are still playing and enjoying Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Tears of the Kingdom, half of Playstation and Xbox users are mostly playing NBA2K, COD, and Fortnite, and everybody else is still working through backlog of games.
I also don't agree with you on Xbox needing an "identity". It's microsoft's dedicated gaming platform. period. that's it. If you want a simple, gaming experience, that doesn't involve an investment in a high PC, and you want the flexibility of being able to ALSO enjoy the games you play, if you're away from your xbox, you can do that. Phil has been consistent about that goal for years now. It's just, Gamers who've been around for the last 30 years, can't wrap their head around a brand, that isn't centered around exclusives, one piece of hardware that everyone is marketed to play. Phil said, literally, "We want to meet gamers where they are"...well, Gamers are on Console, PC, and Mobile....and guess where Xbox services and games can be consumed? Console, PC and Mobile

Took you awhile to get to your point, but yes, a ban on remakes needs to happen. Stop selling your games and systems people. You keep them all.
And stop buying digital, ohterwise you will have to buy remakes because the companies will simply lock you out of your games eventually and force you to spend another $60 on the same game again.

You know if they stopped caring about ray tracing and stuff and just focused on fun games that were cheaper to produce, i'd be fine with it. Put back the instruction manual. These high budget games are boring. I don't even wanna buy em and prefer playing sega saturn and ps1 stuff.

I have loads of games I haven't played yet

Honestly with the current landscape of gaming, I’m losing interest. I just feel like this would be a great opportunity to play retro titles and even play some I’ve missed back then because the current landscape isn’t that good. I can’t find one solid game this gen that has kept my interest for a few hours at a time.

There are too many games for the market to support.
Also, game design fundamentals in modern games are the opposite of what I want from a game. I go and play older games or retro games I haven’t played before and enjoy myself quite a bit.

Gaming stinks. Nintendos next console will be 7+ years out or date when it finally releases.

This console generation is the last gaming generation I am buying into except for the next Nintendo system. I have enough of a back log to keep me busy for years.
