2000 BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP- Michigan State vs Illinois

Michigan State tops Illinois 76-61 to win the conference tournament for the second straight season, en route to the national championship. Morris Peterson was named the most valuable player for the weekend tournament.
On the season, Michigan State overcame Mateen Cleaves' foot injury to start the season and rolled to their third straight regular-season Big Ten championship. With Cleaves in command, the Spartans can pound teams inside with Peterson and Andre Hutson or cut them up from the perimeter with Peterson and A.J. Granger.
