- In this episode I make an attempt to polish my alloy fuel tank, the tank was in a poor condition with pitting and has never been polished.
I only spent an hour working on the tank and was quite impressed with the results and I've now got a great base to continue polishing the tank to a high standard.

Pink stuff is what you need.
Autosol is great for knife sharpening
Peek is great, we use on beer taps etc as you need to polish once a week. The rest of time just a good run up does. Also it's stop water marks

It all depends what grade of alloy the tank is made of as aircraft grade does not polish up to a mirror like shine but is still shiny if you know what I mean.i have used white diamond alloy polish which I found to be good on wheels available on ebay..
Surely there's an easier way kev? That looks like a right pain in the hole, could u use 1 of those rotary polishing machines u see people polishing cars with?

kev I used the soft scour pad with that poilsh to get the brass on our narrowboat started if really it was bad then the power tools came out, now we have treated the metal with lacquer so no more polishing😃
As mentioned by other people a rotary polisher will help a bit more, you can get some that will fit on the air tank valves on the truck

Kev you can grab a cheap machine polisher from Argos for about £20-£30 I think. Might be worth getting one of them, and giving it a whirl (pun intended)!

Kev get the boss to buy you a new tank. It will be easier 😂😂 if he doesn’t, get LukeC to do it for you. Brothers in arms & all that...
+1 for a grinder or something similar with a polishing wheel. Saves you from being scrunched over the tank scrubbing away....
Kev you should watch Russell Worthing video mtd56 I think. Last part of his video he polishes his tanks and wheels. His known for his tidy truck

try using wire wool to apply your polish you should get a much better result with the pitting
We use soaking wet brillo pads to cut all the crap out and draw all the dirt out .. I done my wheels with polish then a brillo pad then a polish and its 100% easier so get some brillos and some soapy water and see how you go
Need to get on it with some buffing wheels

spend 30-40 pound in screwfix and get a cheap rotary buffer will come up awesome and alot quicker too

remove pitting try 0000 steel wool also what's the music on your into?
Now you need to do the wheels.

Scrunch up some tinfoil and rub it over. It will fill the pit marks and make it look awesome

get some zephyr pro metal polish would tackle that tank no problem at all

Polish in straight lines
Kev use some 2000 grip wet and dry with water and a rubber block will be as smooth as a babys bum then polish will be mint
With that much pitting I would have started with 800 and work up to 2000. Then use an electric buffer or buffer wheel on a drill with the polishing paste.

Get an electric mop mate saves loads time
Why don't you use a machine polisher
No electricity supply, going to try a battery drill to make things easier 👍

You need at least to sand the tanks. Your just buffing dirt
Life's far to short to be wasting any of it polishing the diesel tank of a Volvo tractor unit.
