- Enjoy this tour of the Capital Prize gold mine located in Georgetown, Colorado. This recently opened mine takes you a incredible 1,000 feet into the mountain. Despite over 10,000 mines in the State of Colorado, very few offer tours. This was one of the better tours I have been on with many branching tunnels, and a drill demonstration. Thanks to the tour operator for allowing me to film this video. Filmed in August, 2018. More information can be found on the website below.

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: best mine tour I've witnessed...and I've been on a few in person over the years...but they were like "Forensic tours" not mines still working. Thanks to all of you involved in the making of this video. I'm really sick with Covid right now but a few moments
Excellent video and tour.
Thank you.
Great tour, and Paul did a great job! Deff bringing kids here!
Excellent. Got a thousand more questions.... I drive by the area every week on my way to Leadville. One of these times I’ll have to stop
Yes it is a great way to spend a afternoon and one of the best mine tours in Colorado.
Very Cool Mine! Thanks for sharing
You are welcome.
Boy that looks more fun than the mine ride at Knott’s Berry Farm 😬👍 Has this mine produced any crystallized specimen gold would you know?
Recently did this mine tour, 7/9/2020 and it was fun and educational.
Did they have the mine train running? I know they were working on it last time I was there.
@@travelingtom923 Yes, the train was fully operational.
@@ricksalter2478 That is good I will have to go back for a ride.
I really enjoyed your video. I'm hoping to get to Colorado soon and I will have to include some time in Georgetown. I think Georgetown is beautiful but this mine makes it all the more interesting.
Great tour! Thank you for sharing
You are welcome.
Just saw this even though it's 4 yrs old. My Dad worked at the Capitol Prize for a while in the 60s. Don't know if any more development mining was done after that.
Very informative
nice video
Thank you.
Also, the saying "pay dirt".
Wow 22 OZ per ton of mineral? LOADED IN GOLD!!!!!
That was 2 or per ton
was thinking he going to show the "mother load"...
would have liked to have heard his haunted story lol
Krazy doesn't mean stupid
$1,300 bucks an ounce. Funny. I wish you could still buy an ounce of Gold for that price.
