I just checked two of the five (the last two I did in the video) and they were both queenless with emergency cells present. I've left the cells there for now. I'll update when I check the other three.

When it's warm enough Brad. We have had good luck with a newspaper merge. Putting the Nuc on top in a second deep super. I spray the paper with sugar spray. A mild bribery perhaps? :) A bit faster without the thump hitting the cardboard landing.

    🤣Shaking bees in shorts.😂
I actually like OTS best when it works, it is about the easiest method. I like that shake out method, I have sprays them down with sugar water and slotted them but I like the method you used. Next door is gona get a bump off it too, kind of a nice way to do a little balancing. Blessed Days Brad...

Did the same thing yesterday for the first time. Anxious to see how yours turn out.

I bought 20 Deep, 8 frames with a feeder hives this year. They all had queens introduced before i got them. One died out during transfer, due to it being too strong and limited air flow for 3 hours. The one colony mostly died out, but after removing the dead’s, and adding a couple strong combs of brood, the hive recovered.

Roughly 2 gallons of dead bees.

After adding the 2 full frames, of brood and bees, they cleaned out all of the dead brood and are starting to flourish as a new colony.

I stopped closing entrances when moving colonies after cooking bees. The nucs I'd placed here were never locked in. Thanks for watching !

I will be interested in your queen acceptance rate of the shake out combinations. I hope it turns out to be a very good option.

Good job Brad, I'll be pulling honey next week and checking hives. To hot this week for bee stuff. 34 to 35c

I have two halves that will lay up all the frames and then won't lay until they hatch I always got to remind myself for them

This spring Ive been thinking about the ratio of queenless bees to the bees in the queen right colony you’re shaking bees into. I don’t know the answer, but I typically would shake bees in front of a couple of different newly queenright small nucs, just to not push the issue.

I agree with you. I will follow up on the success of this manipulation.

Interesting, when I shake bees off frames the majority seem to go airborne. And not happy.

Old bees will fly. Young bees will not. Thanks for watching!
