Honestly if you watch Corridor Crew enough (of which Adam has appeared a couple of time for their VFX artists react episodes) you realise it's not that one is better that the other and it's more about A, having the time to get the work done properly and b, knowing which medium is best for the FX shot that you want to achieve

The Thing is nearly flawless IMO. The only ‘thing’ wrong with it is when Palmer briefly walks by Macready before stumbling outside (it’s clearly a moving rack) but that’s not enough for me to discredit the film.
It’s still the greatest Horror Sci-fi out there (Alien competes but I think of that as Sci-fi horror rather than horror sci-fi)

Totally agree with you. Rob Bottin's Practical affects in the Thing are mind blowing and still hold up today . I feel Rob doesn't get the level of credit that say Tom Savini has gotten over the years.

    • @bsodcat
      @bsodcat 2 года назад +1

@@theseventhnight i agree with that conclusion, I still think VFX has a couple more years to come once Ray-Tracing is in its golden years, lighting is one of if not the most sold aspect of practical effects in it’s own merit, but I do think VFX will get there one day.

Having the face exposed is always nice with a layered costume like that. When it comes to stuff like boots, I've come to realize most people who even know what character you're doing will not notice they're not really correct so long as they're close. I've quit worrying about spending a fortune on pieces I can't make if the alternative is close enough and significantly cheaper.

Kurt Russel and John Carpenter commentaries are by far my favourite commentaries.
      No matter the movie!

The Thing was on TV here in the UK just the other night.
Brilliant film. Back when special effects were 'special' and not simply GCI.

Soo many Cosplays he could come as. Especially with how good his costume making skills are. He could go as anything or anyone

Holy cow! The gentleman you take the first pic with is Odin from Odin Makes. I have met him. I am one degree of separation from knowing Adam Savage!

So, I wear a beard every day and I am always looking for costumes that let me incorporate it into the character. I can’t believe I never thought of this one! Brilliant!

The Thing has always been one of my favorite Scary movies.. Kurt Russell's "MacCready" The Take Charge Guy.... I also liked Wilford Brimley's character" Blair"... When he figures out what the alien creature is up to, and starts to smash everything. And they all think he's lost his mind.
    Such a good movie..

This one is my favorite. I remember my parents and their friends watching this movie at home on VHS, and then making my brother and I go to bed early because we were too little to watch it. But my brother and created a well thought out ninja plan with a drawn map of the house just to get to see it. We got to watch about 20 minutes of the most gorrific scene before getting caught, and its been one of my favorites ever since 😂

One of my all time favourite movies, and an amazing costume to celebrate it.
I'm also not surprised at all that an outfit designed for antarctic winter would be stupidly hot at a convention

Nicely done sir . Simple but effective and even looks authentic. People were probably afraid of you toting the flame thrower around .

I was totally unaware of this con. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, but I happened to be visiting friends in San Jose (well, Santa Clara, but close enough) the days of this convention, and would have loved to go, but didn’t know!

I miss the times of people trying to find you in the video but, understandably I'm sure that causes kind of a struggle out on the floor. Another beautiful costume, Adam. As always, 100%
