I'm seeing this in the early on 18/01/2024, only a matter of hours after it’s been recorded. It is very important that the NPP should reach out to those who do not understand Sinhala. I consider this an honest effort and it is great that the unvarnished truth is told. However, when compared with Nalindra's efforts in Sinhala, this may seem laboured. That is to be expected; the substance and the facts are there, and that ought to be appreciated. Those who are concerned about the future of the country would do well to listen carefully, although if you know Sinhala you may prefer to listen to what is produced in that language. Listeners must be constructive in their approach.
Dr Nalin… we hope you would deliver as promise…on the other hand more and more fruitful discussions like this based on NPP policies is essential in order to nullify certain misconceptions on NPP.
A good programme. Discussions of this nature in English and Tamil languages are very less or not available at all,so it is a must NPP should launch such discussions as much as they could to educate the Tamil and English speaking people of the policy plan of them.
Need a change in governance to the betterment of the masses else the social fabric will be in a mess with higher crime rate. Vote for NPP to come out of this mess. Thanks

Our history shows that no party has won the elections held so far without building alliances. So how is this time different? I am very pessimitic about the election victory, longer JVPrs would not join with others. THis country is diverse by their thoughts. That is why we have several political parties.
Dr. Nalinda, you may have felt that it's not easy to distort, lie and slander in English than in Sinhala. There was one important question that is taxation. You could not answer it till it was asked 2nd time. Yet what was your answer...tax corporate sector more. And then you said NPP doesn't believe in government doing business. Do you really know what it takes to start and sustain a business? Do you think entrepreneurs put their effort and capital to feed lazy free goodies seeking masses? Dr. Nalinda, anyone today can compile policies and plans in this technology advanced era. But implement those is a totally different game which I feel your team absolutely has no clue. There are many who appreciate your claimed honesty, non-corruption, integrity etc. There are many citizens like that but those alone won't help to address big problems. These same masses kept on electing wrong leaders for decades at the cost of hard working few to bear the brunt. And it may happen again, if it happens we will only be another North Korea.

I believe that he means something that we cannot pay this kind of tax because of the crisis situation and he already mention that joining a global supply chain. So my point is if NPP government could comply over this crisis after 2 or 3 years, that means people can handle the tax. Isn't it?
If you listened he said the indirect taxes should come down and billions of direct taxes uncollected should be taken. Not sure how you assume they are clueless on running state owned businesses.. the said entrepreneurs can invest in enterprises government decide to set-up joint ventures or fully privatized, Agree that investors don't throw money around when a country is infamous for corruption so first the NPP administration should set some examples by taking actions against the frauds which will signal at least the corruption hazard is out of the way for any new investor local or foreign. Just because countries seek investments they don't compromise their security and sovereignty for few bucks look how google did Huawei (right or wrong) Bottom line is (literally) corruption destroyed our country and if anyone is to come to power it must be the ones who can fight against it (at least that's a start) so worrying about a north Korea while Sri Lanka is in bankruptcy and no where near to even to start sorting the mess is an absolute joke.

You missed the most important point here and you are misleading which is , not corporate tax increasing. It's Due ppl who should pay tax but yet they are away from tax net.

Publicly announced already by the NPP the unwarranted maintenance expenditure of previous presidents and their wives will be no more, as it is a heavy burden to the country and there are many more of similar category, parliament exoenses, the MPs vehicle, fuel, buildings for ministers offices, parliament canteen, vehicle permits, they too have been announced by NPP
Since 1977 every government neglect the production economy how dare y say that? After 1977 the the mahaveli development scheme was started to develop the agriculture sector in the country and that worked if they have not started it country would have been in deep trouble now the production of paddy and other vegetable cops started and those area people are still enjoying the benefits thus far
Yah. You correct. But starting and maintaining is not same. Isn't it?. They started Mahaveli project and gain farmers support at that time, but after that they seeking a buyer to sell the power plants. Giving water to the dry zone is not the key target of mahavali but the maintaining. Unless people rally against them and that idea, do you believe that they have been there? If somehow that privatization happened, I do not think companies who bought that reserves give water away for free.
Just tell , what new technology has come to agriculture after 77 ? Any new methods of food preservations ? has the fisher industry gone to it's maximum yield ? with compare to consumption of foods , has the agriculture equipment or the agriculture inputs industry gone up ? Any new research on agricultural seeds ? Any new methods for prevent entering new diseases in to the country ? As a farmer myself i know hardships in agriculture as we fight in world Market with India & Israel which both countries has usage of utmost technology .....if you think doing a project and boast , Listen ppl now the agriculture has developed , god bless !
