- hi guys, i feel like i say this a lot, but this week has been a lot of me feeling great and me feeling not so great. I really just need to work on setting my expectations better so that I don't let myself down so often but REGARDLESS it was a hot but beautiful week in Seoul and I am happy to share a piece of it with you :) I've also been running into more and more of you guys on the street here in Korea and it literally makes my entire day and the day after and the day after when you say hey so THANK YOU! Pls know I am definitely more of an awkward human than you are so never feel weird about coming up to me LOL. By the time this is posted I'll be on my way to Japan so there won't be a vlog on Wednesday but I am excited to be back with another video next week! See you then and thank you for everything always.

Okay, I don't know why I feel the need to write you this mini essay, but here we go.
We watch your content because we enjoy not only Seoul but you and your life! There are tons of travel vlogs out there where I could see very cinematic shots of fancy shops and Korean life. What you bring to this channel is your own story and individuality. I love seeing your videos and feeling like a friend is hanging out, updating me on her life which just also happens to be somewhere gorgeous.
Secondly, don't feel apologetic for your content. Notice I didn't say "stop apologizing". I said don't feel sorry! I think we all feel lucky for the content you deliver. If you aren't living up to your own expectations, that's one thing - but know that your audience loves what you put out. That's why we're here week after week. The only pressure to deliver is the pressure you're putting on you, so be kind to yourself. 💖
And thirdly, I want to say that your channel is so inspiring to me that it's made me want to start my own. I've definitely felt before like my life is too boring for a vlog, but the enjoyment I get out of just watching you go get coffee at a cafe completely changed my mind. You helped me realize that if content is genuine and the creator is enjoying the creation, then what's there to be afraid of? What more do I need? When I do start my channel, it'll be under a completely different username (I want to be sure it's pretty anonymous in terms of my real name), but know that it's because of the content you make that it's even happening for me at all.

cari cakes I couldn’t describe it better. Nonetheless, you have made me gain my confidence back. I have watched how you enjoy the little things and how much happiness you get from them. You shared your own story and it made me realize that there is nothing wrong with my life. And there is no reason I should be like these fancy people that we see online nonstop! I started loving my life when I saw there is someone who enjoys the same things as I do and doesn’t feel guilty about it. Please keep it up and never change for others. 💕

THIS! I relate so much to your last paragraph! I'm a content creator for my city. I work for the city I live in and my job is to attend city events and make videos about said events. I LOVE LOVE to watch your videos to get inspiration and she just put it into words for me! You REALLY have helped me realize that if my content is genuine my video quality is increased! Life before big planned events seems stagnant in comparison to those great plans you have ahead, ONLY in comparison. "life in seoul" includes everything; the adventures, the travels, the cafes, the movies, and the basic stuff like cleaning your house, doing laundry, and washing the dishes because those are life things no matter how entertaining or boring they seem. i appreciate your traveling vlogs but i also appreciate your more toned down videos of just going to a cafe, walking around a bit, and going home because i can relate to those more. life and content don't always need to be exciting, enjoy the rainy days 💕✨
Thank you for your little chats. The fact that you open up when life is less than perfect. With social media and youtube it's nice to take a break and be like "We're all people with bad days and good days and good moments in bad days and bad moments in good days" and whenever you open up a discussion about more negative feelings, it feels like theres now a whole community of people all going "oh thank god yea". it feels friendly and chill.
You show us so much more than cafes and you've created a family on here of nice people just going through life and making happy moments.

I totally get you cari. I told you about my CIEE fail as a teacher and my life feels so awful now. It feels like NOTHING will change and I will be stuck in Germany....but girl...keep your head up. You have a wonderful husband, live in one of the most developed countries, you are gorgeous, are able to travel, inspire thousands of people and you have a job. There's no better thing. I just randomly came across your channel and at first, I wasn't really planning to stay, but here I am, after watching almost every from your videos. Your aesthetic just grabbed my heart, and now this. I totally feel you. I'm on the 2nd year of Uni, trying to stay productive, have good grades, get a part-time job to be able to later apply for exchange, meet with friends and I'm just getting tired of my life and my plans. At the same time, I can't stop dreaming and thinking about the "bright" future that I planned for myself. I'm watching your vlogs from Seoul and missing being here, even tho I never been to Asia. I feel like I have been getting those strange ups and downs but I don’t really have anything upcoming to excite me just the long burn of uni. It’s completely valid to feel this way. Your AC is not loud and you’re doing a brilliant job with these videos! We couldn’t be any prouder right now! You are making great content that is really enjoyable, no matter what you do and your personality always brightens up my day. I remember seeing that “say no to kids, drugs” tee when I was back there and I pointed it out to my sister and we laughed so hard together in the freezing Hongdae at the time.

Honestly, it has been a couple of rough MONTHS for me ever since I moved to a different country. But watching your vlogs for the last two weeks has helped me so incredibly much, my outlook on life and the way I was thinking have already changed and I am so grateful.

ok i might be late but still: as far as i understand you feel like a normal day with you visiting a cafe is boring. I personally really enjoy it, it's just another day and all these cafés look so comfy and the music fits and all these random shots of the sky and the trees and all the items in a store are so nice to watch. idk I couldn't really mention many other vloggers that upload videos like this that feel so genuine(as you said, when you smile you are indeed happy). also you look beautiful and your voice is really nice. not to be weird but there are certain people in this world that have a good/comfortable voice to listen to and you're one of them. upload what you're fine with but please remember that even your "boring" videos are still interesting to watch

In all honesty I initially watched you because I was interested in your Seoul videos. But not anymore. I love all your videos, you've put effort and time into capturing moments and accompanying it with the most perfect music that it's hard to not watch your videos till the end. Even if your videos aren’t what you consider super interesting your viewers do. I think your awesome you go to cafes and travel by yourself. I also think your sit down chats are part of your appeal. I think your videos are calming and although it’s cool that your in Korea I enjoy your presence/personality more than the location.
hey Cari, I loved this vlog! I just wanna say I feel you. As a growing artist/illustrator posting on social media I can relate on the point of "am I making effort to grow or try or even change things?". I always try to think like that cheesy saying that says "some flowers don't bloom all year long". But I really came to tell you that I can see a difference since you started part-timing. Lots new videos, that made me really happy to see you not worrying so much bc of managing time and working (even with the hectic part you said~ I see that you're real and life happens, so it's not a plastic vlog/video every time), and also because no matter what you did - from being in pretty places to cleaning your bathroom - I think what makes all nice is your point of view, not what's cute. Sometimes what's cute is you talking about a nice coffee shop owner even if it's rainy, humid or polluted. Or trying to explain what a pattern of a shirt reminds you of. Or talking for a long time about how a sad book made you feel that month. For sure some things are more "entertaining" but I always enjoy the sincerity the most. And I think most people here agree (:

What funny timing I've felt so low just the past two days and it doesn't feel like it's about much. I'm a teacher and it's the summer holidays which feel so so long. There are also some changes that are happening in life as well. I was meant to meet a friend for drinks Friday night in central London and it was raining and the tourists were everywhere driving me nuts and the first place we went to didn't work and then I ended up going to to this overpriced not that nice Chinese restaurant with my boyfriend and everything just seemed crappy. It's funny how we can just let things pile up especially if we're not in a great mood to begin with. Something we need to wipe the slate clean I think, trying to do that this weekend by doing a proper tidy of my room. Good luck to you too xx

I follow you with all my heart and interest but i rarely comment, but i have to because i watch you for the fact that i can relate to you at many levels, don’t ever feel like you’re rumbling for too long, it’s just your way of connecting and releasing your thoughts. I totally understand you, I’m on the same thing with my partner lately, he works and is always busy but on the other side I’m not “busy” so I’ve been putting off some moments just so that i can dedicate that time for him when he’s free, as you said the only time we see together is when we go to sleep.
You’re content is unique, it’s calm and it represents you and i like that! I could watch videos of cafes, funny t-shirts, views from buses, fast clouds, wind in the trees... every day. Your editing is beautiful, your videos are calm and relaxing, and they show a very personal but also very real side of Seoul.
