What will life on earth be like in 500 years? Will humans still be alive or will be have gone extinct?
500 years ago, roughly only half of the earth had been thoroughly explored and colonized, and the Americas were home to indigenous civilizations, but were largely unknown to the rest of the world. People lived and died in the same homes, or at best, could aspire to end their lives no more than a few miles from where they were born. Yet today, globalism has connected the planet, and for most of the world, your future is in your own hands. The jet engine and the internet have brought us opportunities that can take us around the Earth, while modern medicine keeps pushing the limits of our mortality. But what might the future hold? Welcome to this episode of The Infographics Show- where we take a look at what life on earth might look like in 50, 100, and 500 years.

I don't think everyone would automatically start speaking English. It would be a slow convergence as languages borrow enough words from each other until they are basically the same. Not sure how grammar would work though.

the way I like to think of the current level of human evolution: humanity collectively is just exiting its teenage years and entering early adulthood, we're learning to go out into the world (or universe) and take control of our lives (or world) for the first time in our history, we're experiencing all the ups and downs that come with early adulthood but also experiencing steady, constant growth along the way, preparing us for when we collectively enter our 30s or spacefaring years and really start to crystalize our knowledge and start truly establishing ourselves in the wider universe, like any 18-20 year old we'll make some dumb, impulsive decisions that hurt us in the short term but hopefully given time we'll smarten up, get a real job and really take advantage of the upward trajectory our lives are going in

watching this ruined my day, i grew up in and around the forest and mountains spending most of my childhood playing and exploring in them and knowing they they will inevitably be destroyed for natural resources and farmland breaks my heart. It's like hearing you best friend was just diagnosed with terminal cancer and will only live a fraction of the life that he could have otherwise. humans are parasites on this planet and we should never have evolved the way that we did...

With how science and medicine is advancing at the minute I honestly think immortality will be a thing 40-50 years from now
I am going to turn 18 next year, and knowing how quick time already passes by, I am simply afraid that immortality will either be discovered when I eventually become too aged to attain it, or it will be discovered sometime after I eventually die.

This is definitely 1 way of looking at it and I would say the logic here is fairly sound, in my opinion. If we don't wipe ourselves off the planet and can get past the next 100 years, I think we have a real shot at being a super civilization.
All I can see is being 50 years in the future in a post apocalyptic fallout world, watching this video and remembering the good old times when we had it so easy for us and didn't take advantage.

Pretty lofty speculations; you’re quite optimistic in humanity’s ability to accomplish these things, even within 500 years. Although I am quite an optimistic person, even in regards to humans, I am a little more pessimistic when considering our future advancements as a species. That being said, I really, truly hope these things come to pass and within the timeframes you’re talking about. I DO believe it is entirely possibly to accomplish these things, if humanity comes together to make it so. But I think politics, religion and war will keep us from advancing at the rates you’re describing; it’ll take 10 times longer, which is quite unfortunate.
With how things are now.....and going off of how people react to things now(by all emotion and never with adult like qualities) in 500 years, earth will only have what evidence is left of what was here before.....luckily....I won't be around then, so I don't care lol

Saying only a worms brain is a HUGE overstement. It was a flatworm which is super simple. Not every Neuron interaction has been mapped either. The team has only achieved basic moments.
But we don't know how advanced future technology could be, so it's not easy to say it's not possible
@@Marixchatt Yeah and think about the translation issues. I doubt they could transfer any kind of free will from the roundworm to the robot. COmputers are simple and act only based on algorithmic action. Even simple roundworms can make decisions for themselves. The way a worm thinks is vastly different to the way a computer processes information.
Living forever in any form is my worst nightmare. I think i have right to die someday and just fade away. I mean the entire universe will end eventually, and i dont want to be there when it does.
