Interesting point regarding the mystery woman, Elena Dahl. Nikolai Dahl was Serge's therapist who I believe is credited in relieving the composer's depression, resulting in his splendid 2nd piano concerto. Very interesting discussion of my favorite composer. Also I understand he composed the All Night Vigil in two weeks, which is beyond amazing! Thanks.
In passing - a book parcel arrived for me today (YAY!!). Two of the books are by Matthew Raphael Johnson (''The Russian Orthodox Medievalist') - • Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality - Lectures on Medieval Russia • The Ancient Orthodox Tradition in Russian Literature
Extraordinary and rich information on unique, oustanding virtuoso Sergei Rachmaninoff. Grateful to the wonderful lecturer Dr. Valeria Z.Nollan. And to Russian History Museum Absolutely love RH
I have been waiting with anticipation for Dr Hodge's presentation on Ivan Turgenev. Happy to continue to wait patiently but I hope there hasn't been a technical or censorship problem.
@@RussianHistoryMuseum Actually, sadly, when I went to the bookstore the very next morning I was informed that it was only available as 'print to order' (or something) and that it would cost around $230. I had to let it pass but will keep it on my 'wish list'.
“The importance of God”, mhm. The importance of God is the importance of truth itself, revealed in the Bible. You better not ignore the Gospel, because it is about salvation ... This must be said, because today's world is completely lacking in relation to the truth, and thus not least to God, and that means: Jesus Christ!

Thank you, Dr. Nollan, for executing your research and for sharing it.
The ONE thing I wish about Sergei Rachmaninoff is that he had NOT been a chain smoker.

70 is not a bad innings especially when you consider most of those years were generally healthy.
Richly informative - thank you so much Valeria. Book now on order.
Glad you purchased the book - we just ordered it for our library!
