Awful. Mr Salazar is so full of himself he can’t even be a good leader and allow the band to get better over time. It’s the same garbage every year and it’s been like this for 30 years it’s time for him to step down!!! How many times has he been to state or even advanced to finals at a semi-major competition?!?!
HamBandit Lol yes right after I posted this I heard the news. I’m sorry... but he’s not fit to be in education, and I’m genuinely surprised he held that position for as long as he did. The band has been mediocre at best for the past 30+ years and I’m glad those kids will finally see a positive change. I’m not saying anything is better than Salazar but it’s absolutely therapeutic to be a part of a college music program that actually makes our practice time worth it. Salazar just isn’t a great guy to talk to and the way he ran that program speaks volumes to why I’m not going into music until after I get my life together and recover from what little CISD did to prepare me for this next step.
I'm super glad Salazar has stepped down. I had him for his last year last year. Our new band director Mr. Watson is much better. You'll be happy to know he is very tough on us and we have been doing really well considering we started last week. Tomorrow we will start marching our show so it will be amazing when football season comes
wolfkid0517 I wish you well. I don’t have the fondest memories of high school band. Performing was great but I spend many sleepless nights watching other Texas bands and wondering what my life would be like if I hadn’t thrown away my entire social life for a program that did virtually nothing for me. I’d love to have one more talk with Mr. Salazar just to ask him what was going through his head for those 30 years we weren’t advancing to state. Honestly I’m starting to link the CHS band program to so many issues I’m having today. I have almost no lifelong friends that check up on me specifically from CHS, my grades suffered because Mr Salazar told us that jobs don’t care about AP classes or even regular grades. That man honestly messed up a lot of people’s lives and careers by misinforming and sometimes even lying to students. Please be grateful for what you have I know COVID will mess with it, but you guys will be amazing under new leadership.
I agree i'm glad Salazar is gone, glad they got a new leader

Rocket Raccoon well you’ll be glad to know then that Salazar is finally stepping down.

wolfkid0517 this comment hasn’t aged well. I prefer Salazar over Watson personally. I really miss Sally.
