The stages of this one are really brilliantly written. During the first phrase the sound is light and playful, with flutes carrying a melody as he has fun with the fight. In the second phrase he switches to his Delusion because he's starting to get desperate, and the music reflects that, with the flutes dropping the melody and simply playing repeated short, sharp notes that sound angry while the music loses its playfulness and gets darker. Then there's the ominous transformation, and the third phase goes in hard with the dark and haunting sounds signifying his Abyssal connection to the Foul Legacy form. The chanting grows, the music grows to a peak, and he's in danger of losing himself to that Abyssal influence - and then we suddenly lose all texture and sound for a moment right near the end, before we get that short bit of lighter but still haunting sound. It's like he barely pulled himself back from surrendering himself to the Abyss, or perhaps from dying due to giving Foul Legacy too much of his lifeforce, and he's gasping for air as he comes out of it. It's SO good and fits the character and the fight so well. Small SPOILERS for his role in Fontaine ahead, music-related and as vague as possible: . . . . . . When you hear the remix of his theme in Fontaine, it's conspicuously missing part of its soundscape. Very significant considering something else he's missing at the time storywise. It was a nice touch!
DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE what a catch, I didn’t even consider the consuming aspect of the foul legacy transformation, and the musical motives that we see return in the cutscene, awesome
Man I still remember the first time I fought Tartaglia. It was a full shock for me. That moment when I thought I beat him and that transformation scene came in. I screamed! I really wish they would buff his boss fight so it could be as fun as it used to be.
The electric guitar section and the subsequent followup is similar to a, guess what, whale song and his constellation is Monoceros Caeli, a narwhal... You know, the one Childe slapped us during his boss fight...
tbf of the accordion sounds - that instrument is VERY popular in countries by which (so far as we can see) snezhnaya is themed after, namely russia and some of its direct neighbors.
RIGHT? idk why people forget countries can share instruments and musical sounds/motifs lol. Some of my favourite Russian classical composers used Accordions
Childe's boss fight theme is still one of my favorites, even with the other bangers we've got. I'm really happy to see your reaction to it and pointing out little bits here an there that I haven't noticed myself.
It's because he's from Snezhnaya. And Russia uses a lot of accordions in their music too. A lot of classical Russian composers used Accordions and Organs heavily.
The one part where the guitar goes full whale is usually when tartie whales you, btw. Unless u kill him extremely fast, the song gets tgere and he whales u. 🐋
So. Every now and then I go back to the first Genshin live concert to listen to the music of my favourite boy, the one who makes me question, whose side I am on - the traveller's or the Fatui's... The concert is great, I love the pianist, who looks like a pro-gamer who was dragged out of his cave to get these fingers to honest work 😂 Great analysis btw!
I think the "electric guitar" might actually be an electric violin? The slides remind me more of a violin than guitar and the sound itself quite sounds like distorted violin🤔
The Fontaine sounds probably come the fact that Childe is Shnezhnayan, so russian, and that a lot of instruments that could be linked to France could be linked to Russia too, such as the accordeon
Nope! Makes me wonder if he'll get a revamped theme at some point in Fontaine for story purposes that will rehash that same bit, and we can finally get the lyrics. The lyrics are in the Abyss-coded section of the song, so it's possible that releasing them might have been spoilery back in 1.1 when we didn't know as much about the Abyss. (And to be fair, we still don't know THAT much about it.)
I mean he's in the fortress of meropede, he's probably the reason we'll be going there in the next patch and Wriothesley's a guard there I think. I'm expecting some shit to go down :D
@@ReQ1999 He may play a greater role NEXT update but all he did this update was cause a mystery. The focus on him was completely derailed by the fact of the Prophecy and the Water bursting, none of which had anything to do with Tartaglia.
@@X_x_ShadowGaming_x_X Had nothing to do with Tartaglia... That we know of. I was just commenting on how you said he serves zero purpose, he obviously does. His storyline in this is steadily evolving, from the very first meeting in Fontaine he's been talking about the whale and insinuating that something is about to burst. Just because he wasn't the main focus of the quests, doesn't mean he didn't serve a purpose. Everything Hoyo does with their stories have purpose.
Ayo, this music slaps hard. Harbinger themes have only gotten crazier over the years, but Childe still holds up.

Is there any comparison videos that put the two themes side by side?
I feel like the first phase sounds playful as if Childe didn't take you quite seriously just yet, especially at the beginning

2:06 it's supposed to be Russian inspired (because Russia also uses accordions) and he's from Snezhnaya, the Russia inspired nation

Now that you mention it, it do be sounding Fontain-esque, ha... Wow... both the accordion and the organ !

I heard it for the forst time and heard from many people that this one is crazy and damnn... IT IS CRAZY
Funny how I also realized the fontaine similarities after hearing it again right now. Makes me really wonder what will happen.
THE FONTAINE SOUND OF IT IS SO FITTING KNOWING WHAT WE KNOW NOW WHATTTT
I think the "electric guitar" might actually be an electric violin? The slides remind me more of a violin than guitar and the sound itself quite sounds like distorted violin🤔
Does anybody get Count Bleck vibes from the ticking clock sound with the organs in the second phase?

Tartaglia literally serves zero purpose in the Fontaine questline as of right now other than showing off how goated Neuvillette is.
I mean he's in the fortress of meropede, he's probably the reason we'll be going there in the next patch and Wriothesley's a guard there I think. I'm expecting some shit to go down :D
