I buy multi-packs of Thank You cards and Sympathy cards each year, and I stash them in my desk at work. Thank You cards are great to send home to students when they give a holiday gift. Whenever a colleague experiences a loss, I fill out a sympathy card and put it in their mailbox. People are appreciative of such gestures. Card-giving is thoughtful and classy.
I agree a thank you or sympathy card is a necessary gesture of kindness but I think she’s referring to the expensive $5 birthday card. Where you just sign your name. Her idea to do an inexpensive card with a personalized note or spending the same $5 on a gift card is a great idea. I only but my cards from the dollar tree now. Hallmark has a line there.
I agree totally with you about holiday decorating. I’m going very minimal on Christmas decorating. It’s completely exhausting getting so much out then putting it back! Just our tree and a few of my favs.
I’m a hairstylist and clients with long hair are encouraged to get their ends trimmed every 3 months. That way you only need 1/2” cut off instead of waiting for a year and getting 6” cut off! People with shorter hair I recommend the every 6 weeks for maintenance. Can you go longer, of course, I encourage longer if you’re growing it out! The reason for ever 6 weeks is to keep the style the way you like it. It does take more styling time to try to make a grown out cut do what you want it to do! These are all guide lines for client convenience! You can always go longer if you have the time or the patience to fiddle with your hair.
In a slight tweak of this video, now that travel is picking up again, I'd love to see a 'things you don't need to pack on a trip' video. Or, to put a more positive spin on it, traveling light: how to style a short business or leisure trip if you're only taking carry-on (outfits plus essential personal care items).
Hello beautiful how are you doing today I hope you are having a nice day off do tell me how is health and work how is the weather over there do you mind if we can be friends!
@dreamland It was from Canada, I forgot to mention that im a dual citizen, Canadian and European. I think if you only have a Canadian passport then you can't leave for a bit unfortunately..
I somehow got suggested a video on “Swedish death cleaning” - (had to see what that was) …& it’s a great idea I’m working on. Their mindset is, when u pass, u leave all ur clutter for loved ones to have to deal with. So go through ur belongings & strip down. No duplicates, no keeping ever single thing ur child made at school, no “space fillers”/ objects with zero function or regularly used purpose, etc. I watched that, looked around & felt like a hoarder!!!
Great tips Shea! Whenever I get greeting cards I cut them up and turn them into little gift tags for Christmas, birthday or other occasions. Also- I never buy gift wrapping paper...I buy pretty kitchen towels (garage sales, thrift stores etc..) according to the season and wrap my presents in them. Thank you!
I agree with everything! Except 1- Ingesting essential oils (very dangerous!! unless you have professional information about which oils can be ingested and how). 2- Powder nail dip, as I was told it damages the nail in the long run. 3) Never sending greeting cards. A lot of people, especially older people, lonely people, many children are really excited when they get snail mail and a beautiful or fun card that comes from the heart. I only buy unexpensive ones (like 2 euros or less) or make them myself (paint or draw it), and always write a personal message by hand. I dislike the ones bought with a printed message inside that only need a signature (unless someone has a physical difficulty holding a pen) because they look and feel so impersonal and commercial.
I was thinking the same thing about the essential oil. I’ve heard some varying info but my guess is it’s safer to avoid ingesting them. Dollar Tree has some nice cards and packs ranging from $0.50-$1.00! Not necessarily short but usually pretty cute. $5+ is just too much IMO 😬
I totally agree with you! Sending letters and cards is a dying art. My friends and I still send the occasional "just because" card, and it strengthens our usual texting bond. I actually stock up on cute blank cards and keep them in my desk drawer...and I always have stamps in my wallet or my desk drawer, next to the cards I use.
I always send cards for every occasion and sometimes just for the heck of it. I love to receive cards and send cards and most of the people I know love to get cards. I hate to get the ones people send on their phones. They are so impersonal. It only takes a few minutes to make out a card for goodness and they have beautiful once at the Dollar tree I always stock up but I get special ones for certain people's birthdays especially family
OK I’m a dietitian and can’t take the cut up fruit. Yes it lasts longer if uncut but is still has PLENTY of nutrition if its precut…Many people dont eat 1 serving of fruits or vegetables a day so my job is to get them to eat them I don’t care what form!!!
Yes! Still better than a bag of chips. If people can afford it, why not have cut up fruit on hand to make it just as convenient to snack on as those chips.
I think it's more expensive to buy the fruit pre-cut up than to just buy a pineapple and cut it up yourself. And plus then you have the plastic packaging that goes into the landfills and doesn't biodegrade. LOL I sound like a hippie, don't I? 😂 I just think for the chemicals they have to put on cut up fruit to keep it from browning I'd rather just buy the actual piece of fruit and cut it up myself. 😊
I haven’t done the math on this, but is pre-cut fruit THAT much more expensive (when buying by weight)? When you buy, say, a whole melon, or pineapple, or even an orange, how much of the weight you pay for is thrown away in peel/seeds/other inedible parts? When you buy pre-cut, you are only paying for edible weight. Plus, it’s helpful for people with mobility issues to help them consume more whole foods. Imagine peeling an orange, or cutting up a watermelon with arthritis or a tremor. We can definitely do without the plastic packaging. There are better packaging options.
OMG I love this video. 100% agree with all. Toys I have been doing this from many years. I hide few toys in garage for couple of months and keep changing them. There is So much less plastic waste. Other thing I stopped using is plastic water bottles for all, Nonstick cooking utensils, ziploc boxes to store cooked hot food.
Hi. Thank you for this cool vid. I use Period Underwear, but because I've got Fibroids in my uterus, I tend to bleed a lot more. So now, I use Reusable Pads with the Period Underwear to be more safe. You can also get Reusable Panty Liners. All are available on Amazon. Hope this helps ☺️
Shea, I hope you don’t mind if I make a tiny suggestion about greeting cards. I like to donate money to save animals so one of the things I do is to use the cards they send you after you donate. They send you gorgeous cards as a thank you. I use them for every occasion as I feel buying any card is a waste. They will be thrown out after the recipient looks at it. But donating to shelters and rescue organizations is NOT a waste of money and you can just use the cards they give you.
Hi again, I was writing a comment about dipping nails but my post disappeared before I finished it. So don’t use the dipping products in a Salons, so many have used it prior to you. You can pick up nail fungus and other nasties. About monthly protection you can buy washable pads online. I can’t remember details about them , but they are made from bamboo and it supposedly stops odor while you are not adding all those other pads to the worlds waste problem. I love watching you Shea, don’t stop.
The interesting side benefit to most of your decisions is that the environment is being taken care of too. No enhanced water = no bottles floating around in the oceans. No cut up fruit = no plastic containers in landfill. No face wipes = less rubbish in landfill. Excellent choices!
I agree with every single one except the mascara primer. I use the Cover Girl Lash Blast primer under a coat of Maybelline Sky High Lashes and 2 coats of L’Oréal Telescopic and I think that is a perfect combo. 💜💜
I only like just plan water. I don't like flavored water at all. I really like all these new type of vlogs. I get a lot out of them. Thanks for sharing them with us. I love your hair pulled back in a braid.
The rotation of toys works like a charm. We used to do this with my grandson. The joy that we saw when he rediscovered the NEW toys were amazing to watch.
Love the dip manicures. They last for weeks without chipping and I’m not one to wear gloves while cleaning or doing the dishes. I get gel on my toes and it lasts just as long. I know it’s probably not good for my nails but my natural nails have always been weak despite taking supplements and forgoing manicures for sometime to try and strengthen them.
I use an iphone 5 from my brother when he upgraded. People should gift their old but still usable phones to family or donate to charity. If the old phone isn’t usable there are certain places that can recycle them.
They got me this year with the introduction of 5G. My phone wasn’t working properly! I didn’t have to spend money to purchase the 5G phone but it makes me feel like a chump!
I agree about the decorations! Only a new wreath for my door if needed and keeping inside minimal. I don’t like the clutter and stress of having to get all that stuff out anymore.
Awesome video! I agree with 95% of all of these things ---- I love your approach, you aren't slamming a product, you have a thoughtful and well researched answer for why you do or don't buy it. I love it!
I agree with so much of your list. However, I do have to keep buying makeup remover wipes and hairspray. My daughter is a dancer who does a lot of competitions in addition to our "really big" yearly recital. Along with the many costume changes at each event, there are also hair and makeup changes as well. Some of these changes have to take place in ten minutes or less. We go through a lot of makeup wipes and hairspray every season.
I absolutely love this video. So well done, with great humor I always get lots if info from you! What a funny lady you are. Like champagne, sparking and and bubbly !
Hi Shea, if you want mineral in your water, why don't you just drink mineral water? Like Perrier or other types of mineral waters that are naturally infused with minerals? Just asking. Lancome Faux Cils primer for lashes is the best! I have used primers for my lashes for decades! I don't know if your using too much or smtg if it's clumpy , but my lashes look so much better with a primer. 😘😘😁
Great tips !!! I’m just like you xoxoxo as a health coach , the dirty dozen is a thing especially in us & North America and people need to pay a close attention to it and invest in their health more , same for processed meat !! I suggest grass fed meat that excists at Costco that is completely different and tastes different and way more delicious and tender !!! I love your channel co ur raw and real !!! Keep shining 🙏🙏
Agreed! I do some but it’s truly more by season (vs holiday, which can be every month, esp right now!). I just switched out Spring/Summer items for fall. The only short term decorating I do is Christmas. Then it’s winter stuff until Spring.
Great tips Shea! I especially love the one about greeting cards - I couldn't agree more that it is a total waste of money and I love what you suggested as an alternative - brilliant! Thanks for sharing :)
I have been giving $5 gift cards to my family members for 8 years. And in turn, that is what they give me! Special occasions like the 16th birthday, I give money instead .
Hi Love your channel. I have done my own gel manicures for 10 years! And of course I did my toes. Until that one trip to Chicago where we I bumped my big toe on a 711 door. I had to go to the emergency room, because my nail shifted off the nail bed. Yeah, over the next couple weeks I lost the nail and regrew a new one. I thought salons won’t do toes for that reason. The doctor did blame the polish. But I am super clumsy, and of course that would happen to me!!
I agree with the dip polish! I never got manicures because they wouldn’t last more than 2 days with my very manual job. But dip polish… game changer! They last like 4-6 weeks! My nails have never been this long because the dip polish protects them so well!
Awesome! I love that you’re health conscious. I’m a cancer survivor and I appreciate allllll your advice. I’m changed over to Skylar for my perfume and have done many other healthful things 😍
So, on the period underwear…I’d like to try it but I struggle with the feeling of everything oozing out. In the evening when I’m home for the night I give my body a break from the tampax. I can handle the evenings at home with the oozing out feeling but all day long? Yikes! I tried the diva cup once and it wasn’t my cup of tea. How do you combat the oozing feeling with the period panties? Also…something that you may appreciate that you don’t buy anymore since you mentioned disposable face cleanser wipes…reusable cotton rounds. I currently use them as eye makeup remover and to apply toner on my face. Game changer!
Totally agree on no over decorating! As for the makeup...mine consists of my brows and lashes...no primer. Skin care..always been a gentle cleanser, vit c and sun screen for day then cleanser and a retin A for pm...
I agree with all the list, I don't do the new phone thing either, I have had 6 phones in 21 years I only got one of those brand new, my first phone. I did the toy rotation thing way back when my kids were little, worked like a charm, and now my daughter uses it with her kids lol
Just a caution for gel pedicure - I had the same gel on for 6-7 weeks 2-3 times without paus last summer, and ended up with nail fungus! It took me a long time to get rid of it... So even if it's not chipping, change it more frequently. :)
I got a nail fungus from an at home dip powder. I had banged my nail and it cracked so water got in. I bought Fuginix from Amazon and used it as directed. The fungus was gone in a little over 30 days.
I 100% agree with holiday decorations. I've never decorated the house for Halloween!! Although I don't think many houses in the UK do, I think that's far more popular in the US. I don't really decorate the outside of my house for Xmas either and I don't really do anything excessive inside too. We have the tree, we decorate the tree and any left over tinsel we have, we put around our picture frames and leave it at that. They can be expensive, time consuming to put up and take down, space consuming and people feel the need to change them up frequently (even every year if they "change their colour theme" each year) and it is such an excessive WASTE!
A quick note about menstrual cups: They need to be replaced annually/bi-annually. It’s not a one and done thing. Please read the box and accompanying literature.
The only seasonal decor i have are things my kids made in school. And pumpkins and Xmas trees. We have a collection of tree ornaments from places we have visited/vacationed. That's it!
Thanks Shea! I didn't really think much of those mascara primers but LisaJ mentioned Chanel and it really does work. It doesn't clump my mascara after I use it at all. In fact I will put the primer on and just put mascara on real light not too heavy and it looks very natural.
I haven't had anything go wrong in the 5 3/4 years I have been doing this. I wasn't trying to push that thought, just sharing my experience. I do have a neighbor who can't ingest them.
I totally agree with EVERYTHING you mentioned in this video…except the hairspray!! I have to use a bit when I do my hair or it never holds -at all! I even do the “toy bin trick”! This was fun. Thanks!😄
I also don't like to use make up removal and thought the eraser was so much better but I feel like it's so much work to keep it germ free.. same goes for reusable feminine panties and other things I feel like thought be one time use but Def there are better options than old school pads. Thank you for your videos 🌹
Just went to buy the Make Up Eraser - you should mention they also support the fight against breast cancer, and they have a special edition for that as well. I know that is not the main reason to buy them or why you love them I guess, but its good to know when we support something good. 😊 Could you do a video on sustainable brands you like or support and/or brands with a mission. Always looking for new ideas in that field. Thanks
I lack the manual dexterity that would be needed for use of the Diva cup. When having periods was a thing for me, tampons were the way to go. But I was careful to buy all cotton types, so they were biodegradable. And I never flushed them down the toilet! I'm 61, so that hassle is behind me, and I'm so glad to be done with it all.
3. No more Christmas YES! Last year, simple garland formed a tree on brick fireplace. Fresh tree in stand with white lights. That’s it!! (Also during move from one house to other, this was one way to simplify life).
I just stocked up on facial makeup remover wipes, but will try the cloths after they are gone. I never buy fancy cards either! I appreciate the information you share, thank you!
I would not recommend it. It's disgusting and you have to wash it vigorously after each use because it collects bacteria. Use a clean wipe daily. It works way better, and don't waste time listening to this chic. Your welcome 😘
Makeup remover wipes are not good for your skin! I highly recommend using a micellar water to remove the bulk of the makeup, then going in with a cleanser to thoroughly clean the skin. I put micellar water on reusable cotton pads and the makeup eraser cloth and it works great!
Thank you for the heads up Ms Shea, it is good to hear it once in a while ; you are so right about ¨stuff ¨ that we ¨consume ¨ (too much) and damage (kill) the environment (and our own life sometimes!). Thank youuuu!
Hi!!! I’m totally late to this video 🙃but have really been considering period underwear. Brand recommendations? I couldn’t find anything linked but I probably just missed it. How long do you find they last before they don’t work anymore and you have to throw them/replace them? ❤️love your videos!
LOL already spent $300 for Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations every year I spend like $1000 on Christmas decorations it’s like a disease but it makes me happy🤪
I agree with being over the clutter of holidays. I buy flowers because they can be composted later. Holiday decorating tips that are more organic or that don’t use cheap decor that ends in the landfill would be great for a video/
The thing with gel…I have to cut my nails like every 2 weeks for sure, so the pedi polish will be cut. My hair also grows fast (and therefore, my roots will show sooner), and while I can disguise most of the roots for a while, I have to get trims every 6 weeks. During lockdown from March to June 2020, I went 12 weeks and then thank God, our salons reopened 🙂
I cut my hair once a year 😂😂😂 I am the same with the toes tho. I like them super short so I get regular Polish. I get gel on my nails tho. It doesn’t last as long as the SNS but I do my own nails and it’s easier to take gel Polish off.
Omg these are all so on point!! Especially the skin care thing. I use one thing on my face before bed and one thing on my face before I do my makeup. What the hell else do we need? Lol
You have to make sure that the manicurist doesn't dip your nails in the powder, but pours it over them or bring your own. You can catch fungus infections from other customers that have had their nails dipped before you.
YESSSS!!!! Great ideas! My kids are already adults but I used to hide some of their birthday presents and then take them out when they got bored with the ones out. It was a constant “new toys” situation but it was not true. Some toys were not age appropriate so I waited till they get to the age. Not buying the new cellphone I’ve been doing it for years, because I don’t buy a new cellphone until the one I’m using doesn’t work properly.
Great video! Great advice! Try Hot Sexy Hair spray by Sexy Hair in the pink bottle. Will hold your curl and has a heat protectant. Not sticky at all. I love it! I typically don’t like hair spray either but this is pretty good.
Yes. Yes. Yes. I am a card person. People really appreciate this gesture.

Amen! I have short hair, pixie style. 6 weeks is a must. Longer hair can definitely go longer.

Some people have super heavy flows, so period underwear and cups maybe would last an hour or two. Sometimes disposable is just the only option.
I was about to say the same thing . It’s not for everyone .
Exactly. And then wait till peri menopause hits when “George” gets even heavier… 🥴
I agree ☝️

I swim for ~2 hours and propel is the only thing I drink when working out. No sugar, only electrolytes and definitely helps with cramping

Lancome has a very good mascara primer. It has worked at least for me.... although I am not sure if they still sale it.
I am not sure if primer is the same as lash serum but that second one under mascara makes a huge difference :)

Yes! I used to be big in decorating but now I’m more minimal. It ends up looking cluttered and gawky,
Minimal is life. I’m HR so I decorate at work to create joy at work but at home my joy is the bate minimum!
Agreed! I do some but it’s truly more by season (vs holiday, which can be every month, esp right now!). I just switched out Spring/Summer items for fall. The only short term decorating I do is Christmas. Then it’s winter stuff until Spring.
I have one box for Fall, one for Halloween, and 2 for Christmas. My rule is it has to fit in the box or I can’t purchase it.
As an Aussie, I don’t really get the whole seasonal decorating thing. We decorate for Christmas. That’s it.
I prefer only a couple of things per season. This keeps it to a little touch of the season versus like a store display.
I got the makeup eraser 7 day pack after you recommended it in one of your videos and I love it! 💕
I’m with you on the iPhones. I still have my 7+ still works great no problems so far
I just said goodbye to my iPhone 5--it would no longer charge. The iPhone 12 pretty much does what the old one did.
In the past me expensive phone gets a reluctant downgrade when...it falls into the toilet 🤗🥲
Good video! I never go to nail salons after I got a fungus n had to get doctor for prescription thank goodness my nail went back to normal
I love the dip nail powder! Game changer….lasts forever!
Great tips Shea! I especially love the one about greeting cards - I couldn't agree more that it is a total waste of money and I love what you suggested as an alternative - brilliant! Thanks for sharing :)
Choose hot dogs with no fillers. The top rated are Nathan’s and Hebrew National.
Did you just tell people to drink essential oils????? Um, no.
She's losing her credibility
Some essential oils are safe. Not all. I think she expects people to have some sense.
@@countingonlife5880 0 essential oils are safe for ingestion. This is false information.
I have citrus and lavender oils that are "food grade " Read your labels.
@@PrairieDawnC please ask any doctor if you should eat oils. None are safe. False info.
I agree with you about the clutter! You caught on early in life, it took me a lot longer 😉
Never ingest essential oils.
Some essential oils are edible. I have citrus and lavender oils that specifically say food grade on the label. Read your bottles.
I'm still rocking an iPhone 6, so yeah, totally agree on the whole phone thing.
Me, too. But it’s days are definitely numbered...
Totally agree on no over decorating! As for the makeup...mine consists of my brows and lashes...no primer. Skin care..always been a gentle cleanser, vit c and sun screen for day then cleanser and a retin A for pm...
Thanks Shea. Always look forward to your videos.
I agree with all the list, I don't do the new phone thing either, I have had 6 phones in 21 years I only got one of those brand new, my first phone. I did the toy rotation thing way back when my kids were little, worked like a charm, and now my daughter uses it with her kids lol
I am absolutely obsessed with your bracelet. Will you share where it is from?
Try Dip Well!!!! Best nail dipping system!!!!never had such long lasting shiney professional looking easy nails ever!!!
Your hair looks great today! Love the braid.
Omg so agree with the clutter of seasonal decor! Just a waste! simplicity is so beautiful in homes also!
I don’t use hand sanitizer at all. Ty Shea . You are a wealth of knowledge on so many things. You are very ECLECTIC.
I hope you do a video about saving money and investing smartly 💕
A quick note about menstrual cups: They need to be replaced annually/bi-annually. It’s not a one and done thing. Please read the box and accompanying literature.
I like how you talk so fast and yet still very fluent! 😊
Castile soap combined with some lavender oil makes a great natural antibacterial/antifungal hand soap.
I like how you mentioned adding oils to water. I've been adding orange, lemon, and/or grapefruit to help me wake up in the morning.
I don't think you're supposed to drink essential oils.
I'm sure there is an alternative...eg slices of fruit.
Ingesting essential oils is very harmful.
I haven't had anything go wrong in the 5 3/4 years I have been doing this. I wasn't trying to push that thought, just sharing my experience. I do have a neighbor who can't ingest them.
I studied aromatherapy for 2 years.
You use in massage, in Bath or to breath in but do not ingest 👌🍋
I totally agree with EVERYTHING you mentioned in this video…except the hairspray!! I have to use a bit when I do my hair or it never holds -at all! I even do the “toy bin trick”! This was fun. Thanks!😄
Thanks, Shea for another great video. Lots of good tips. Love your shirt. Can you share info on that?
I also don't like to use make up removal and thought the eraser was so much better but I feel like it's so much work to keep it germ free.. same goes for reusable feminine panties and other things I feel like thought be one time use but Def there are better options than old school pads. Thank you for your videos 🌹
Great video Shea 👍
Just went to buy the Make Up Eraser - you should mention they also support the fight against breast cancer, and they have a special edition for that as well. I know that is not the main reason to buy them or why you love them I guess, but its good to know when we support something good. 😊
Could you do a video on sustainable brands you like or support and/or brands with a mission.
I am with you on the excessive holiday decorations. I don’t buy them either.
Loved the shirt u are wearing. Where is it from???
Great tips to save money ! A definite need in today’s economy ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellent video! 🙌🏼
I agree about the decorations!!! I’m so done!!! The less the better. I have friends who put up 5 FIVE!!! Christmas trees!!🙄
I’m totally done.
MAC Primer is the best for my eye lashes- works wonders!
I got mine on Amazon just type in make up remover cloths $6.00 for 4 works great. I've been using them years now😊
I would not recommend it. It's disgusting and you have to wash it vigorously after each use because it collects bacteria. Use a clean wipe daily. It works way better, and don't waste time listening to this chic. Your welcome 😘
Actually I recommend you to try micellar water or oil cleanser that has olive oil to take off makeup before washing your face. So much better
Makeup remover wipes are not good for your skin! I highly recommend using a micellar water to remove the bulk of the makeup, then going in with a cleanser to thoroughly clean the skin. I put micellar water on reusable cotton pads and the makeup eraser cloth and it works great!
The card replacement idea is great!
Marc Jacobs mascara primer! Amazing!
LOVE the gift card solution to the greeting card dilemma! Thank you!
Love love love it!!❤️❤️
What do you use for sandwiches instead of deli meat?? Always looking for healthier alternatives!
LOL already spent $300 for Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations every year I spend like $1000 on Christmas decorations it’s like a disease but it makes me happy🤪
Appreciate all the wise tips, Shea! You are a courageous one posting these but with a genuinely helpful attitude!
I love L’Oréal lash paradise primer!!! Truly feel like it makes a difference
That stuff is amazing! I use it every day and it makes a huge difference.
My hair is a short pixie...I was a hot mess during lock down
True they do grow out
I cut my hair once a year 😂😂😂 I am the same with the toes tho.
Lol
Same, cereve night moisturizer, and the day one with spf. Occasionally a BHA to exfoliate. I can't be bothered with many more steps lol
Coffee card great idea or I make my own with the blank cards
Shea, you are absolutely gorgeous!
I realized I do all the things u said without even realising that they are helping me not only save money but also avoid thrash pile up.
I agree about holiday decorations!
