  • It will be almost thirty years since the first implementation of SMS in the world, and yet despite the many developments in technology, particularly in messaging, none have replaced this system. People today are more inclined to use messaging apps that have features that work over internet connectivity not only because it is faster, but it hosts better functionalities over SMS. One of the more popular messaging platforms, iMessage, has become the gold standard since its inception in 2011. Now, Google is heavily pushing out a technology that could rival every other messaging platform out there, even iMessage. But are they too late? Find out here!

DISCLAIMER: Google Chat or RCS will only work if the recipient or the person you're "chatting" with supports RCS. If not, standard SMS will be sent.

imessage is irrelevant outside USA and for RCS i don't see it take over whatsapp anytime soon

It didn't impress me. I'm an Apple ecosystem boy. I'm used to that, hehe

IMO, iMessage really still is the gold standard in terms of a seamless messaging experience. But hopefully they'll soon implement RCS as well for some solid cross-platform messaging that doesn't require anyone downloading any 3rd party app. It'll be a huge improvement in both iOS and Android handsets. 😅

At this she's stage in the game, I feel Samsung RCS is better, in the states ary least, given the widespread use of Samsung phones.
