So many memories going through this.. I had ( still have) most of these as my starter set my grandmother gave me for Christmas back in ‘66. Typical heavy wear and tear and customization of well loved toys and a very imaginative mind.
Good job Grant! Minnesotan here but all my sons die-cast live in his father's attack. Rob, my hobby is watching people like you do your hobbies... Sad but true! Be careful restoring that Pinto, they blow-up you know ;)
At 11:00 ish, the white digger with an orange bucket, the piece sticking under the arm is probably the rod for the hydraulic cylinder on the arm next to it. and just before 14:00 ish, the spare tire you pickup looks like it goes on the red and yellow crane truck, it is missing a tire on the back. We will get some nice restoration / custom videos out of this haul, really nice pieces in there.
Great video Rob,that's a lot of models there, worth restoring most of them,I have the ERTL BA van and Corvette still boxed at the time when I bought them they were cheap.
amazing batch. general lees a team van pinto and airport tow truck are my favs. hope to see them soon. pinto and airport truck first. seen others done n past.
I love a mega unboxing. Never know what you're gonna get (unless your the one to send it). Love those Yatmings. I don't have any of those and I need some for my site. For you info Hardees (The white and orange ERTL Cameros) is a restaurant in the States. I was told this after post a pic of my one on FB a while ago.
A bit of a laugh that the Ford Pinto came in pieces... The real life Pinto had a habit of exploding when hit in the back. Some interesting memories there...
I believe that they destroyed 221 chargers and stripped them down to help the remaining fleet as they went through the series. They found the 'jumping general lee' #1. And even recently destroyed another one at the start of a custom show and can be found in hot rod magazine.
WOW! What a haul. Grant is very generous. There is a lot of very nice castings there. These should keep you busy for quite awhile. Again, WOW! I recently picked up quite a few little Huskies. Haven't done anything with them yet. I would restore the Land Rover Safari in green and white again in the colors that it is now. That's pretty cool. I can ramble on and on but I think I need to get off here. Stay safe Rob. Have a great weekend coming up. Great unboxing.
The Pinto is a “Fresh Cherries” series from Motor Max, and relatively recent. I have the exact ome in min condition. Motor max only made this series for one year and even issued an American version of the Ford Granada (a different car from the European Granada)
The Hardee’s cars are from the late 80’s. The trailer and the white square body Chevy truck go together. You had to collect the from Hardee’s in the kids meals back in the day.
The Matchbox Refrigeration truck had a single, grey plastic door on the back. Mine was broken off by a careless girl in my kindergarten class. That truck was one of the few I had from the period prior to Superfast.
Rob - if you push down on the Matchbox 'Light & Sound' Mercedes, if the battery is still good, the lights will flash, and the siren will sound. The series included some Ford Transit Supervans, too. 17:20 - this odd vehicle is used to pull airliners about at big airports. The ones used in the UK were often made by Douglas. One of these was heavily customised, and made into the 'Armoured Personnel Carrier' used in the movie 'Aliens'. I love Tomica models. The ones that really interest me are the 'indigenous' vehicles that are only ever seen in Japan, and the 1960's and 70's cars we had here. Trust me. They are beautiful - but I dare not start collecting them. I made a 'wish list' a few years ago, and if I'd bought everything on it, it would have been a few quid short of £600. ERTL cars, in 1/64 scale, always annoyed me. They were far more expensive than Matchbox or Corgi, but as well made, or detailed as neither. Often without steering wheels, or too thick window pillars, iffy transfer/sticker/tampo placement, and always nasty wheels, and flimsy bases - but they had the licence for all the cool TV show cars. Their big (1/24 - 1/18) scale pressed steel cars were great, though. 37:50 - The Scammell was originally a military recovery vehicle, and always green. After the war, they were sold off to civilian operators. I have an Oxford Diecast model of one operated by BOAC just after the war. It looks very attractive in their light blue livery. The yellow Lone Star 'Impy' Ford Taunus - a German car, and that model was one of my all time favourites as a kid - I do remember it being a much brighter yellow than that. Those 'Impys' were always astonishingly good, great fun to play with; and it makes me rather sad that they're not held in higher esteem. The Cadillac 'Ecto 1' ambulance. I've got one that I'm converting to a hearse. 50:05 - I have a feeling that the driver of the blue racing car, is Snoopy from 'Peanuts'. The licencing syndicate mentioned were the company who licenced cartoon strips to various newspapers, 'Peanuts' being one. The odd shape of the driver, suggested Snoopy to me.
I'm awaiting a gem of a box from the States. Lots of lovely items, a few US only Hotwheels things, plus some Escorts and Subarus that are rarely found on pegs where I live. A nice Carculture Beetle and DoorSlammer Escort RS
Cool unboxing with lots of interesting cars. Ford Taunus is German model. Some early models had v4-engine (same engine was used also in Saab 96 models) and front wheel-drive. Later Taunus models were same cars than Cortinas mk IV and V generations.
I believe your Mountain Dew car is based on GM Buick Regal or Olds Cutlass models from circa 1981-1985. Some had a landau roof, which could be a customizing option.
Love the Taunus 12m at 42.23....This is an especially interesting model, as the real car was not marketed in the UK at all, as it wasn‘t much different from a contemporary Cortina apart from being front wheel driven :) Initially developed in the US as the „Cardinal“, marketing people decided it would stand a better chance on the European market. It was recognisable by its V4 engine noise.
Nice box of goodies. I mail a similar size box to you on July 9th but it may have sufferd the same date and gotten caught up in Customs. Hopefully you will receive it very soon. Cheers!
@@MatchboxGarage I am surprised this one got through. Spray paint is usually something that will get a package stuck at customs. Testors used to be very common up to about 2007/ 2008... then suddenly it was gone from all of Europe, and basically Vallejo took their place in the hobby shops.
From what I read they trashed about 300 Dodge Chargers in Dukes of Hazzard. Somewhere on the net there is a photo of a load of them on back of a car transporter
Wow! That box was gigantic! I have my own channel...Danny's Diecast! I collect Auto World, Greenlight, Hot Wheels, Schuko, Matchbox, and more! That is a great collection!
Trust me, Rob: it is NOT cheap to send a parcel that size! A friend of mine around the northeast coast of England used to get A LOT of parcels that size from me from the States of American goodies. The shipping alone would cost something like $85 (or £64)!
Always scares me, just how crazy U.S. postal charges are - $90, and this is Grant's *second* attempt at posting it. 😱 I'd need to check but, I think, it would only be about a tenner from here to the U.S. That airport tug/tractor is a bit unusual, never seen anything similar before. It could look good beside a Matchbox airport crash tender. (a №63b) Cheers for now, Dougie.
Since you have many S&S Ambulance... Customize one in black color with silver window trims.. make it look like mafia car .. :P :D .. or may be funeral service car with a coffin in the back .. Just a crazy suggestion dear
I reckon you have your work cut out for you ;) Lots to customize and or restore. You could do a 'Dukes of Derby County' or something like that :D. The star for me would be the Tomica Toyota Celica GT :)
So the ERTL White Chevy Truck, Orange Trailer, and one of the White Camaros (probably the Hardee’s one, but it doesn’t matter) are a set. The Plymouth Trailduster is missing the cap.
I didn't see any comments on the United syndicate '58' race car at the end of the video but it looks like it's from the cartoon/kid's show 'Speed racer'. (I'm showing my age!)
i liked watching this for almost one hour. but after 42 mins i thought Arent you forgetting something? couldnt this be a german ford taunus? anyway, it was a great vid
I Like the way you downplay opening a bag of FREE! old Matchbox models...."Hmm yeah...a lot of breakages here" ...If the whole excitement thing has worn off..be free to forward all your free gifts to me...I'd be ecstatic at extending my collection and spare parts bin FOR FREE...Donated by a complete stranger..who must be the only living person that hasn't cottoned on to the value of these things...everybody down the Boot Sales are asking silly money for them now....Im so green with envy...sound more enthusiastic man... apart from rant..Video's are great...
Not daft at all to appreciate newspapers from another part of the world. I mean, if I could, I'd send over a stick of Gt Yarmouth seaside rock as a RAOK item in my packages. Be okay in the UK, but I'm not sure I could send a food item over the Atlantic...
im afraid most of the damage came from the first atempt to send them to you i think the post office played foot ball with it
Thanks again Grant. Shame the post office was rough with the box but nothing I can't fix 😎

That was a very huge amount of cars you got! Can't wait too see which ones you'll pick for future videos.
At 11:00 ish, the white digger with an orange bucket, the piece sticking under the arm is probably the rod for the hydraulic cylinder on the arm next to it.

so cool how you trade with other people from around the world and how your hobby remains a small space and time of normalcy
I live in Eagan Minnesota and was born in St Paul Minnesota. So this is awesome to see!
Great video Rob,that's a lot of models there, worth restoring most of them,I have the ERTL BA van and Corvette still boxed at the time when I bought them they were cheap.
Thanks Rob, great unboxing video, you have many projects to do, looking forward to seeing all of them. Stay safe,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☮️🇺🇸
amazing batch. general lees a team van pinto and airport tow truck are my favs. hope to see them soon. pinto and airport truck first. seen others done n past.
Great collection of cars. Lots of potential! Looking forward to seeing the Land Rover being redone.

WONDERFUL OLD MATCHBOX CARS.

I might actually have one of those still in the package 🤔

The white pickup, orange trailer, and one of the white camaros makes a complete set.

Hi Rob and family hope you are well and safe great video thats big package great vehicles and items
What a great parcel! I'd like to see you restoring a Lone Star Impy (not necessarily the one from this video, just any). They are such great models!

Tons of Yatmings! You should make some customs out of the General Lees.
wuaoo how happy I wanted to have that many cars. I'd like you to restore the Cadillac ambulance.
Like the yellow lone star car.I have some of those.they had a lot of features.

The Aviva was a special series of race cars piloted by Peanuts (by Charles Schultz) characters. The race car should have a Snoopy on it
Excelente trabalho!!!

I wish that i got mail like that :)

Race Car number 11 mountain Drew looks like DW car when he won the Dayton 500 . Knight Rider was a Camaro z28.

it is German
So many nice finds! I hope you stay away from any restorations with the confederate flag. It's time to retire that flag completely.
